Deadpool (contains spoilers, obviously)

I really hope this does well financially. Might shake things up in the genre.

Agreed, its been fantastic. There have been some other vids which I havent posted but have been great (leadup to the last trailer). Not long to go before seeing it in the cinema :D
Can you post them please? I can't find any others.

Edit - Scrap that, I found them in all one video:

United must have signed a deal with 20th century fox.

We're fully into the movie marketing business these days it seems.

I do love that pciture though.

I think I'd have enjoyed a career in marketing.

I had noticed Deadpool being pushed pretty hard on the ad-boards at OT during home games. Didn't think it would go as far as a promotional video of Deadpool taking a penalty for United and then kissing Wayne Rooney.

Ryan Reynolds has probably had more fun marketing this film than he's had making the thing!

To be fair, I could screen Transformers 2,3 and 4 to a mostly tailor made crowd and get positive "early" feedback. An somewhat unfair comparison though ;)

Transformers dark of the moon was surprisingly good!

My expectations watching it a 1am by myself on sky couldn't have been much lower, but it was alright

Yeah but fair play to him. There's plenty of irreverant characters in movies, few people would have been this committed to this level of genius marketing.
Do we know for sure it is Reynolds in every ad ? It would be easy to use actors with costumes and him only doing the voice ? One thing is sure, Reynolds is very involved at least.

Not sure the humour will work fully knowing it's Ryan bloody Reynolds behind it.

Not sure if it's Reynolds in every single one of the promos, but he was on the Graham Norton show recently, and he's basically traveling the world dressed as Deadpool marketing the shit out of the film. I wouldn't be surprised if it was him in a lot of them. He is a huge reason why the film even got made. He's been pushing a Deadpool film since before that really, really shitty Wolverine film he was in as Wade Wilson.

I haven't really read many Deadpool comics before, so I read a few this week. And honestly, I'm now hoping this isn't a pitch perfect 100% accurate portrayal of the character. Because I didn't really enjoy the comics. The over the top action is fun, but constant winking at the audience for the sake of being meta isn't my thing.

Has there been some 4th wall breaking in the trailers? And I mean from the actualy movie footage? Can't really recall, so might be safe on that front.

He mentions the green lantern suit.

"you might be wondering why the red suit" or was that to another character? i forgot.

That was to hide blood. And then he points at a guy wearing brown trousers and says "This guy has got the right idea"

Well without breaking the 4th wall it won't really be Deadpool. They just have to use it sparingly and thoughtfully.

I'd be surprised if the film is far removed from the character in the comics, as a large proportion of the target audience will be existing fans of Deadpool. The film will probably acquire new fans, as comic book films always do, but I'm certain it will be geared towards fans primarily.

In the trailer scene where he climbs through to the front of the taxi he pushes against the camera and says "excuse me".

Yes. Reynolds was told by a fan on Twitter to let the promo keep going for another 12 months before releasing the movie and he said that he'd like to see his family a lot sooner. This tells me he may be the one doing all the promo stuff in person behind the costume.
