He's waiting to see if we qualify for champions league before he signs. Am not referring to Top $.

His contract should have been a priority already when Moyes was here. He's much more valuable to this team than Rooney. Now, I'm afraid, it may be a bit late for sorting it out. Madrid need a world class keeper. Iker's mistakes will cost them the season.

Liverpool will fail to beat Chelsea today and Big Dave will sign a new five year contract within the next week.

I can't remember when someone has left us and I became really disappointed with them going, I think it was probably RVN. With Ronaldo I wasn't really that bothered because I just couldn't deal with him crouched on the floor three times per game wailing his arms in the air or punching the ground which he did ever so often during his time with us. With Spanish Dave though I'll be gutted if he goes. Not only is he a top, top keeper but he also seems like a top bloke. Just coming up to 25 years of age, potentially another 10 seasons playing at the level he is now is something to look forward too.

I really can't see him leaving on a free transfer if he doesn't sign a deal in the next month or two, it just doesn't fit with the type of person he is. Sure he has to look out for his own career and is hopefully waiting for CL to be guaranteed but we've invested a lot of time and money in him. He has to repay that faith we showed in him by now showing us the same faith.

That save yesterday was massive. Said to a friend if we somehow win this match now it's all down to de Gea. If he leaves I'll be gutted.

Thank god we got Top 4, now DeGea will sign his contract, amirite?

LvG already said he doesn't think CL is the issue with the contract.

I hope we can close the deal now. If not, I'd rather we hold onto him next season and let him go on a free. Money isn't as big an issue as a quality replacement would be.
I'd rather we have another year to find a great replacement than we risk the outcome of next season (including the CL) for the sake of bagging 20-30m.

I seriously doubt De Gea was waiting for CL confirmation, especially given we'd still have to go through qualifiers for them

Well, Falcao cost us about £15m for a year. By comparison Dave would be pretty good value.

To make it more fair:

Rooney -150k
RvP -150k

DDG +300k

Bit off topic but I'd agree with the Rooney and RVP part. Massive contracts like the ones they have should be heavily influenced by performances and fitness.

Read a couple of months back that the issue was that De Gea wants a cheap buyout in his contract. Want him to stay at United so bad, but hate the fact that he would have a option leave for Real or Barcelona anytime he wanted.

I'll be glad when he finally reveals his intentions so we can all move on. I think he's off to Madrid.

It's a no brainer, but we definitely need to hang onto him. Not least because we all remember when it was all about Joe Hart the other season and the press was having a pop at him. Also keepers generally mature & improve with age which bodes VERY well. We just need to build a functioning team in front of him & we're laughing ...

I think he might be waiting to see who we buy in the summer and therefore whether he sees us as realistic Premier League / Champions League contenders next season, then make his decision based on that.

Ed needs to get Glengarry Ross on this situation.

Because only one thing counts in this life: Get them to sign on the line which is dotted. You hear me? A-B-C. A-Always. B-Be. C-Closing. ALWAYS BE CLOSING. A-I-D-A. Attention, Interest, Decision, Action. Attention - Do I have your attention? Interest - Are you interested? I know you are, because it's feck or walk. You close or you hit the bricks. Decision - Have you made your decision, for Christ. And Action. A-I-D-A.

I was at the Real Madrid vs. Valencia game on Saturday, Real will really push for de Gea this summer, they need him.

Mid table?Nah,the team has progressed from last year b,esides United has had very good keepers in recent years

Our point total this year assuming we win the last two matches still wouldn't be impressive. David De Gea has easily won us among the most points of any player in the team. If DDG has just won us 6 points this season(he's won us way more) then we'd have finished with 68 points which would have put us 7th like Moyes last years Premier League.

Would be great to see just how many points he has won us with breathtaking saves that a regular keeper would never do, and how many errors most goalkeepers have made which lead to point losses.

Now that we secured Cl, he needs to man the feck up and make a decision whatever that might be. If he wants to leave just say so that the club can look for a suitable replacement and maybe sign someone before the US tour.

As the days go by, I am getting less confident of him sigining a new contract. With Champions League all but secured, shouldn't he have signed by now.

Seriously, feck the madrid circus, he'll never be worshipped like Casillas because of his Atletico roots.

If he was worried about the support he would have already renewed his contract.Besides once he is the first option in national team everyone will be happy. The circus is fine,James,Kroos,Modric...a good band of clowns :)

Did you like Madrid, mate?
Loved it man, great city and a truly massive club. It's pure Hollywood luxury, Real Madrid are the biggest club in the world.

Bale isn't good enough for you though! And I'd be wary of United interest too to be honest.
