Accepted you and @Sied
Thanks. Enjoying the game so far. I haven't renewed my ps plus sub yet but I'm enjoying the campaign regardless.

I seem to be struggling to find other players for the public events. I found going out to orbit and back seems to reload it and I found a few other player's that way. Am I doing something wrong or is it because I don't have a ps plus sub?

Nah, I have same issue with public events. Don't even have to go back to orbit though, just fast travel to nearest location.

If your looking to do public events sat it in the chat I'm always hanging around titan as it's the 2 easiest events in there
I hope they change the map at some point to display markers for other fireteam members and say where they fast travel to. For me it is best to go from planet to planet as there is usually an event going all the time but it isn't ideal for fireteams when you can't see where your teammates are.

You get the odd instance that is empty.

Nessus is always packed as it has strikes running through it, same with Io.

Six (one of them being PS4 exclusive for now)
Cheers. I might do the other three later on then. I really hate dying, you feel like you're letting the other two players down. Those stupid bastard moving laser fields took me down a couple of times.

Didn't realise there was six strikes... Feels like i've done the same 4 over and over

Actually i've just googled them, and it appears i've done all six. Seriously does feel like i get the same ones over and over though.. Still have to do the Nightfall too. Might try a guided game later on tonight

You can't select which ones you want to do? I guess that leads to a lot of people quitting out early.

Guided game takes ages to search. The nightfall isn't that bad as long as you take a bit of time and find the anomalies.

It is weird with the strikes. In the beta there was the one strike (Inverted Spire), but in the full game I think I've only played that strike twice. I think I end up playing the PS4 strike the most (Lake of Shadows) and it is the one I'd rather not play.

Agree. Bungie should give us an option to choose which strike.

Yeah i can't imagine the reason for removing that feature..

Same with 6v6 PvP and Stat rolls on guns as well. The former was a bit of a mess, but i actually enjoyed the mayhem. Regarding the former a lot of people are starting to complain about being "done" with the game already and that's not a good sign..

Exotics are too weak and too common and with a legos having static rolls there is really no reason to play beyond getting max light.

Don't get me wrong, it's a great game, but despite some improvements over D1, they also took away some parts that made it good

Yeah I liked 6v6 you could be a lone wolf a bit more, whereas this game is team kills, also grenades should have the ability to kill you walking on after a fusion grenade has gone off is plain stupid

Just been reading a reddit thread discussing the lack of end game content/grind and found myself agreeing with a lot of it.

I came relatively late to D1, after "the taken spring", but always liked that there was something I could do, you could solo most nightfalls and it was enjoyable to use different builds and weapon loadouts depending on burns and modifiers, PoE was also soloable and had decent loot to "grind" for, pvp was easy to jump in and have fun even with the balancing issues with certain weapons/perks, and the daily bounties and gunsmith packages gave you something to look for on a regular basis.

With D2 I feel like a lot of that has gone, nightfalls feel like something "to get done" rather than enjoy, normal strikes are boring with the watered down abilities and exotics we have, pvp feels a lot less accessible for solo players and without the grind for the likes of a god roll eyasluna I'm not sure crucible is enjoyable enough to keep me interested; they introduced weekly crucible bounties in D1 where you could get kills with a certain gun type (scout, handcannon etc) and get a relevant gun for it but with the removal of "rolls" on weapons that's no longer an option as one Better Devils is the same as the next.

The fact they've removed so much choice from the game is annoying too, in D1 you could choose any particular strike if you wanted or just play the strike playlist, you could replay any story mission from the director or later on they added the heroic story playlist too, even when they removed a number of crucible options like the freelance playlist and putting clash, control, rift and supremacy on weekly rotations they still allowed you to pick which of those you wanted to play, only having quickplay and competitive means you end up playing modes you don't want to a lot and that reduces your desire to play.

I'm not quite at the point of having nothing to do as I still haven't finished the raid and I'd like to get a bit better at trials, but looking to the near future I'm not sure this game will have the same hold on me that D1 did and if I'd been playing solo and not joined the redcafe clan I would have even less to do. Maybe the updates and dlc will change things, I know D1 changed a lot from its release but for Bungie to have made these "errors" with D2 doesn't bode well.

The problem is that the team who developed D2 is mostly different from the "live team" who put in the changes that improved D1 and gave a lot more choice on what to do. PoE wasn't in the game at the start and came in a paid DLC.

There have been a few improvements, and I'm sure there'll be more modes added that they removed for whatever reason. I can see why they removed the roll aspect from guns and stuff - to make the game more accessible to the casual players - but as a result it has given the hardcore players less reason to play for extended periods.

As for the nightfall, at the start of D1, if everyone died, the fireteam was returned to orbit. It was only towards the end that they changed that so you didn't return to orbit and it made it much easier to solo. I think Bungie decided they wanted nightfall to be something that was hard to do and not something that could be soloed easily and so added in the time mechanics and lack of fixed burn which has ultimately made things more of a chore.

I've got no doubts they'll support the game and make continued improvements. In D1 at the start there wasn't even the option to "lock" weapons, so there were a lot of cases of gear being accidentally dismantled.

They could have just adjusted the roll system though so you didn't have "useless" perks, so whenever you got a gun it would be useable but you could still grind for a version you prefered, for instance if they removed range perks for handcannons they would have made them all more attainable, in D1 if your luna or pali didn't have rifled barrel you just dismantled it. Keep some variety and you could search for your favourite version of the weapon i.e. you might look for outlaw or hidden hand or icarus, now there's no point getting the same gun again as it's in no way different.

The main problem I have with nightfalls are the timers tbh, I hate time restrictions in any game though.

My fears before release were that this wouldn't be "The" game for me. Destiny 1 was the main game that I played from release until the Taken King. Grinding almost as often as I could (albeit, I was at Uni and had a lot of time to do so). Destiny 2 is far too alike to it's predecessor, in that sense, for me, personally, to grind to the same extent. Heck, I stopped playing strikes weeks ago. I haven't even completed the raid because my friends and I can't be bothered to spend more than 1-2 hours a week to complete any given part. I do enjoy Trials so I'll do that every week. As for the game itself, it's down the pecking order and will rotate it around with others such as Overwatch and PUBG.

Would this be worth getting if I didn't enjoy the first one? (had it over a year and only got to level 10 or something)

Is it significantly better/different than the first or just number 1 with a shiny new paint job? I can't seem to get into these grindy games such as this and The Division - I did/do however love Borderlands 2 so if D2 has injected a bit more fun I'd be willing to give it a bash.

It's still very much a destiny game but they have changed the amount of grind, there's no more random roll on weapons so it's easier to get what you want, exotics drop fairly frequently and armour perks have been simplified so no more grinding for a tier12 set.

Personally I think some of the "fun" has been dialed down, your abilities are on a slower cool down and there's no more titan skating/twilight garrison etc and they've changed weapon slots so you basically carry 2 primarys now (kinetic and energy) and shotguns and snipers have been put in the "power" weapon slot. The core gameplay is still very similar so if you didn't enjoy the first I'm not sure there have been enough changes to suggest you would like this one. I enjoy it but I played a lot of D1 so...

Just as I thought, thanks for the concise and detailed answer though :) guess I'll be sticking to Borderlands and Cod zombies until something similar (team orientated co-op FPS) pops up I'll enjoy. Gutted that Battlegrounds isn't coming to the PS4, even though that's not exactly the same it looks pretty damn good.

Nice, FWC token grinding has just popped me a Vigilance Wing, I hate pulse rifles usually, but this is, well it's a laser isn't it.

Nice. I got a Skyburner's Oath earlier.

Done the milestones on my Warlock for the week... on 304 now with just my gauntlets (303) stopping me from getting to 305.

How weird, I must have got the same reward at basically the same time

It's pretty much the perfect crucible weapon, not so great for PVE though.

Probably the best looking gun in the game also? I got the skin for it called book of the dead, prefer the standard look though.

That skyburners sounds really good! does it hit like a train?

Yesterday was good for exotics:

Insurmountable Skullfort
Vigilance wing
Doom something something pauldrons
Some static charge boot titan efforts
And some hunter boots that make you run faster and jump higher.

You can tell how my interest wains as the perks get shittier.

Managed to get all the decent FWC weapons though, the handcannon is particularly pleasant.

The only thing I like about the skyburners is that it can shoot through Phalanx shields, apart from that the cabal damage is only an extra 10% or something and doesn't really seem to make a difference.

Been leveling a Titan this week mostly, already 290+ thanks to my weapon levels and still got to do nightfall and call to arms. Anyone want to try the raid again sometime this week?

I've only just realised the consumables I've been collecting when out and about can be exchanged for reputation that leads to being rewarded engrams. Should I save these until I'm a higher power level before claiming the engrams, or does it not matter?

I'd say wait a bit. Will help with the push to 260. How much of the story have you done?

The next mission is 'Sacrilege' on Io, if that means anything to you.

I've done a lot of the adventure side missions and a LOT of public events as I can't drag myself away from doing every single one nearby. Currently 216.

Thats good going. I'm only just going through the adventures now. Done the ones on the first two planets and now on Nessus.

So am I better to focus on the story for now and leave the adventures? It sounds like I'm at the same stage as you on adventures. Just unlocked the Nessus ones earlier.

Finished the main story managed to get to 270 light, PSN is Doomham, I want to do raid + trials, will keep getting myself higher light till 285+ but if anyone wants to do some runs just message me . Novice at the modes but can pick up quickly and hold my own, hopefully with some chill people! Wanna catch up with you higher light levels!

Got the raid pretty much finished last night, it's not that difficult actually once you know exactly what you're doing.

The worst part is people not actually wanting you to join if you aren't experienced.
