I agree with @Devil may care. Valdes needs to learn the premier league and will have problems in the beginning just like DDG had (high balls in the box, less protection from the referee). Even in Spain Valdes wasnt very good with dealing with crosses in the box, he was very good at 1on1 and rushing out of his goal though.

Valdes is already quite old, he is used to the Spanish style of goalkeeping in a less demanding league in which his former team dominated. I dont know if Valdes can learn the English style of goalkeeping fast enough (or at all)

Maybe it's time to sacrifise a lamb so DDG will stay...

@Stadjer gave my reply in truth and even with coaching he's old and coming off an injury, it's very unlikely he's suddenly going to develop the ability to win those aerial balls as it took a younger DDG less set in his ways 2 seasons to get a grip, it's pointless wasting that kind of time on a keeper like Valdes who was no great shakes anyway. We should go for Lloris or see if Chelsea will do business for Cech.
 
With Daniel Taylor saying he's in talk with Madrid, I'd be extremely fecked off with him if he goes for something cheap like £20M or a free. He at least owed us signing a new deal and us getting £40M for him.
 
Deep down, we all know he's off. The Valdes signing as good as confirmed it, its just that none of us want it to be real.

If what Taylor said is true (I'm hoping not!) then De Gea should never play for Utd again.
 
For what we payed for him and have ultimately made him through many hours and installed faith in the lad, if he was to walk away for 20m or worse, free then to me he is would be a massive knob.
 
F*cking tired of Real just waiting for other clubs to develop players and then just paying whatever to get them and using their cheap tactics to force the move all summer long. This is depressing.

We still need him because we're trying to end this season on the 2nd place. He's simply too good.

He's a crucial part that Fergie and Van Gaal was working on to get him on top of the football shelf.
 
It makes sense that he wants to go back to Madrid, especially if the reports of his GF not liking life in Manchester are true. I'm sure his family prefer to live in Spain also. Casillas isn't going to last much longer either.

As if that is going to happen

If he leaves which I expect he will, it will be this summer and he is not going to sign and then leave a month or two later

Would be extremely disappointed in him. Though maybe Real have told Mendes that they wouldn't be willing to pay 40 odd million so he's worried he'll miss his chance if he renews.

Yeah and as soon as he gets there he buggers off on the cheap despite all we've done for him.

If he is already in talks then drop him and get Victor involved, make a statement that we aren't going to be treated like mugs.
 
Was there a Utd in press programme today? It's all come from one Utd based twitter account, and I haven't seen it replicated elsewhere. Maybe I'm clutching at straws but I still think if we guarantee CL football he will stay.

Real would defo pay 40 for him, if that's the case it's Real being Real. Bastards.

Even fecking Suarez signed a new contract 6 months before leaving meaning liverpool got about £30M more then they would have.

Annoyed if DDG doesn't do the same with us.

He owes us nothing but it would be a pretty poor way to leave, Real would buy him irrespective of the cost so him signing a contract would have been nice for us

Owes us nothing. How about we made him the player he is. Could easily of fecked him off when he was dropping clanger after clanger.

Should give us at least 2 more seasons, but sounds like he will disappear as soon as he can.

I don't like the news either, but there's never been a big secret that he wants to return to Spain at some point. With Casillas at the twilight of his RM career and with DDG playing at a 'Galactico' level, there's not a surprise they see DDG as the ideal heir to Casillas. I bet it's just DDG asking his representatives to seek out the possibility of a return to Spain, either because he wants it now or because he's weighing up his options before he signs a new contract. And it's not like he's been throwing tantrums or playing poorly while this has been going on behind closed doors. He hasn't, he's been absolutely magnificent. Don't see why you want us to risk a CL spot by giving our best player an early vacation ahead of his dream move later in the summer.

He was having a great career before he came to us.
