One game against a pub team and he’s much better player than Valencia. Ok, sounds about right. Rawkish to say the least.

It's the truth, Valencia is a hindrance to the side going forwards and his defensive play is going backwards too. Sick of seeing him get the ball and cross straight into the first man's legs every single time or pass it backwards and slow down our attack. It's time to give this kid a chance

Only watched the first half but he looked flawless asides from the slip.

Far better than I thought he was, and I thought he was promising already.

The lad put in a fantastic bechkam-esque cross, then does a few step overs and a low cut cross for his first few minutes.

I don't really see much wrong with his defense that can't be explained by the pitch. He lost his footing 2-3 times which also happened to Shaw.

Excellent debut. Only real blot was he slipped a couple of times but so did others on a surface new to them.

With the emphasis now seemingly on our defensive midfielder dropping deep for support we need our fullbacks to offer more offensively, Dalot hopefully can do that because Valencia has proven he can't.

Postive debut and look forward to seeing what he can do in the league

Not too shabby and not surprised he's fighting for Golden Boy award with Pulisic & Mbappe.

His technique looks well shaped for a young age and he also puts some strength in one vs one challenge .

Thought so too, hopefully just a lack of match sharpness than anything else.

He got beat once or twice as did Shaw. Valencia and Young do too though, very few fullbacks go the entire game without being beaten at all.

Looked good, still needs to improve to get ahead Valencia but good overall performance, you can see the quality is there, good attack but he needs to improve his defending. Hope he keeps improving and we will have proper wingbacks for the first time in years.

Was impressed with him but I was with Darmian too and he’s a steaming pile of nothing. So I’ll give it a while

Darmian didn't show half of this attacking intent in his first games with us though. He was good defensively but never, ever put a good attacking performance with us.

Put in a few great crosses which we sorely need and defensively was sound apart from a couple of surface related slips . Maybe put him on corner duty cos all our other takers are generally atrocious ! Superb potential being only 19 years of age.

Very happy for him. Shades of the very much loved Rafael.

Huge potential but id still bed him in gradually. Valencia will still be key vs the top 6.

I was so surprised to see him get the nod ahead of Darmian, I thought it was a good debut, he started off flying, then settled down a bit and measured his game out well over the 90 minutes, almost got an assist as well, we can't get too hyped just yet as this was a weak team we were playing and he'll be shadowing Valencia for the season, but he does look to have all the tools to be a very good RB.

I feel like today was the perfect game for him to start against a team who was not going to punish us.

He will probably feature more in the League Cup and lower teams maybe.

Love at first sight. He's incredibly positive .Will do wonders for our attack on the right.

This is exactly what I was thinking at the end of the match, certainly won't be getting carried away just yet. A promising start though and a good interview with BT Sport.

great going forward, very suspect defensively though but hes physically capable and only 19 so its not like he cant learn and improve. the coaches will highlight the good and bad moments from his game today. he was hanging around up a bit too much sometimes and leaving too much space in behind but his performance was encouraging.

Give him a pass for that time he got skinned today because he slipped due to the artificial pitch.

Very good going forward and not afraid to whip it first time or take on a man and cross at the byline. Also had a great defensive header in our own box which looked like a chance for Young Boys. Very impressive and hopefully gets more opportunities moving forward now he's fully fit.

Even more annoyed by our inexplicable stance on demanding 20 fecking million for Darmian in the summer now. Makes less sense.

Just refreshing seeing a RB dribble and deliver a first time cross.

This lad can cross a ball, Shaw and him could makes us dangerous on both flanks. It's too early to get carried away though. Good debut, think he gives a bigger threat than Valencia. Positive start.

7/10 Would give 8 if not for two slips in dangerous situations. Good one-on-one both ways, good passing games, and dangerous on the attack. Faded a bit. Haven’t seen a young back debut with such hope and elation since Michael Clegg.

Very very good debut. His crossing is excellent and he looks confident on the ball. Hope he gets more games.

Sorry for asking @Adisa but is Valencia really so bad as painted here that everyone is despairing for this kid to play? He needs to be gradually introduced imo. He is lacking a pre season, coming from a 5 to 6 months pause, new reality, much stronger league. I can see Mourinho trying to preserve him from the League games for now, maybe will play him on FA Cups and League Cups, he is still raw, but I like this kid, Cancelo with the same age probably nobody suspected he would be playing for Juve now, maybe Diogo can develop, but it will take time.

Impressed by his debut, he'll sit out Wolves but should be back in for Derby, which I don't mind at all.
