Just give the man what he wants, doesn't make sense if we don't, he is our best player and we won't sign another GK anywhere near his quality
I wonder if we're procrastinating to get Sanchez off the wage bill in the summer?
At the time even though he made a few mistakes his talent was so damn obvious, took pundits ages to swallow their pride and admit they were wrong about him.Who remembers when this guy first apperared on the scene. Everyone ( pundits etc.. ) was having a pop at him and the little mistakes he was making. Even pointing out saves he was making with his feet. Pure gold.
I remember this. Was pissing me off big time. Everything he did had to fit in the narrative of Utd not being able to properly replace VDS as we couldnt replace Schmeichel before that...it was a loads of codswallop. He took a while to grow into the confidence he needed for England and the high-balls - but it wasn't like he was shaky or dodgy. As you say - even when he made saves with his legs people said it was "unorthodox" and looked a bit off. I wish they'd own up to it now though.Who remembers when this guy first apperared on the scene. Everyone ( pundits etc.. ) was having a pop at him and the little mistakes he was making. Exactly right, he is worth far more to us than £300 a week. He is the core of the team and will entice other top players, especially Spanish to the team.Just give the man what he wants, doesn't make sense if we don't, he is our best player and we won't sign another GK anywhere near his quality
Rob Dawson: "David De Gea is happy to commit his future to Manchester United but is pushing for a deal that would make him one of the club's highest paid players, sources have told ESPN FC...the goalkeeper, who turned 28 in November, is aware that this could be his last sizeable contract and he is keen to be included in the club's top wage bracket alongside Paul Pogba and Alexis Sanchez."

It is absolutely an issue; especially after the Sanchez-deal. I hope De Gea will sign, and there is some hope that what you are referring to does not make it possible to extend his contract until the summer; when we probably will be forced get rid of Sanchez and/or other players on high wages as Mata/Fellaini/Lukaku/Matic.Are we affected by the PL wage increase rules?
From what I've read it seems you can only increase your wages by £7M a year unless you can show that the excess is due to increases in operating profit
I'd imagine with our endless new sponsors, operating profit is increasing year on year and maybe this doesn't effect us
But something to think about anyway
I'm sorry, but I don't want him to sigh new contract, not yet anyway. After CL final. If he signs now, he will turn to shite just like Luke did, and then we are doomed.
meh, joking, it's Dave after all.
If Sanchez really is such a professional as claimed and shown by his cringeworthy instagram videos, he'd take a pay cut to play regularly. Send him to Italy in exchange for Koulibaly or Skriniar. The sort of money that Sanchez is on, makes it almost impossible to move him on anywhere apart from China. I do hope that we can get him fit and playing somewhere close to what he was for Arsenal. He may have cost nothing in transfer fee, but that 350k per week really sticks in ones craw. Especially if your name is Anthony Martial.
We can't afford losing him IF and it's a big If, it is only about money.
Think we could get a replacement for Martial a lot easier than De Gea. De Gea is a match winner so many times, Martial has done that about half a dozen times in 3 seasons.I love a guy who does his contract negotiations on the pitch, rather than in the media through his agent
And If I am gonna be honest - I am more concerned about Martial leaving than DDG. De Gea looks happy at United, Martial…I am less convinced about
Although I want Sanchez to do well here, as I do any player we sign.Send him to Italy in exchange for Koulibaly

sounds like he is staying.

If all he wants is 300k, just give him 350k
Give him whatever he wants plus 50k more, he worths every penny of it.
