You can't just decide to compare DDG's wages with other goal keepers across Europe, instead like with every other player you have to consider what he is woth to United.

Because if you compare his wages to others, it would then only be "fair" to compare others too, then you get something like this:
Rooney's wages almost on Ronaldo/Messi level
Fellaini and Young earn what Modric earns
Smalling on more than Varane
Januzaj on almost as much as Isco
.....

DDG to us is worth a lot, he is going to probably win our player of the year twice in a row, so 200 k for him especially if you compare his worth to us with some of our other high earners is nothing out of the world.

'De Gea silence frustrates United'
Manchester United are becoming increasingly frustrated with lack of information David de Gea has given them regarding his future at the club.

De Gea has been the subject of fierce speculation linking him with a move to Real Madrid. The Daily Mail’s north-west football correspondent, Ian Ladyman, revealed United have no idea whether the Spaniard will accept a lucrative new deal at Old Trafford or return back to his home city.

United have reportedly ruled out a swap deal which would see long-term target Gareth Bale head in the opposite direction for De Gea.

And, speaking on the Sunday Supplement, Ladyman backed up this notion, claiming United were addressing both the acquisition of Bale, and keeping hold of De Gea, as separate issues.

“Bale and De Gea are two separate subjects as far as Manchester United are concerned and that’s the way they would like to keep it,” he said.

“They are desperate to make sure De Gea doesn’t become part of a Bale move, they are not interest in offering the goalkeeper in part exchange for Bale.

“With De Gea, they obviously want to keep him; they are offering him a lot of money. They also understand why he might want to leave; they are not stupid at Manchester United.

“What is frustrating United at the moment is that De Gea has given them absolutely no indication about what he might want to do.

“They haven’t got a clue because he clearly hasn’t made his mind up. There comes a time, though, when there has to be a date when they say ‘David we need this decision now’.”

Former Tottenham midfielder Bale was the subject of a bid from Manchester United before he signed for Los Blancos in September 2013.

United’s interest in Bale has not dampened in the ensuing years, and Ladyman confirmed manager Louis van Gaal would have the funds to try to lure the Welshman, and further high-profile targets, to Old Trafford in the summer.

“With Bale it’s slightly less complicated,” Ladyman added. “United would like to sign him but they don’t know if Bale will be the marquee signing Real decide to sell this summer.

“We all know Madrid sell a big-name player every summer. If it is Bale, United will be involved.

“What people are saying privately is that the money is there not only for Bale, but for a whole lot of players as well.

“That’s good news for Van Gaal because he wouldn’t want to go into the summer choosing between transfer targets.

“United are saying to him ‘buy your players, do what you want to do and if other players become available we’ll buy them as well’.”

Tbf there's a whole list of positions we should be strengthening before thinking of a mega signing like Bale IMO. We're only as strong as our weakest link and right now that's midfield and defence

Of course - I guess if they offered Carvajal + cash for De Gea, that would also be decent.

DDG is gone. His body language this last month tells you everything you need to know.
Apparently he has bought a house in Madrid (his agents quotes via Twitter) so, if true, then we need to hope we get a suitable replacement.

Can't say I've seen any body language which indicates he's leaving. I've seen him look pissed off when United concede a goal. I've not seen him make an aeroplane gesture with his hands, signalling that he is soon to fly to Madrid and never return, or whatever it is that is so telling that he's leaving.

I think he's going to leave sadly.....however if we can nab someone like Carvajal then I would be quite happy with that.

Tbf the save he made towards the end of the Everton game looked like he was about to take off.

According to me, he has signed a new 2 year deal which will be confirmed this week. If I am correct, all you DDG lovers must bow at my superior knowledge.

According to Manchester United De Gea costs 60 million euros!, of course if United wants a swap would be great for them but is too much for a goalkeeper.I wouldn´t like undersell Bale. In that case Madrid should look for another goalkeeper and ask 135 million for Bale(what Bayern is willing to pay, according to As :http://futbol.as.com/futbol/2015/05/03/primera/1430643466_978286.html ). I also read that United might be interested in Handanovic, from Inter.

When have Bayern ever paid massive transfer fees? They just buy the best Dortmund players for peanuts.

2 years strikes me as an odd length of deal.

If it's true it makes you wonder whether there was some truth to his request for a buyout clause and this is the happy middle ground, kind of a "give us two years to show you we're serious about rebuilding" kinda thing.

Ive already accepted he's leaving, if he was going to sign an extension then he'd have done it weeks ago.

This whole thing has gone on far too long now which suggests to me he's leaving.

I just hope we make madrid pay through the roof and we come out on top for a change.

DAVID DE GEA is ready to hand Manchester United a massive boost by signing a new two-year deal worth around £20million.

The Spanish star will accept United’s £200,000-a-week offer and snub interest from Real Madrid.

Keeper De Gea, 24 is happy to stay at Old Trafford until the summer of 2017.

But he could then walk away for free.

De Gea knows that Real would not be able to match United’s offer, especially as they would need to pay a huge fee to persuade them to sell.

This way De Gea can control his own destiny.

He can pick up a bumper pay rise if he signs for Louis van Gaal now and then lets his deal run out in a couple of seasons.

The former Atletico Madrid ace, who has developed into one of United’s best players, has considered his next move over the past few weeks.

And he told friends at the weekend that the size and length of the new United contract is perfect for him.

But why would he let his deal run out in a couple of seasons when he can do it now...If he is happy he should renew for 5 or 6 years instead 2..

Don't bother posting stuff from the Express/listen to anything they have to say. Trust me they are the worst British 'source' for anything ever.

Bet they only made that article so they could have the headline 'David De Stayer'. Was thinking just the other day that The Sun would be disappointed that it looks like he's leaving as they wouldn't be able to do that headline.

I fecking hate "media" that "writes" "articles" that doesn't contain more than five words per paragraph. I suppose employing kids is one way of cutting costs, though.

Give him 200k a week and he can have penalty taking duties as well.

Ok thanks, good to know, actually I read it in "mundodeportivo" that was naming Express, is the sun trustable?

Tbf, it's Alan "The Boss of Goss" Nixon who wrote the article, how can you not trust a man with that nickname!
