Gaming Destiny 2 • RedCafe Clan in OP

I was going to buy Destiny 2 on ps4 with the black friday sale but I'm getting a bit hesistant, is it a game you'd recommend?
As someone who sunk 3,000 hours into Destiny 1, I'd say no. If I were you and had no relationship to the franchise from D1, I'd wait until they've had time to correct the poor design choices with DLC and sandbox updates before buying the game.

Is buying it now even worth it? Since I'd start at level 1 wouldn't it be hard to find people my level?

Levelling up to 20 isn't an issue, you do that just by doing the story missions. Getting your power level up to levels high enough can be achieved by doing pretty much any activity, easiest is probably through public events that are easy to do. That is one of my main gripes with the game. Previously you had to do end game content to be able to level up to max level, in order not to be under-leveled anymore, which made the raids easier. Now you can just get yourself up to max level by doing any activity, but it still won't make the raid (or other end game activities) much easier, due to the enemies scaling to your level.

Iron banner this week in case anyone still wants any of the weapons or armour and it's the clash game mode. Second bungie stream tonight leading up to the dlc release, hopefully a bit more information about the changes that'll be coming for season 2.

As someone who only played D1 a little after release, I think you're actually more likely to enjoy D2 as someone who has never played D1. The vast majority of criticism aimed at D2 means nothing to me, as I don't know any different. I think D2 is a lot of fun. I'm starting to suffer from the lack of motivation 300+ that everyone complains about, but to be honest if the caf clan was active I'd enjoy getting stuck into the raid and dominating PVP.

I started D2 a month or 2 late and it didn't matter. As @Anustart89 said, you can get to max level through very easy (but fun imo) public events. You gain access to public events very early doors and there are always players around for them. For clan related stuff we could do with more people around to join in as it's gone quiet. To be honest that's perhaps a reason not to buy it though!

I'd like the full IB set on my titan and still need the helm and mark. Hopefully we can get a group together this week to smash it.

After cancelling their final stream for the upcoming Curse of Osiris dlc, due to a large negative feeling in the player base, Bungie has released a blog post outlining some coming changes as they try and address some of the issues with the game.

There's some interesting ideas in there but I can't say I'm overly convinced it'll change the end game grind that much, I hope that any ranked pvp they come out with next year has a solo playlist otherwise it won't be worth going near without a fireteam.

Played it for about a month but I've just given up on it and so have my mates. I find once you come away from the grind for a week that it's hard to want to play it again.

It's a very meh game and too similar to the original

In my opinion it's a big step back in all departments from D1, which by year 3 had become an exceedingly fun game.

You're not alone in that, the cafs clan is pretty much dead, I still play a fair bit just because I still enjoy the gunplay for the most part and considering I got the season pass for the dlc it's worth sticking with it for now, I still have things I want to do like getting certain gear from the raid, which I've only ran once so far, and trying a bit more trials but with no one to do that with in the clan I'd have to use lfg which I haven't got round to yet.

I traded mine last week having not played it in weeks. It was all a bit pointless. Get to level 20 and then.......

Yeah, it's good that they're realising why they need to make changes, but the things they've mentioned in the blog post aren't what make me dislike the game. The biggest reason as to why I'm not playing D2, having spent almost 3k hours on D1, is the nerfing of ability and super cooldowns, the 4v4 PvP teamshoot meta, the loadout system with two primaries and a heavy, and unfortunately I can't see them changing the foundations of the game.

Just hoping that they'll admit they fecked up and go back to letting us feel powerful when D3 arrives.

I saw it and feel the same as you as well. After the dust has settled, it's clear they did some truly bizarre design decisions with D2 and by now are basically just putting out fires.

They made all these major changes (two primariy slots, moving shotguns/snipers to power, increased ability cooldowns, increased TTK in pvp and removed random rolls) to even out the playing field in pvp to make it more competitive, but with no ranking system

The end result is a game that caters to neither group. PvE players are pissed since there is no chase for gear any longer (and the token system is pretty much universally hated) and it does not please pvp players either since the long TTK and lack of ranks just makes it very stale after a short while.

Yeah, same feeling here, once I had done the story bits and the post game grind started to get a bit tedious I never felt compelled to go back in. Don't get me wrong though I loved it while I was playing it but once you walk away for a while there's not enough going on in it to pull me back in.

So Curse of Osiris came out yesterday, only played a little but just had a quick look at reddit and it seems one of the new exotics is hilariously overpowered in pvp, that's me staying out of crucible until they fix it (or at least I have it ).

They are locking original vanilla game content behind the new DLC again

If there’s one thing that Destiny players love, it’s being locked out of content until they pay money. Curse of Osiris is happy to deliver, gating off many of Destiny 2's high-level activities to anyone who hasn’t bought the new expansion.

Curse of Osiris, which came out Tuesday, raises the caps on Destiny 2 character and Power levels. It also raises the requirements for endgame activities across the board, like the raid and Nightfall strike. Whereas in vanilla Destiny 2 the tougher, Prestige versions of both the raid and Nightfall asked you to have a minimum Power level of 300, they now want you to be 330.

The problem here is that if you don’t have Curse of Osiris, you’re capped at 305 Power, and you can’t actually enter those activities until you buy the expansion:

And people are demanding refunds

I don't know if any of you guys got the new DLC (kinda meh btw), but if you have bought it the exotic vendor Xur is currently selling a gun called "Prometheus lens". In it's current state it is the most powerful PvP gun in the game, and it rival the OG Vex Mythoclast if any of you were players from the early days and remember how broken that gun was. Get your hands on it and enjoy it while you can before it gets inevitable nerfed into the ground.

Just picked it up but haven't been in crucible with it yet, gonna watch some trials streams in a bit to see how ridiculous this weekends gonna be with full teams of Lens users every match.

Well this gun is absolutely mental.

It even makes supers a waste of time. It just carves straight through them.

The new Masterworks weapons are pretty good, the orbs of light on multikills are really easy to get and it gives a nice boost to how quickly you get your super up, there's still room for improvement on the re-rollable stat but it's a nice start.

I've caved and got the DLC, I just can't ignore it even though they've really cocked it up.

Looks so great on 4k Pro also!

We'll have to see if we can get a group together and do the new Raid Lair at some point, by all accounts it's pretty good and it'd be cool to get at least one clan clearance.

I've attempted it, but once my reached the final boss we weren't able damage him enough. But it's a cool little activity, it's similar in length to Crota's End if you remember that and I personally think it's more fun than the Leviathan Raid.

Did it last night, it was a sherpa run so it really helped having someone who knows it well and can keep everyone pulling in the right direction because it can get quite hectic during the Argos fight.

So the new dlc is decent, the exotic changes have made some guns really fun to use again and Escalation Protocol is a nice addition even if I haven't made it past wave 3 yet. 6v6 Iron Banner is back next week so I'll probably be playing a fair bit of that to grind out some of the ornaments. Anyone looking to come back to the game? it'd be nice to have some more clan members on now and again.

To be honest i liked what i saw in the reveal yesterday. Everything seemed to be a step in the right direction. Wont be getting this though. I am done with destiny and bungie for some time.

I think Bungie seem to be done with Destiny too.

They got a £100m investment from a big Chinese company to develop a game. The investors also bought a tiny stake in Bungie.

They also announced they going to be self publishing their games.

Not sure what that means of the 10 year deal or 3 game contract with Activision. Activision could most likely get one of their COD developers to make the next Destiny. As they do own the IP.

I think its bungie who owns the IP.

The NDA/embargo from the summit Bungie held earlier in the year was lifted today so there's more info being shared about what to expect with regards to the weapon slot changes etc. Also the new game mode "Gambit" is being discussed quite a bit and seems to have been well received by those that played it, the mix of pve and pvp will be interesting to see and hopefully it gives the game a boost. Any caf clan members considering coming back for the Forsaken dlc?

It's free weekend isn't it? Might come on and join y'all.... Fo old times sake

Has anyone been following the Whisper quest that was discovered on Friday? It’s brilliant, one of the best things they’ve ever done with this series imho. I spent several hours with my clan on Saturday wringing every bit of content possible from this new mission (so far) and had a great time.

I went in solo and had fun with the jumping puzzle but couldn't clear the rooms fast enough alone so used lfg to get the normal version done, still have to complete the heroic version + chests and oracles but not sure when I'll get around to that even though with the catalyst that gun is going to be insane. The only downside to the whole thing was the waiting for the blight PE to show up but everything else was spot on.

I wanted to do it but I havent played since warmind dropped and i am around 345 light right now.

How many of you are ready to ditch destiny and play warframe with me instead? :p
