Dejan Lovren

selling lambert really opened the floodgates for their team. Lallana and Shaw were allways going to leave this summer, but selling lambert was a precident that a good offer would land anyone in their squad. losing the manager didnt help mind. saints to go down at this rate.

agreed, they will need a miracle from their new signings to stay up at this rate

They've signed Pelle who by all accounts is a very decent Eredivisie striker (was 2nd top scorer and would've been top if not for peno's) as well as Tadic, an attacking midfielder who scored 16 goals in the Eredivisie last season and got 14 assists. Obviously Eredivisie isn't always the best way to judge quality but clearly two potentially very good players, especially Tadic and I'm sure more are on the way...
From what I have heard from all Italians is that Pelle is absolute gash. Lets not forget that Altidore also put up similar numbers in the Eredivisie too and we all know how shit he is.

Southampton's main XI last season were:
Boruc
Chambers/Clyne - Lovren - Fonte - Shaw
Cork - Schneiderlin
Lallana - Davis - Jay
Lambert

With Lambert, Lallana, and Shaw already gone and with talks of Lovren, Schneiderlin, Chambers and Jay Rodriguez leaving too it is verging on almost the entire starting XI. Will have to hope the likes of JWP, Matt Targett and Sam Gallagher can really step up.

Talked to one or two Dutch fans and they rate him. I mean obviously compared to other Italian optiions he's not great but I guess we'll see how he gets on.

Southhampton were 60-1 to get relegated a few months back. Now they are 5-1.

I knew they were going to get rid of a few players but they have now sold 4 first team players and probably Schneiderlin aswell. Dont know much about Chambers.. but massive task for them to stay up now.

Who next from Soton to Liverpool?

Good signing for Liverpool tbh. And a good one for our NT too.

Yet another signing from them that barely makes me constipated rather than shit my pants. Keep going. Or go again etc.

That should be it from Southampton. Clyne would be ok, but it seems like we're getting Manquillo so no need. Schneiderlin is good, but again, no need. I'd pass on the rest.

He's the first player Liverpool have signed this summer, who will make an immediate impact in the first team IMO. Very good addition.

Exactly, Soton - Liverpool B.

They sold half of their team to Liverpool, when will they start spending all that money. Have they bought anyone?
Tadic from FC Twente and Pelle from Feyenoord. I'm guessing they'll get more players from Eredivisie since Koeman coached there last season.

Eugh, that is seriously hideous. Is that really from their official site?

Yep unfortunately, he's very good, only 24 and will walk into their first team. If they add a few more players of his quality then it'd be a good summer for them. Whether they actually will spend the cash they say they have set aside on top of the Suarez fee remains to be seen.

Are they going to play 3 at the back? Or will Suarez leaving mean Sturridge up front on his own with Coutinho/Lallana/whoever behind? Because they have 4 centre backs now of quite a similar quality, only Lovren really stands out.

I left a comment under that pic: "Dejo ne pričaj svašta - Dejo, dont talk bollocks."

I think next thing is a dig at United, wonder when that will be.

He has been involved in literally every goal Liverpool have conceeded this season, and so far is turning to be an awful buy for them.
I've been saying it last year that his performances for Southampon have been way overrated and that he is just another CB with few brainfarts per game, but people kept insisting that he has been great for some reason even though hardly anyone was probably paying close atention to him. It's probably down to Gary Neville who was praising him quite a lot for reasons known just to him. Tbf he was good for first few months after coming to Southampton, but since then he was really average and lived on reputation of those few first months.

Normally these kind of assessments are extremely hyperbolic but he really has been at fault somehow for just about every goal Liverpool have conceded this season. Early days and all that, but it isn't convincing.

It was the same with Lyon, he was responsible for most of the goal they conceded, i "hope" that he is not becoming is old self.

I think he was sold short on the goal tbh. A combination of Moreno being on the edge of the opposition's box, and Henderson and Gerrard past the halfway line, allowed their player to have acres of space in the no.10 position, to pick out a pass to a runner.

The problem tonight is that Lovren's not the quickest on the turn, but a lot of defenders are going to have moments where they don't cover themselves in glory if you let the opposition have such freedom in advanced areas.

Defensively, the issues all seem systematic and Brendan's fault rather than individual. Unless we have a string of international centre backs who can't defend.

Besides the goal, I thought he was the best player on the pitch for us (which admittedly isn't saying much).

Poor player, do not rate him at all.

He looks the type that would settle with a solid partner by his side, remember Vidic having the very same qualities when he came to United, half a season next to Ferdinand and Vidic blossomed. Lovren sadly for him lacks that quality with Sahko and Skrtel, csan only see the nervy start continuing, god help them when Madrid come to town.

Or worse when the Di Maria Road Show rolls into town. Madrid are more dangerous but falling to us would be more painful.
