Read a weird transfer rumour today that DDG would want to leave for Real Madrid and has given his word already but not for next season but for the 2016-2017 season. Rumour also said we'd agree with the move if DDG agreed to signing a new contract so we could sell him to Madrid instead of just letting him go. So if that be true we'd get more money and 1 more season of David in the goal and DDG would get his move to spain. Don't know if it is true but sounds possible.

Still hope he just signs a new contract and gives the finger to the cnuts from Madrid but I rather have him sign a new contract and make a move next year than having to let him go this summer that is for sure.

Also 2 young interesting keepers to replace him with are Matt Ryan (club brugge and australian GK) and Forster who has been the most impressive keeper this season behind DDG and Courtois imo. But Cech would be the best to replace him ofc.

Wouldn't want either of them. Although I think Ryan would absolutely be brilliant with his distribution here, it's just his size which may be an issue in the English game.

That is what happened with Ronaldo. He was actually originally going to leave the season before he did on agreement but SAF convinced him to stay for another year.

I must say i'm starting to get really worried with his situation, was pretty sure earlier in the season that he would put his name to a new contract.
It is just a bit weird to me he would join the rivals of his boyhood club, if he does move i guess it mean's much to him living in Madrid.

I've felt since Christmas that he wouldn't sign a new contract with us.

Really feel we've to push Madrid for an excellent deal, otherwise I'd keep him the extra season and risk losing him for nothing.

He's worth more to us in nets another season than £20 million.

He's obviously considering leaving, at the very least. If he wasn't he would have signed a contract a long time ago.

Weird time to leave the club though. We're on the up, surely he would want to get bad to the top. He has plenty of time left in his career to join madrid if he really wanted to.

He'd be impossible to replace but I wonder would van Gaal be tempted into starting with Valdes as number one next season, should we lose de Gea of course.

Wouldn't this make him the highest paid Goalkeeper in the world? The best goalkeeper in the world Neuer is only on £105k a week, so if De Gea won't accept the 140k then there is probably no chance of him signing a new contract.

Yep, Hart's on around 120k/week and is the best paid keeper at this moment.

£140k? I would offer him 200k because he is a world class keeper and it's going to be tough finding replacement for him.

I will get annoyed whoever says Valdes. He had a serious injury and might not be the same player he was.

How would people view him if he left us now? the club invested a lot in him as a very young keeper, the fans have supported him all the way and he's only 24. Surely he could pay us some respect and wait a bit longer.

I think £25m should be the minimum fee, we bought him for around £20m. I wouldn't say it would be impossible to replace him, there is some good options out there with Cech, Begovic etc. I'm not sure Valdes has the required quality, think it would be a gamble going into a new season with him as our first choice.

I think I'd be comfortable with affording Valdes the chance to impress should we find it difficult signing a quality 'keeper to replace de Gea.

I'd like Lloris but Tottenham are a nightmare to deal with, he'd probably cost more than de Gea.

I remember reading in this thread that we can't exactly expect loyalty from someone who left their boyhood club to join us, and I'd probably agree with that.

For me personally, I would beg Jose for Cech.

I don't expect everlasting loyalty from him, or anything close, but he's still a baby in terms of goalkeeping. Why rush off as soon as we're getting our act together?

Either way, I think we should start looking out for a GK whether or not he stays. What are our scouts doing? If he hasn't signed a contract now, it's very obvious why.

His missus is a few years older, she's probably looking to settle down.

Don't think money or his love for Manchester United has ever been the issue here.

City are amazing, never change City.

Yeah, it's amazing. Having a look around and some sites are saying that Hart and Casillas are on around the same figure, Neuer, Buffon, Cech and Courtois are all on around 100k/week (Courtois was on 30k/week until he signed a new contract in September), Reina 80k and de Gea and Lloris both on 70k.

Some goalkeepers are severely underpaid in contrast to what outfield players are earning!

we will have CL football next year due to him and he has never spoke ill of the club. cant blame him for wanting to go home and be with his missus

I guess so, but Real Madrid will be one of our biggest rivals in the Champions League next season and the thought of feeding them Dave just fills me with disgust. I can't stand that club.

If he wants to go back home, who can blame him, can have a choice of whatever club he wants. I would wish him the best as he has done well for us.

There are lots of good GKs at the moment with very little to choose between them. DDG is definitely near the top, but what will be will be.

I would give Valdes a year to prove himself, but if Cech was available, I would grab him.

I'd be pissed off at him. Would not look fondly upon him whatsoever.

I mean, jesus, there's more to life than fecking warm weather. I lived in Australia for 15 years and prefer England.

It's not just the weather though is it? His girlfriend lives there and if they want to start a family, he'll probably do it in Spain considering her career means she has to stay there, while he has the option of moving back there for his career.

I would hope that he performs terribly at Madrid and he ends up on Real Madrids bench with Casillas returning to peak form. After spending a few years on the bench he will join a second rate CL club and when he faces United I would hope our attackers completely humiliate him and put 5/6 goals past him.

He's a quality goal keeper so I doubt that will happen, but I really can't wish him well. I remember when he was getting destroyed by everyone due to his subpar performances and the club stood by him through it all when a lot of clubs would have just replaced him all together.

If he signs a new contract and we get a world record keeper fee for him then all the best, but if he runs down his contract and does some judas stuff then feck him.

Not that bothered anymore. Losing Ronaldo to Real was a blow but we have done as much for this guys career as he has done for us and indeed carried him for at least the first season. Owes us a little more than one season at his best if you ask me.

Next season we should be a lot less reliant on our GK and will be looking for what they can offer as a sweeper/keeper as much as shot stopping. De Gea is a great shot stopper no doubt but in other areas he is replaceable.

Cech has had a few digs at us on Twitter and I doubt Mourinho would gift us such a quality 'keeper. But yeah, take him in a heartbeat.
Any examples? I'd always thought of him as a quiet, professional type and one of the few Chelsea players who I've actually liked over recent years.
