Probably couldn't be bothered to turn up. Back to usual lazy self.

Seriously though, he has lost a bit of sparkle he had at the start of the season. Needs a kick up the backside.

Why would he be rested for Rangers? The Champions League group is almost done and dusted for us in the group stages, and he's one of the few players who had a rest the last week given he's retired for his country!

Besides which even then he'd likely be on the bench in an emergency. It's surely either injury / illness, or he's been dropped

Agree it's not a 'rest' in the physical sense. Either illness/injury or a strategic kick of the arse.

Will dropping him actually do anything? He's probably one of the weakest players mental- wise we've had on the team in the last 2-3years, his confidence gets shot very easily. Doesn't seem like the type who gets fired up if he's dropped, it would probably do the opposite if anything.

We can't just play him week in week out and hope that he will pick himself up mentally.

Started the season so brightly, and coincidentally or not, he was running much more and worked harder than he is doing now.

If she's pregnant why is he scoring in clusters?. Hormones are supposed to act on the missus berba, not you

On a more serious note, Well done berba!. He's better in the box at home i see

Talking about hormones, difficult times ahead for Berba. Hope his girlfriend isn't like most pregnant women. It could be a living hell for him

so is he going to start tonight?

I would love to see him and Rooney let loose on the crappy Arsenal defence but I reckon Fergie will play it safe with 1 up front - I suppose most people would assume that Wayne would be in the lone striker in that case but I personally would say Berba deserves his place ahead of Rooney at the moment.

I'm going to be very disappointed if he doesn't start tonight, Rooney and Berba together have created more chances per game than any time we've played 451 this season. Also Rooney's playing so deep at the moment it's almost like we're playing 451 so we're not going to get outnumbered in midfield.

You'd think it would absolutely have to be Rooney and Berbatov tonight, but we've long since learnt not to second guess Fergie, and to expect the unexpected, so feck knows. Will probably Giggs and Bebe up front.

Berba and Rooney will play together. Rooney behind Berba- tracking back. Much like the typical No 10 in football. when defending at least, we need to switch, so Rooney's energy is vital now
For the first time in a long time, I feel confident in playing our 2 strikers in a difficult game like this.

Well if Rooney and Berba play that means either one man less in midfield or no Park and I can't see either of those happening so I don't expect Berba to play tonight.

How often have we started him against either Arsenal or Chelsea in the PL?

For me Rooney and Berba upfront would be the unexpected!

hang on - there seems to be some confusion over whether Berba is playing or not?!

Confirmed: Berba on the bench. 4-5-1

Great performance for the guy he looks a lot happier. 13 goals beaten his last year's tally of 12.

Fantastic footballer. In real life the only people I know who don't tend to rate him have never touched a football themselves.

That attempt after Gibsons shot rebounded off the goalie was sensational, the technique involved in that was brilliant, not to mention his trick when being scythed down.

If someone could make a gif out of the trick he did to eliminate Bardsley on the left wing close to the throw-in line in the first half it would be fantastic
