Di Marzio: Barca make bid for Pogba

For me he isn’t worth £50m, but in a market that is massively inflated where average defenders went for £50m or more 1 or 2 years ago along with what Barcelona would sell him for.

He deffo isn’t worth £20m in this market. He may be worth that on his ability yes, but this market is massively inflated to make players like him be valued at that.

Was the market drastically different last year when he went for £8m or so?

Nobody will pay £50m for him. Not a chance in hell. The only ones paying idiotic fees are English clubs, unless he goes to Everton he's not going to cost more than £20m. Rebic has just gone to Sevilla for about £15m.

A nonsense bid. But my concern is that the agent is pushing for alternatives for Pogba. And Pogba is clearly not doing anything to stop that.

Pogba can moan all he wants about Mourinho. But he should do his talking ON the pitch. Show Mo for UNITED, not France.

It sickens me that he is able to track back for France and yet has a problem with JoMo asking him to do that.

Pogba needs to feck Raiola off. The club should offer him a new deal soon.

That's odd.

We have had lots of oppo fans telling us how shit Pogba is since he's been at the club then all of you are posting about this like giddy girls going to see One Direction..

Perhaps you have all secretly been jealous after all eh..

@Klopper76 @Dumbstar @GlastonSpur

Because we wouldn't be able to properly replace him.

If we got rid of Pogba and brought in Thiago, Rakitic or Modric they probably wouldn't be laughing as much.

Pogba has been disappointing on occasion but this is a ludicrous & cheeky bid. Why we want to sign two of Barcelona's rejects is beyond me, but then we are seemingly trying to buy one of them 'Mina Bird' separately.

Perhaps we should put in a 100 million bid for Messi, offering Rojo & Fellaini as part of the package. Come on Barcelona you know it makes sense.

So United are still very relevant to our beloved oppos.

They are still very concerned in what we do despite everyone telling us how shite we are.

Beautiful

Why wouldn't they be? It's normal. We do the same.

We can just refuse to sell him but, on the other hand, it seems clear that he wants out - do we want to keep a player here that doesn't want to be here and may well put in demotivated performances (much like a lot of last season)?

He has plenty of time left on his contract. We wont be accepting any lowball offers for him.

He isnt going anywhere.. If he really wants out, he'll cost nearly double of what we bought him for... and I dont think anyone is paying that. So ... its not happening.

What, we call opposition players rubbish then get excited when the leave?
Rubbish is a strong word. Don't think serious neutrals think he's rubbish, but he's definately flattered to deceive.

It's more the excitement of seeing a rival lose a good talent and not have time to replace him.

I don't think he's shown anything special in his United career apart from the odd moment of brillance here and there, but he's still arguably your third best player I'd say. However, I bet you can't find one post of me saying he's been shit for United.

I think the outrage of him maybe leaving (he won't) is more based on what yous think he could be for United rather than what he's shown so far.

He's a very good player but he isn't the world beater that some of our fans think he is.

We still shouldn't be selling him mind and if the reports that he wants to leave because of Mourinho are true then I'd far rather see the latter go.

This, yes. You won't lose him though so no point thinking about it really. I had a good laugh when I read about Barça's offer though

it’s all dross.

Tomorrow sky will report that PSG have entered the bidding with an offer of 80m, a 2002 version of Scholes brought through a time warp and a Unicorn.

Sky have become a joke, they are constantly elaborating on tabloid tag gossip columns. You do realize that essentially there’s a bloke at the sun, bbc, sky etc who has to write a gossip column every day, which basically involves one third copying other columns, one third writing about moves that have already happened and one third fantasy. I literally doubt we were ever interested in Macguire or Mina, they were just two defenders who had a decent word cup and play where we need a hole filling.

Did anyone at the club ever come out and say we were bidding for Alderweireld or Sandro? Was all over the papers etc. it’s clickbait and our club is repeatedly targeted with this stuff because we have the most fans and the big global following. Don’t see this shit about Bury or Doncaster do we? Because it wouldn’t get the clicks (no disrespect intended)

The original source is Di Marzio and he's the most accurate journalist around.

Of course he's not shit, but I don't think he's irreplaceable either. I'm more talking about you potentially losing a player you don't want to. Usually happens to the rest of us.

That blokes spouted a load of crap down the years as well. Real finger in the wind strategist. Said we had sign d Garay. That happened.

But hey ho, random Italian knows all with his crystal ball. Pogba is gone let’s all cry.

Jesus Christ...

Since this broke, Pogba now wants to leave, doesn't want to leave, tells team mates he hates Mourinho, tells team mates he wants out, Raiola wants 10%, wants 20%, etc etc.

Pure constipated journalism

I fecking hate football

Hirst running with the "Pogba unhappy at Mourinhos WC comments" line too.

Don't get me wrong, I'm everything but a Mourinho fan. But wow, players really are little princesses these days.

Whilst that is true Jose was unnecessarily reserved in his praise of Pogba during his WC punditry, like it would literally kill him to say something nice about one of his star players. I guess Jose took Pogba's WC form as a slant against him such is the man's ego

I wonder what it says to Pogba that Barca make such a paltry offer for him. That's how highly they rate him.

Barca know full well they're not getting him this summer, they threw an offer out there to start the saga, they knew it wasn't being accepted, they did it to unsettle him and start to dig their claws in, we've seen it so many times.

I doubt any player would look at it like that, they'll see the positive in that the buying clubs wants to sign them

He simply stated that tournament football suits Pogba, not a lot wrong with that.

Pogba works best when motivated with a goal in mind, WC is a prime example. He was good for us while we were still in the title race, once it was over, yeah he wasn't as good, but then most of our team was the same. He just needs to be playing for something.

He won't be leaving unless it suits United.

4 years on contract. Don't need the money either.

I don't know about that. I think Ronnie would feel disrespected as he did when Real were willing to put his release clause (to shite clubs) at 100m.

Yes, Barca tend to offer below MV for players. But that offer is half an Ousmane Dembele.
