Netherland's 5-3-2 approach is too conservative. Especially with a destroyer type player in De Jong in midfield.
You never, ever see a fighter in either MMA or boxing drop to the floor, clearly out like Macherano was and carry on. The ref stops it or the other fighter finishes them off.

It's clear RvP isn't at his best but he hasn't much runners/support. The dutch team is basically setup to allow Robben and van Persie to run in behind, nobody else is moving beyond the two forwards.
