Television Doctor Who

He's been in a Torchwood episode before hasn't he?
"Frobisher is ordered by the Prime Minister to publicly send his daughters off for inoculation (the cover for turning over children to the 456), to allow the government to appear just as much of a victim as the rest of the world and 'save face'. Leaving Number 10, he directs Bridget to sign for "Requisition 31" and bring it to him. The metal box contains a sidearm and a loaded magazine with which he kills his family, and himself—believing he is saving his daughters from the worse fate of being used as drugs by the 456."
Christ I forgot that. It wasn't that bad that! The last episode did that mini series justice.
Jack Harkness's sacrificing his grandson whilst his daughter looked on screaming was very good.

I was hoping that the Beeb would go 'off the wall' and take soembody like Eddie Izzard or Rik Mayall

Oh feck off.

Honestly these type of articles piss me off. Capaldi is the best man for the job, why does this shit get written? If Idris Elba was free for the role with open arms, but come on now.

Of course it was written by a woman. I'm sorry - but I don't know what I would have done if the Doctor regenerated into a female. We had the Sarah Jane adventures for that - even though I didn't watch that, whoever did watch it told me it was pretty good. If you want to have a heroine-version of a Doctor, then the BBC should just make a completely new programme. It just wouldn't be right for the Doctor to go from kissing his companions to becoming a female and potentially kissing male companions. I wouldn't have any of that!

With that being said, I have no problem whatsoever if the Doctor changed ethnicity. I actually expected it to happen this time round, and because it hasn't - then the next regeneration after Capaldi seems to now have a bigger chance of it happening. I would have liked to seen Adrian Lester get it (as Elba is obviously into Hollywood at the moment) - although maybe he isn't quirky enough.

On Capaldi - I haven't watched him act before, but he does seem like an excellent choice. He has that "doctor-ish" look about him. Really does excite me.

My fantasy pick would have been Idris Elba or Hugh Laurie - reckon they would have been unbelievable to watch  Elba with his Luther style approach (minus the violence obviously).

Roll on Novemeber!

I can't describe how much I love that - I've watched it about a dozen times, and I'm still laughing

I've never watched Dr Who at all, but casting Peter Capaldi seems a brilliant move, and intrigues me enough that I might start watching once he takes over.

Your are right it is a crap article, and not very well researched, take this bit.

The Doctor only has one regeneration left (aside from the appearance of John Hurt in the most recent episode, The Name of the Doctor, as an extra "dark" Doctor, who remains a mystery), after which we will need to solve the puzzle of extending his life for the show to continue – perhaps by introducing the first of the 13 females?

This is wrong, in an EP of the spin off kids program with Sarah Jane this was commented on and

the Doctor said there was no limit and has been talked about in this thread before.

For those who haven't seen the latest trailer ( for the 50th anniversary).
Pretty sweet trailer. I imagine it's based on the one topic they've never liked to go near.

This will either be brilliant or a convoluted mess. I'm looking forward to it...

Excited to see Tennant again! Not in a gay way.

What topic is that, Crack?
(Don't open if you don't want a potential BIG BIG Spoiler)

Time War. That Red thing he pushes happens to be something quite potent I think.
I've a feeling it's a De-Mat gun, with the Rassilon key. BBC released docs about the war, and that..
the De-Mat gun erased whole races from time space... Ie TimeLock

So yeah, and Rose gets to Hurt and tells him something. But how?
I think I know..
She's the bad wolf, she potentially could have seen that side of the Doctor.

Very interesting.
Looks good. Tennant is by far my favourite doctor.

Me too.

Love Doctor Who. Fan from the old days. Think Capaldi (also a fan from the old days) will be excellent. Looking forward to this one!

That was quite good.

My speculation:
so I guess going by that mini-episode, the 'War Doctor' (Hurt) was created specifically to end the war and upon doing so he was 'forgotten' and 'The Doctor' returned with Ecclestone?

Exactly. He's the one who broke the promise, and used another name. He ended the time war. I'm guessing he did it using the method I mentioned in an earlier spoilered post.

Just booked my tickets for the 7:30 showing at cineworld on Saturday, anyone else going to watch this on the big screen?

If anyone wants to watch this in 3D, it'll be available on Sky Channel 977.

Looking forward to this. I have an idea of what to expect, but am still hopeful of one or two surprises. Hope it doesn't disappoint.

You can get 3d on your telle

You need to have a 3D tv to be able to do that. I'm fecking ill, but I can't wait to go watch this tonight, so buzzing for this.

The sooner this has aired, the sooner the tedium of constant BBC coverage can end.
