Deadpool (contains spoilers, obviously)

Without breaking the fourth wall it wouldn't be Deadpool.

I don't know that much about Deadpool but fair enough...but then why make the villain literally the most serious/nasty villlain that there's been in any Marvel film? It''s a minor gripe anyway...the film was basically what I expected it to be oon the whole so I wasn't disappointed.

I think it's to contrast with the ridiculousness of Deadpool. Having said that, Marvel haven't exactly got a brilliant track record with their movie villains so they probably just spun the 'Wheel of Evil' and it landed on nasty.

Exactly. It kind of lightens the mood surely. I don't see why they clash at all.

From what I do know about the character/comic (which is practically nothing so correct me if I'm wrong) is that it's known for being uber violent and for having a character aware that he's in a comic, two things which the film pretty much nailed.

Yeah mate that's pretty much about it. This is why I really liked it, it felt like the comic on the big screen. Of course I would have loved it to go absolutely bat shit crazy and end up in space or some shit like he tends to do in the comics but there was a budget to hit.

A couple of gripes that I had;

The flashback/flash forward bits didn't sit right with me. I would have preferred the backstory to be told as a whole after the "kebab" bit because it messed with the pacing of the film and made me think "wait, is this the final fight" when they all arrived at the ship, simply because up until that point the film still felt like it was just finishing up with the first act.

The film was also too funny. I demand my action hero movies to be dark and serious. Down with this sort of thing. Ok so I'm being sarcastic here, I actually can't think of anything else I didn't like about the film apart from the pacing issues - which I appreciate won't be a problem for everyone.

The bit near the end with the Hello Kitty gun bag still in the taxi and the Stewart/McAvoy joke were my favourite bits.

Saw this yesterday and enjoyed it a lot. Didn't really know much about the character other than what I'd seen in the trailers, but it lived up to expectation from what everyone has been saying about it.

That's like meta meta or the fourth fourth wall.

The fourth wall cubed? The sixteenth wall?

What a cracking movie this is

Just watched it for the first time

You would want to be a bit dead inside not to enjoy it...

...now to read the thread which should be a sea of positivity
