I've finished the story and I'm on 234 light. What's the best way to improving my power from here on in?

Also when I have an item with slightly improved light rating, but it's a downgrade in terms of mobility/resilience/recovery, is it worth swapping?

If your gear is purple, you can infuse with the higher light stuff.

I'd say do strikes or public events (PE is fastest) until you hit around 260 light then do the milestones.

Do I want to be spending glimmer and legendary shards infusing at this stage? I assumed I should be saving all that stuff for the end game.

Looks like you can cheese the anomalies again in the nightfall this week, just have to zone in and out and the first area spawns 4 you can just farm for max time, considering it bugged twice on us when we were doing normal mode legit earlier it might be worth trying to cheese the prestige this week ... maybe.

I'd like to try prestige at some point. Will use arc souls on my warlock to help out. Think the only problem is that having one person staying back makes it harder for the two going forward but I guess as long as the person staying back joins the others as soon as he hits the max time limit it shouldn't be too bad - and the two heading forward don't then have to worry about finding the anomalies and can just get through it all as fast as they can.

I mean if the guy staying back just keeps farming anomalies until the others reach the boss room and pull him forward you should have max time for the boss alone. It would definitely make the rest of the strike a slog for the other 2 but with no time limit to worry about you could be more cautious and and just chip your way through.

Ah, just realised you can't endlessly farm the anomalies, once you reach max time they just give 0 seconds after that or something. Would still make it more doable though.

Yeah he can only hit about 30 which is the number of anomalies dotted through the strike.

I got the fighting lion exotic the other day, and my god it must be the worst exotic ever, that includes D1 also.

Such a shame as it looks amazing, but it's really useless.

Pretty sure that was the first exotic I got from an engram, a lot of the exotics in D2 are kinda lacklustre but that one is just ridiculously bad. I think bungie were scared of the impact if might have in pvp if it was even remotely good, with it being in the energy weapon slot people would have essentially had a power weapon with ammo for the whole match.

I made 270 last night but progress has slowed considerably. Did the Nightfall last week which wasn't too bad. I've done 4 of the 6 Strikes. A little bit of Crucible. Had my money's worth, anyway.

Fair enough keep the damage down but give it a bigger magazine and way more ammo. Shooting 1 weak AF grenade and then having to reload is just ridiculous. Even the legendary's are much, much better than that.
Quite a few of the exotics are lacklustre. Hope they introduce more soon enough.
Yeah it's a shame, seems like in D1 they went a little OTT with power on a few, but they've gone the opposite this time. That's the only part I've found disappointing about the game so far.

Any tips on which faction to choose?

I like the look of Dead Orbit's gear but I've read it is the worst. I read they won the faction rally so presumably that also means they have a strong chance of winning it each week if you can't swap factions?

Dead Orbit has a decent handcannon called Dire Promise that I've used a bit in pvp but overall FWC probably has the best weapons, they also have a handcannon that does delayed explosive damage, a nice energy scout rifle in the Mida archetype that has lightweight and high cal rounds, and they also have a nice energy auto rifle that's similar to the Uriels Gift that is very much the meta in pvp. I haven't pledged to New Monarchy so I'm not sure what they have to offer but they probably have the best shaders of all the factions so it depends what you want.

Been hunting the full set of Iron Banner armour for the last 3 days and from 17 rank ups I've only gotten 3 to drop. It's so infuriating to keep getting duplicate guns and generic vendor legendaries

I don't know how you boys find the time to get so advanced in this game. I only killed the fat boss guy the other night and have since done a couple of strikes and a few patrols.

I only seem to find time for a few hours a week so progress is slow. It's fun though, so I could look at it like I've prolonged my enjoyment without hitting the wall of duplication of both missions and gear mentioned above.

I've got 2 items and both were the chest... I was getting flashbacks to my WoW raiding days and never getting the gear you want. As people on reddit were saying, a vendor who you can buy the gear from for tokens is the obvious solution.

Yeah drop rates aren't huge, it's just RNG as usual. I've had the cloak, legs and chest so far. Just got to be lucky!

Iron Banner is a great way to rank up, once you're over 300 light everything drops at 300 so you can push those items to 305 really easy.

That would be ideal, in their current state vendors have basically become slot machines as a way to extend the grind.

I just need the Titan chest piece then I have the set.

I’ve a rank and a half to go to get the season package then I’m done.

In D1 I would have tried it with my Warlock, but without the Nothing Manicles it will be like pulling teeth.

The season package is just an emblem sadly, thought I'd at least get a 300PL item

It always amuses me when we talk about video games like they're some kind of arduous trial or job of work. I've done it too with games like Borderlands, hunting that next bit of rare gear or next skill point. It's odd that we all know we're pretty much where the makers of such games want us to be yet we go through the motions anyway, irrespective of how much fun we're actually having by playing.

As said above because I've progressed so slowly with D2, and that I've used it to catch up and have fun with my brother, I'm not at the stage where it's started to become a bit of a chore, but I can definitely relate to the feeling.

Did the first day but not since. Now it is on a similar rota to the other vendors.

Oh really  good job I grinded hard then on Tuesday, that got me 305 on weapons I actually enjoy using so that was nice.

How has raiding been going, have you managed to finish it yet? I'm sure we can get a clan raid going now that most people know what they're doing.

Are we able to get a group together of an evening for some IB? It must be much easier to win with some organisation and competent team members.

Nah, not yet. Would love to do it though.

I'm sure we can. On Tuesday we had four of us in a team and it made things so much easier as there's not a person randomly going for the third control zone and messing the spawns up.

And we can call out which zones to target

It's absolutely maddening, i grinded on Nessus today to get either the Last Hope or some of the armor (legs and gloves) and after like 15 level ups i did not get anything i wanted, i did get about 10 fecking Uriel's Gift's though

The absolute worst though is getting fecking shards as a reward, i soon have 1k of those. Why on earth did they include those in the rewards?

They need to bring in more stuff to spend shards on. Xur hardly has anything.

Finally got my first Leviathan clear and got 1 piece of gear at the very end and tokens everywhere else. With a good group its fun but compared to Wrath of the machine and Kings Fall the loot feels really lacking.
