The day Ronaldo left was a dark day. It took me a week to actually believe it. I didnt log on to the cafe for a while...
There will be riots especially after Woodward claiming that supposedly we will have squad to challenge in all four competitions. All this without Big Dave sounds a bit like typical PR bullshit.

Except preventing this situation from ever happening by signing him to an extension 18 months ago. If he still wanted to leave, we would at least get fair value for him.

To be fair they can't force a player to sign and that seems to be lost on people. 18 months ago, he still had two and a half years on his contract left and I doubt he was in the right frame of mind to sign an extension back then either.

What riots? There will be no riots.
If DDG leaves we'll get a replacement. What do you expect, us going into season without a keeper?

Just read the comments from Van Gaal and I think this is it for me I have stayed positive about him signing a new contract but after reading those comments I truly believe he is off. Once again we find a real world class player and once again he is off to Madrid when he is about to hit his prime. :(

To be honest if he doesn't sign a new contract so we can get a good transfer fee, I will be very disappointed in him.
Yep. I'm not saying I can accept him leaving but I can understand. What would really piss me off is if he goes for some ridiculous fee like £25m cause of his contract.

That shows how people in Manchester are not willing to stand up for their opinions about what happens with the roster/first team. If Real Madrid's best player was sold tomorrow, there would be riots all over the city in the neighborhoods that are predominantly pro-Real.

Think it's time De Gea spoke out about it tbh. Should he decide to go, Sunday will be his last appearance in a Utd shirt at Old Trafford and he deserves a proper send off, regardless of this situation.

Ronaldo said 'I stay' right after the Champions League final. People paid an arm and a leg to go to Rome and he couldn't even give them a proper good bye. I kind of never forgave him for that.

Its a dog eat dog world. If De Gea/Ronaldo were shit, we would spit them out without thinking.

£25m? We will be lucky if we get £15m with 1 year left on his deal. We have to accept what they give us else he can leave for free with a pre contract signed next January and that will be much worse.

Riots cause a player left? Did that ever happen anywhere?
And what good would that bring anyway?
What can club do? Lock him in a room with bread and water until he signs?

De Gea leaving for Madrid means feck all. It certainly doesn't make us Madrid's feeder club, that's a ludicrous thing to say. For all we know the reason could be his girlfriend wanting to sunbathe her ass on the Madrid streets (and it's probably true).

Ronaldo and possibly De Gea leaving for Madrid are the exceptions, not the rule. It's just unfortunate that it's happening for the second time in 6 years.

We're up there with Bayern, Barcelona and Real Madrid in terms of stature. People should accept the fact that sometimes key players will leave us for Madrid (Ronaldo, De Gea) and sometimes key players will leave Madrid for us (Di Maria and possibly Bale).

That's a great way of looking at it.

A cynic might say that the only two players they would have been interested in getting from us the last six years is those two.

They might also say that Di Maria and Bale (if it happens) left because they showed them the door, whereas we begged for our two to stay.

Bottom line is Real have consistently been the biggest payers in the world for twenty years. Buying the absolute top players in the world, consistently for twenty years will make you glamorous and appealing. If we steal that crown of being the biggest payday, in time players will choose us over them.

The last couple of press conferences have had LVG pretty much resigning to the fact that DDG won't stay. I think most of us knew that he would leave someday but I genuinely didn't believe till a couple of months back that it would be this summer. What I have been pretty certain about though that unlike what a lot of people here suggested there was no way we were going to force him to see out his contract. The only way he could stay now is if Iker decides to stay at Real

I was one of those people that went to Rome. I was never once under the impression he was staying, Moscow was a very different story however - though that's derailing this topic.

2nd point is very true but we're Manchester United - our fans show respect to our favourite players and continue to do so after they're gone too. De Gea deserves that respect.

No, not in a situation like that

That only works when a player is being released or retiring.

If/when he leaves it's a case of feck him, no send off

So far, the player has said nothing nor has his agent. Wait until the season actually ends and see where we are then. Marca will print any old shite so I don't buy their line too much. Don't write him off just yet.

This.

And a player who wont sing a contract so we can at least get a nice fee too.

Why should he get a respect. Let him have it from those nice Madrid fans.

De Gea is as sure as gone, and at this point I'm struggling to care a whole lot. He's been unprofessional in this whole ordeal, especially if he just lets his contract run out (which is looking all the more likely).

Shows a lot of lack of of respect on his end towards a club that did a lot of work to make him into the player he is today and also stick by him when things weren't going his way at the beginning.

I fully trust van Gaal to find a more than adequate replacement.

Well you could end up disappointed then.
Therefore forum rage and riots in a 'Freedom or fire' vibe.

All jokes aside but not gonna accept dumbfeckery from our officials anymore. We had enough of it during Moysey.

This defense was addicted to the man's genius and now we can't have even that ? One of the few world class players left in the squad is a sign of regress. I'll believe in progress when I'll actually see it.

What can our officials do exactly regarding DDG?

Can't believe we are talking about giving him a send off, if it was upto me he won't play the last two games

Just changed my vote to "no". Honestly thought the delay was down to securing Champions League football but these quotes from Van Gaal are signalling the end.

Cech in on a cheap deal I hope. Still one of the best keepers in the league

That's right. We have to start taking that glamour effect back and pay the fecking money.

A shame we can't have the British government in our pocket as much as Real has Spain's and Bayern has Germany's in their own pockets.

We missed the moment unfortunately. The prime moment to get him to extend would have been in 2013, just after winning the title. Sir Alex retiring messed that up. Its kinda like what Sterling said, If Liverpool offered him a contract this time last season he would have signed it for a lot less, they didn't and now are struggling to keep him. We should have tried to extend his contract mid 12/13, You wouldn't expect him to extend after a season like last year did you?

How has he been unprofessional? It's not like he's been doing interviews with the BBC saying he's turned down x amount is it? He's just waiting until the end of the season and then he will hopefully let us know what is happening. Focusing on the remaining games rather than getting drawn into a saga is professional if you ask me. It's frustrating we don't know any concrete facts but let's not forget he doesn't have to sign the contract.

Use the exact same tone of voice that was used to keep Franck Ribery at Bayern. If not, we always use the threat of still keeping him for the last year, then putting him on the bench, and sabotaging his chances for Euro 2016.

They say sometimes big football clubs know when to act like mafia, so it's time we act like one.

Not so sure about Bayern but that's for another thread I guess..

What voice is that.
And the 2nd thing, what good would that bring us?

Wouldn't be to bad if Casillas was part of the deal. We'd have some strength and dept in the goalkeeping dept. with him and Valdes then.
I'd be devastated if we swapped De Gea for Casillas (obviously cash would be involved too but still).

I'd want a younger keeper to come in to replace him, 26/7 max.

Still confident we'll keep him, though.

That's a depressing thought alright. Can't say it hadn't crossed my mind with all this De Gea speculation, but if we go that path of thinking we'd only get more depressed and pesimistic. The only thing that would help is United actually resisting to sell. Unfortunately, De Gea hasn't really put us in a favourable position in this whole thing (assuming he wants to leave) and it's not financially viable to keep him this summer and then lose him for free next year. We'd make a point and us fans will feel better, but deep inside we'd know that it was a stupid decision.

I can't say that I don't dread the possibility of Madrid wanting a United player. It creates a sense of inevitability that sooner or later they'll get him even if we don't want to sell. Seems like every player in the fecking world wants to play for them. Even Barcelona know how it feels with the whole Figo fiasco back in the day. I'm sure it still hurts their ego to this very day.

I agree that Perez wanted to sell Di Maria, but I'm also sure that Ancelotti wanted him to stay. After all, he was their best player in the CL final and one of their most consistent performers throughout last season. No sane manager would want to get rid of a player in that kind of form, but we all know that the signings aren't decided by the Real Madrid manager and never will.

I don't really care if Madrid want to sell Bale or not. It's quite clear that we want him and it'd feel really good if we get him. It'd just feel like a two way street, especially if De Gea leaves.
