Di Marzio: Barca make bid for Pogba

Mirror saying Pobga has accepted terms of £100m over 5 years. Probably BS.

Out of interest, would people be happy with Rekitic and Dembele for Pogba?

Yes. With Rakitic we wouldn't have problems in midfield and Dembele would sort out our RW. But Barca would never agree to that.

It's a lot more likely that's the only way we would agree to Pogba moving though. I'd be happy with that deal tbh. Especially since Pogba doesn't want to be here.

For the short term yes, Rakatic though regardless of age doesn't bring the same level of creativity as Pogba though so CM would continue to be an area we would need to improve upon (unless Fred turns out to be amazing)

Hirst running with the "Pogba unhappy at Mourinhos WC comments" line too.

Don't get me wrong, I'm everything but a Mourinho fan. But wow, players really are little princesses these days.

Absolutely. Jose was grooming Pogba as a central midfield player and after buying Sanchez with Lingard in incredible form in the number 10 role needed Pogba to play in a 2. Pogba had a massive strop and put in one of the most disgraceful efforts I've seen from a player in a United shirt.

The "Pogba needs to play left of a 3" stories started, the whole team reshaped to accommodate him and he proved himself to be a selfish individualist when he was set for a leadership role within the squad.

All the world cup showed was that Pogba's best position is where Jose wanted him to play and he doesn't have to play left of a 3. If Pogba had a modicum of self awareness he would come back to United more humble but it seems the opposite may have happened.

It is an incredibly frustrating situation. The relationship between Pogba and Mourinho is clearly strained which is a huge issue for Jose because United are heavily invested in Pogba. It's up to Jose to sort it out. Unfortunately, it's pretty unlikely he will as I don't think he has the man management skills to do it.

No. Pogba is better than Rakitic.

Never. Pogba is the best incisive midfielder in the world cup (have underlying stats to back this). We need to build around him, even if it costs changing the manager. He is the complete package of the modern day player with 4th biggest commercial power (behind CR7, messi, neymar). Rakitic can't sell a shirt.

United fans who hate him don't realise how much revenues he brings to us off the pitch. We are a revenue based club.

Definitely BS.

They said reports in Italy, but linked to a Spanish source which mentions an Italian newspaper but doesn't link to where they have supposedly reported an agreement, and looking at that Italian newspapers website, they have made no such claim anyway.

Would much rather have players who'd be able to work with the manager of than keep an unhappy player against his will. The latter is a real downer on any dressing up room.

Just get rid of Mourinho ffs, it reflects so badly on us as a club that are brightest prospects want out! Mark my words it will be Sanchez next and then good luck trying to sign players like Dembele and Rakitic, there are so many better teams to play for in England now. Play at City, Arsenal, Liverpool and enjoy your football or play at United where everyone is expected to be a CB grinding out 1-0. Hate what this club has become and for the first time in atleast 7-8 years I haven't watched a single minute of interviews or coverage of our preseason tour.

Your tagline looks out of place with this post

Tbf, Pogba has form with this...

we should be looking to keep our best players, especially when the manager is not going to be around for years.

I don’t want a team of Jose players to be honest, we’re miserable enough to watch as it is.

but this is a ludicrous & cheeky bid. Why we want to sign two of Barcelona's rejects is beyond me,

It's a complete insult and I actually think that insulting Mourinho with this bid was Barcelona's intention. There's no love lost between them and they've tried to be mischievous with a bid that is ludicrous on so many levels.
  • The value of the swap deal offered is still less than what we signed Pogba for
  • We've never shown any interest in Fontas nor is he remotely at the same level as Pogba
  • There's serious doubt as to whether we even want Mina. The very fact that Everton are still sniffing around this player despite our so called interest suggests that Mina is just a smokescreen for our transfer "strategy"
  • Why would Barca even think that United (or any Premiership club for that matter) would sell their most valuable asset with only two days to go before the transfer window closes.
Having said ALL of that and despite being convinced the bid was borne our of mischief I have to ask where does Pogba's heart lie. When Pep revealed that Pogba was offered to City last season the silence from Pogba was deafening. If Pogba doesn't publicly commit to United in the next few days then it's only a matter of time before Pogba goes.

I hope he stays, however it’s no coincidence that up until his return yesterday he posted on social media and/or Instagram everyday throughout the world cup and afterwards on holiday and he’s now “ back with us” there hasnt been anything. You could say I’m looking too much into it, however Pogba, Rashford, Lingard and Lukaku are all close friends and you’d expect their social media accounts to be buzzing as their all reunited ahead of the new season.

Rikitoc would be a good replacement.

I'm having a converstation with my fanatic Barca fan friend and he's trying to tell me Pogba is worth 100m max. Should I deck him when I see him IRL? I can't seem to talk some sense into him here.

There is a reason SAF was a winner for so many years. Chose players for the greater good and would get rid when it wasn't.

The problem is it was a less competitive market in SAFs era, now you can't afford to be so choosy, whether that is keeping players for longer or getting them in the first place.

Ronaldo is a good example of us needing to start comprising. We got an extra season and good money, but it was obvious then you can't easily replace some players.

Arguably we never should have got Pogba. The disruption might not be worth any profit and replacing could cost us either in quality or price.

No chance Pogba is leaving. I'm not worried about this happening at all.

He definitely deserves to be decked.

Not a fan of Rakitic, personally - I don't think he has anywhere near the ability Pogba does. Dembele would be murdered by Mourinho about 5 minutes after joining - he has a penchant for fast food and comes in tow with a ludicrous entourage.

Agreed. I believe SAF and his scouting network would assess NOT only a player's technical ability but also whether they fitted the Manchester United psychological profile.

Since SAF retired and in the mad stampede to secure the best talent on the planet I think we have lost sight of the psychological aspect of scouting players. Pogba has the potential to have it all but his head is turned too easily e.g. United > Juventus > United > City (?) > Barcelona.

If he loves this club then it's time for him to announce it otherwise these rumours will grow and grow as the season progresses.

Di Marzio: Barcelona make a bid for Pogba.
Sport: Barcelona didn't make a bid for Pogba. But his dream is play alongside Messi and Vidal
Marca: Juventus make a bid for Pogba. His dream is to return and play for the vecchia signora.

Lul.

That's odd.

We have had lots of oppo fans telling us how shit Pogba is since he's been at the club then all of you are posting about this like giddy girls going to see One Direction..

Perhaps you have all secretly been jealous after all eh..

@Klopper76 @Dumbstar @GlastonSpur
@RobinLFC

Probably a lot of truth in this.

Plus the idea of Glaston attending a One Direction concert being held at Spurs' new stadium is not far-fetched.

What about Dembele + £100 mill, then use the money on Modric, while waiting for the next new flashy midfielder to be available in a year or two?

I honestly don't want us to keep unhappy players.
Interesting how the French lads starts crying when something goes against them, while the English (Shaw and Smalling) trains harder and try to win their spot back, without crying in the media.

The "Jibe" at pogba is just an easy excuse to try and force a move. Raiola uses everything possible to better his position.

I have said since the market opened that i wouldn't be against Pogba leaving. But there is no chance we can replace him right now, we can barely sign a CB ffs.
He will have to stay one more season, and in that time so many things can happen.

As much as I like Pogba and think he has the potential to be an incredible player, if he doesn't want to be at United, then its best to move him on.

It seems like his heart just isn't at the club anymore and that will undoubtedly effect his performances next season. This could mean him leaving next season for a lot less than he is worth now.

On the back of his World Cup performace and his marketability with should easily get £100m+. The club shouldn't sell for a penny less.

Another issue is, are we going to have enough time to find a world class replacement? Milinkovic-Savic or Pjanic maybe?
We don't have time and the replacement could well cost more than we get for pogba. We shouldn't accept less than 200m.

Tbf, Shaw and Smalling doesn't have a chance of playing for Barcelona or Juventus.

He’s not going to be sold this window, or even January.
But long term if we want to keep him, we need to start winning

Jose should stick to his "those who want to leave can leave" and let the poor boys, Martial and Pogba, get their dream moves to clubs where they get to play proper football without being thrown under a bus by their manager every so often.

Willian and Pjanic have way more experience anyway, so it's a win-win for him.

Hirst showing a bit too much there. Almost revealed the shambles that is Sports journalism. Don't worry guys and gals, they made a few phone calls and double checked things, so it's legitimate.

Here's another one

There was no chance of this happening. Can happen next year but I think he'll eventually sign a new contract on improved terms once Mourinho goes.

This, can't see Woody willing to lose Pogba, along with a lot of players contracts running out, who may need replacing.
