I would make him richer than Rooney or Falcao!!!!

I just think no CL football next season would be disastrous for the club. Players at the club will wait for contract talks and we can forget to get top top players next summer.

I think everyone of us United fans on this forum would agree, I don't think it will happen and we will grasp it even if we finish 4th but there's still a lot of points to be won and we put a lot of faith in Dave when he was costing us games so we can't forget that now he's winning us games, but he does deserve to be playing CL but even if he isn't with us in the next 2/3 years we really need him on a new contract so if Madrid do want him we make a good profit, it would be more disastrous if we lost Dave on the cheap or even worse Free.

Longest sentence ever?! :p

If we don't qualify for the UCL this season, I see no way that De Gea will still stay at United. Don't expect him to renew his contract either until UCL qualification is sealed.

Some saying how he deserves CL football, wonder what club or fans deserve then. When he had tough time, all stood behind him and gave him support.Looking whats going on with Bale, not sure would be the same in Real.

On the RedCafe Twitter Feed on the home page, there's currently a blog post from ElConfidencial(?) saying that Real are willing to sell Ronaldo now. More interestingly, at the bottom it states that de Gea has rejected a contract we put on the table to him a few weeks ago.

Last night I had a dream that De Gea announced that he wouldn't sign a new contract and that he's either off in the summer if the club agrees a fee with Madrid or he leaves on a free when his contract runs out. I wouldn't even be mad at him for leaving. I hate seeing how angry he gets every time we concede, as if he dies a little inside every time.

Ozio that's shameful. He has lots of money and a hot girlfriend. You need to get your priorities right.

Apart from the fact I'm sick of Madrid always hanging around us like a bad smell, I'm surprised he, as an Atletico supporter, will/would/probably be going there.

Who knows, he may yet surprise us all and stay here for life. I'd love to get them in the CL next year and knock them out and he runs up to their supporters in the Bernabau and rubs it in their faces!

Doubt it'd be anywhere near as fierce, the abuse.

I don't know now....He did write an open letter to the club and their fans when he arrived here. Telling them he loved them etc. They also had a banner of him there for awhile, albeit quite a small one, when he left them for us....And then for him to go to Real?!

I'd say they'd give him plenty of abuse....Minus the pig's head

More likely to be non-United fans reading that Mirror article than seeing the facebook poll.

I must be the 1% then as I'd have Bale in a minute in this team over DDG. As much as DDG is s brilliant shot stopper his refusal at coming of his line is annoying! The best scenario would be having both obviously.

Great GKs are far harder to find than attackers.

World class keepers are even harder.

Think Bale and someone like Cech wouldnt be a drop off. Obviously in an Ideal world we'd keep DDG but if he isn't for signing before the summer i'd hope he is punted and if we can use him to lure Madrid to sell Bale then it must be done.

But, if you have a good defense, attackers will win you more games. I LOVE DDG, and would hate for him to leave. But if given a chance for Neymar/Bale in a swap deal I would take it in a heart beat.

I am sure he will sign a new contract but it means very little. If Real Madrid want him they will pay a ridiculous fee and get him.

I have a feeling hell sign a new contract but leave in a couple of seasons to replace Iker. It will be a bit like the Ronaldo situation. Let's just hope we don't sign a keeper of Valencia standard to replace him.

Gomes

I think it's ridiculous when we already have his replacement on the bench. We don't really need De Gea.

We wont drop our guards, you you snake! please don`t take him

I just hope we don't get a repeat of what happened after Schmeichel left. We ended up with some very iffy goalies before we signed Van Der Sar.

Why are they so much cheaper, then? Do you know something the people who sign the cheques don't?
Don't be so deliberately obtuse. How many world class keepers are there in the world today? How many keepers who are now world class were bought at that level? It's all fun and games saying keepers aren't worth a lot but you are far more likely to find apt replacement for a world class forward like Bale than for a direct replacement in ability with De Gea.

I actually don't understand your point. Because keepers are cheaper, we can find a keeper as good as De Gea?

Same reason as defenders are much cheaper than strikers or wingers. Their job is to prevent goals and scoring goals is seen as being much more important therefore players that can do that are much more expensive. IMO there are only 3 world class goalkeepers in the world today (Neuer, De Gea, and Courtois in that order). There are several world class strikers and wingers out there. Top goalkeepers are obviously a commodity. If we don't sign Bale there are other players at a similar level to him we could get. If we lose De Gea anyone that is available to replace him will be a step down.

And we can find someone as good as Bale? I was and still am all for DDG even when he was going through his tough times. But the hype surrounding him now has went the other way. He is magnificent at shot stopping but his authority in commanding his box leaves a lot to be desired (I don't think he has the biggest heart). I hope he signs but if not I will shed no tears. If he hasn't signed by the summer move him on, to real Madrid where he can be number 2 to their captain as that's what he will be in the foreseeable future.

I find myself willing Casillas to have blinders now when I laughed at his mistakes before......

My point is that I completely disagree with the bit in bold. Which is why we would have to pay about twice as much for Bale as Madrid would for De Gea. Money talks. You don't pay more for commodities that are easier to find. In football or any other market.
