@Dwazza Van Hernandez :drool:

Januzaj and Rooney's contract negotiations went on for fecking ages.
That's a good point actually, didn't Rooney have less time left on his contract before signing? I know Januzaj definitely did.

Rooney was similar. he was going into last year of his contract in the summer, and resigned around February. So that would be basically the same as where we are with De Gea right now. Januzaj was in his last year of the contract and we signed him before Christmas.

I'd say alot of this has to do with reservations about Champions League Football and whether we'll be in it next season. He's in an opportunistic position where if we don't make it and he wants to leave, United have to sell him, where as if he signs a new contract and we don't make it, United will just say no to any transfer. In affect.. fecking moyes!

If we don't get CL football next season, it has sod all to do with Moyes.
Regardless of CL next season I think he's gone anyway.

So do we not have an official record label partner yet? Sign up his missus and we can all live happily ever after.

Has he said a word on the speculation?

That story and similar ones basically started with Eduardo Inda, who used to be editor of Marca. He says that Madrid will try to buy De Gea this year, or take him for free next summer. He's undoubtedly got contacts both at Madrid and in agent circles and he'll be saying something he thinks is true.

Whether he's actually telling the truth or merely repeating a lie he's been told, or summarising gossip that's doing the rounds at the club is anybody's guess. Though that's always true when it comes to contract renegotiation and transfer rumours. I doubt if anyone is actually in the know about this apart from De Gea (maybe), Mendes and Perez.

Some people here are just insane...if the news are positive for us then source is shit,if they are negative...source is 100% legit.

And Woodwa-

 Sorry, I couldn't even finish that with a straight face. He's off somewhere finding us an Official Bubble Tea Partner.

Marca article from an actual ITK José Félix Díaz today:

Though the Old Trafford suits seem reluctant to recognise it, David de Gea is Manchester United's talisman at present.

The Spanish goalkeeper's saves win games and Real Madrid are among the clubs keeping tabs on his situation at the Theatre of Dreams, where there is a staring contest of sorts taking place over his future.

The stories suggesting that De Gea has been offered a new contract worth €8 million a season are untrue. The same goes for the reported swap deal that would take Gareth Bale to United for €65m plus De Gea.

'Los Blancos' are certainly interested in the former Atlético shotstopper - his agent is Jorge Mendes, who has close ties at the Bernabéu and has thrown the goalie's name into the hat during discussions with the club's higher-ups on several occasions - but they have never considered letting Bale leave in exchange.

Real are biding their time and watching the standoff from afar. Florentino Pérez has no intention of rocking the boat in the glove department right now, with Iker Casillas's return to his best meaning there is no longer a pressing need to sign a top keeper. Keylor Navas isn't going anywhere either.

De Gea, meanwhile, is waiting for United to blink first. He is happy in Manchester, having won over the fans, his teammates and the critics, but he wants to be appreciated - and to win trophies. That much is self-evident to all and sundry who have come into contact with him. Staying with the Red Devils remains his first choice, but the clock is ticking and Real cast a long shadow.

De Gea agent hints at Real Madrid move

The Spaniard's contract at Manchester United expires next year and Jorge Mendes, who also represents Cristiano Ronaldo and Radamel Falcao, has not ruled out a return to Spain

The agent of Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea has suggested that the Real Madrid target may not remain at Old Trafford for the entirety of his contract, remarking that "things change every five minutes".

The Spanish shot-stopper has been in sensational form for the Red Devils this season but, as revealed by Goal, he has yet to be formally offered a new contract, with his current deal due to expire in 2016.

De Gea is understandably drawing admiring glances from the likes of Madrid, who are seeking a long-term heir to the declining Iker Casillias, while United snapped up veteran Victor Valdes on a free transfer to cover the possibility of the 24-year-old leaving.

And now super-agent Jorge Mendes, who also facilitated Cristiano Ronaldo's move from Manchester to Madrid, has added further fuel to speculation that De Gea could be the latest Galactico.

"David is amazing, he's brilliant," the Portuguese agent told Marca when asked if De Gea could move to the Spanish capital.

"He's a Man United player and has a contract there. You have to respect that but things change every five minutes."

United boss Louis van Gaal, though, has previously insisted that De Gea would extend his current deal at Old Trafford after cementing his place as the club’s No.1 goalkeeper.

Asked if he expected the keeper to agree an extension earlier in January, he replied: "I think so, yes. I think there is no problem for him to sign.

"When you are a [regular] player, then probably you are the best and then the manager is very happy that a player that is fixed in the line-up will stay."

Tensions between United and the Mendes camp are thought to be strained, though, with another of his clients, Radamel Falcao, having struggled for game time since joining the club on loan from Monaco - Mendes believes that he would be a certain starter at any other club in the world.

Like I said, I personally think he will sign one more contract, however then in 2-3 years he will be off to Madrid when they come calling again :(

When did De Gea say that, the five minutes thing?

Not too bothered about this, if he as claimed wants to win lots of trophies then it's clear we are making the right moves to enable this to happen, and tbf he already has premiership medal to his name, so no issues there, if he want loads of money he'll get it, so again no issues there.

So it all comes down to whether he himself is happy at the club, if not and he is pining for Madrid then it is best he goes, and for once we would actually make a decent profit on a player, and have fair shot at Bale.

If United lose DDG on the cheap then they are complete fools...it's hard to gain any real attachment to the modern players but DDG has the makings of a club hero.

Lets be honest, at this current moment in time, Manchester United is nowhere near the level of Madrid. What can we offer that they can't beat/match? Going to be gutted if he leaves, but I'm not sure there is anything we can do to stop the move if David himself wants to go.

He'll sign for us, it's standard posturing.

We have to offer a fair bit more money, it's that simple.

If he still wants to go after that then there's not much we can do except get the best possible price for him.

I heard LVG state in a presser that he was confident that DDG would Re-sign...IMO he will re-sign
