David Villa | Monday 'defining day' for Spurs: Villa signs for Atletico Madrid

have wanted Villa at our club for a few years. him and Rooney would form a truly LETHAL partner i've always thought.

they think alike, which is what's always been missing in Rooney's attempted strike partners.

Villa, Valencia and Ribery would be the signings i'd be really happy with.

-------------------VDS-----------------
Raphael-----Vidic--------Rio--------Evra
Ribery------Carrick-----Fletcher---Valencia
-----------Rooney------Villa--------------

yes please!

Real madrid value him at 30 mil max we want him for 15 mil more....I hate madrid but if rumors r true we are inflating villas price by 15 mil

City wanted him till they were quoted 100 million and Chelsea have supposedly bid for him somewhere around £40 million - but were told Madrid were in advanced talks with him. But now Madrid are trying to lowball Valencia - due to the fact Villa is Spanish and not seen as a "galactico" so they'll try and get him cheap, saving funds for Ribery, etc - its opened the door for other clubs.

Forty-five million pounds, 53 million euros: this is the figure that the Manchester United put on a plate for David Villa to snatch Valencia beating competition from Real Madrid and Barcelona, at this point, I am ready to give battle to Zlatan Ibrahimović, intended to leave l 'Inter although in Sweden, as reported by the newspaper Aftonbladet, it states that the player has purchased the house outside Milan.

The figure that Manchester is ready to pay in the coffers of the Villa of Valencia make the most paid player in the history of the Premier League.
With him, Alex Ferguson was at home for the player to replace Tevez, ever closer to the City.
To replace Cristiano Ronaldo, however, Sir Alex believes blindly in Antonio Valencia outer end of the Ecuadorian Wigan who come to Old Trafford for 17 million pounds.

Ibrahimovic in the future, therefore, is increasingly Liga.
An official of the Swedish, Mino Raiola, is pursuing two parallel negotiations: one with the president of Real, Florentino Perez, and with a number of Barça, Joan Laporta.
The hypothesis merengue is currently the most feasible given that the possible arrival of Ibra in blaugrana would Laporta to review the salary cap "imposed" to the rest of the rose.

That would be funny, but I doubt David Gill is gonna waste his time putting in bids like that, we don't seem that vindictive a club. Obviously if Kenyon was still in charge then maybe:lol:

Doesn't take two minutes to tell a secretary to send a fax to an 0034 number..........

Well if the bid is accepted Dans Gill would have to stick by it. That`s why you don`t give false bids.

If a bid is accepted then you have a deal.

a dewal with the club, yeah, you then have to negotiate with the player. At which point you could pull out.

Seriously,a deal isn't set in stone just because a bid is accepted. Plenty of transfers have fallen apart after bids were accepted. Personal terms, medicals, player not liking the area, manager not liking the attitude of a player etc - many reasons.

Regardless, if United are bidding, they want him. No chance in hell United would screw around with 'fake' bids, the reputation of the club would be massively damaged.

Couldn't you then offer the player ten pound a week, and the deal is off, couldn't agree terms?

Obviously, but that is another contract all together. In principle the contract with Valencia would be in place.

And in addition to the reputation aspect of screwing around with bids you also have the possibility of having to pay compensation if it could be proved that you were bidding just for fun.

A professional business just woulnd`t do it.

We wouldn't have to bid for fun. Simply spreading the rumors is enough, the agents will do the rest.

And even if it does get accepted then let's take him. He's worth every pence.

I'm pretty sure that's not true

Well as far as I know from contract law as soon as a bid is accepted the the main rule is that a deal is in place. Obviously you still need to negotiate with the player and that might fall through.

There could also be clauses in a bid, that say that you have the right to pull out. Don`t know if such clauses are normal in player sales, but it would surprise me.

Nah. Until something of value passes between the parties, there is no enforceable contract[offer-acceptance-consideration]. You can sue for a variety of lofty legal remedies if someone pulls out before it is concluded, but there's no guarantee of success, and until finalised, it's just an intention to contract.

Perhaps english contract law is different from Norwegian then.

What I know is that when the main parts of a deal are established - price, good to be sold, time of contract etc. then a binding contract is in place.

So now according to Marca, who a few days ago said that a bid had been accepted by Madrid, Barcelona are Villa's most likely destination with a 50 million euro bid they are preparing and Madrid will instead turn to Forlan who has a 26 million buyout clause in his contract.

No doubt tomorrow they'll say Liverpool or Chelsea are signing him instead. But this is Marca's story for today.

It is very different.

I.e. when you bd for a house in Norway, you are legally obliged to go through with the purchase. Not in the UK.

Yeah.

But Norwegian law is similar to continental law, so who says that footballing transfers are done after English contract law?

Any transfer is dependent on the player accepting the contract offered to him by the bidding club. Even if we were obliged to pay the full amount, we could simply say to the player "We will pay you £1 per annum on a 20 year contract" knowing he would reject.

See thread.

Is he better than Torres? I've always felt he's possibly better at Torres only at goalscoring. And even at that, Torres is better in the league than outside. Doesn't seem to be explosive like the other best strikers in the world.

Or they want to buy 50 kilos of David Villa. That'd be, like 70% of him?

Presumably the other 30% would still be on the market, and remain on David Villa

Or maybe we can buy David Villa's head for 10m, Drogba for 25m, and then put Villa's head on Drogba's body. Would be unstoppable

:lol::lol: wtf

The exact opposite. Torres may be better than him at scoring in the premier league - we'll have to see. But Villa has more to his game than pace and scoring goals, which isnt so true for Torres.

That makes sense to me, but the thing I can't wrap my head around is Barcelona's angle here.

What do they plan on doing with the 50 kilos, or 70%, of David Villa. Would it be illegal for them to use the head of Messi as well as one of his legs to add on to the existing David Villa?

I hope so, otherwise that will be a truly formidable opponent/monster.
