Dejan Lovren

He looks shite.

£50 million on Lovren, Lallana and Lambert

Most of the time he looked good last year, but he always has mistakes in him. You know if you put pressure on him, he will gift you goals sooner rather than later. In most cases you dont even have to pressurize him, it happens.

Out of their back 4, only Moreno looks like a defender who should be playing for a title challenging side.

Guess he´s missing Fonte :smirk:

Looks a bit rash and doesn't look like the commanding centre back that Pool needed. Still early days though.

Not even getting into how good he is, I think it's odd how Liverpool have ended up with a goalkeeper and two centre halves who don't look comfortable in Rodgers' system, at least in terms of having to be very comfortable with the ball at their feet and playing out from the back.

Looked solid enough at Southampton. Will probably need a few weeks to settle down at liverpool.
Should be fine.

Looked woeful today and was more shaky than Skrtel which takes some doing. Could at least think of 2 instances where he was poor and left Berahino with free headers. Could have proved costly against better teams.

I remember one poster (I can't remember who) saying last season that he was surprised by Lovren's form at Southampton, and that it was only a matter of time till he reverts back to form. Looks like he may have been right.

Called it.

Overrated and overpriced.

That's true enough, but I don't really rate Lovren. Lallana for instance is overpriced as well but he's a very good player. I can't say the same for Lovren.

14m for Borini is an absolute joke so I guess it balances out for you guys.

He's terrible. The problem for Rodgers is that he bought Sakho for 17m and he's even worse.

Hello.

Altough @Mali_Zeus had the same opinion. It was probably because we both watched him before last season too and knew how shit he was for Croatia.

Sakho's actually a very good cb imo. He just can't force his way into their team as Rodgers has it stuck in his head that Lovren and Skrtel are brilliant. Sakho also seems to have a poor attitude now having got frustrated at his lack of chances at Liverpool.

Ill have a dose of whatever you're on please mate.

Based on what? He's been dodgy as feck at Liverpool, no wonder Brentan doesn't trust him. Touch of an elephant, awful positioning and horrendous weight of passing. He's not getting chances cos he's been shite when he's played. Shocking player.

Sakho's a dreadful player mate. But your problems seem to be more systematic than personnel. Set piece defending that calamitous just shouldn't be happening no matter who is playing.

Didn't see much of him last season so kinda just went along with the praise he was receiving in the media. Have watched most of Liverpool's games this season, and have been unimpressed with him in pretty much all the games.

I'm not a pool fan.

Just when I do happen to watch a Liverpool game and Sakho plays, he seems to do ok. Athletic and pacey, strong and decent passing. Just prone to an error now and then which isn't surprising given he's young'ish (for a cb) and doesn't get regular playing time.

They laugh about our defensive worries but I'd only take Moreno from their defensive players, and we don't even really need him.

Altough @Mali_Zeus had the sane opinion. It was probably because we both watched him before last season too and knew how shit he was for Croatia.

Looks like you made a great call last season!

I must admit, I actually thought he looked good last year, and quite fancied us going for him :nervous:

He's basically the French Micah Richards. Burst on to the scene at a young age due to his exceptional physique and then people slowly realised he was a technically useless, brainless lump. Then Rodgers bought him for £18m.

Richards was a quality player and suffered through injuries, had nothing to do with not being good enough.

Quality player is a real stretch. Giggs had him on toast every time they faced up.

Can't say I watched him too much in Ligue 1 but Phillipe Auclair on the guardian podcast hinted that last year was a bit of an anomaly for Lovren in terms of level of performance.

I guess it's just natural for posters to make the assumption that you are a Pool fan simply from you defending Sakho. :D Yes he is that mediocre. I wouldn't call him a bad CB but he is not worth 18 mil and it is just befuddling at how he starts ahead of Koscielny for France. I don't rate Skrtel at all but I would place him above Sakho tbh.

As I said in the other thread he's a decent player but he has too many brain farts, for Croatia he used to have a minimum of one mistake every game and some of those mistakes were costly, even last year he made some penalties and stupid challenges for Soton although he had a good season.
He is too harsh in some situations and doesnt think just runs like a headless chicken or he makes a challenge without thinking about it.
He had a better protection in midfield in Southampton, in Liverpool he doesnt have that and some of his weaknesses are coming out.

Him being brainless that often is a problem for Croatia too. Ćorluka is aging and isnt the same as he used to be, and we dont have so many good CBs around. At least young Jedvaj is emerging as a good player for Bayer. Dont know if he played in the CL this week.

Why is this still open? Have we been linked with him again or should it not have been closed when he chose to go to Liverpool in the Summer?

May as well close every thread about a player who doesn't play for united so.

Do you not think he closed the door on a future move to us when he signed for them? There's already a thread for discussing Liverpool in the football forum. Transfer forum should be for talking about potential United players.

Seems to me like a lot of negative opinion based not on facts/stats but because he is not a United player. Same can be said of Sakho. It's really interesting to see how they match up against Jones/Evans/Koscielny (stats from 2013/14). Note how good Evans' stats are, even though he seems to get a very bad rap on here at times. Notice also (Sakho) how often he plays forward passes (with a very high pass completion %) and the number of errors that have lead to a goal.

It's also interesting to see the Lovren vs Koscielny match-up. I always rated Koscielny however he is not only inferior to Lovren overall but very much so to Sakh0 .. maybe helping to explain why Sakho keeps him out of the French national team.
