David Villa | Monday 'defining day' for Spurs: Villa signs for Atletico Madrid

when someone says that he doesnt like the 'direct game' of england and would prefer a move to spain or italy rather than england , it is pretty clear to me where the premier league is on his list of preferred destinations
of course i think he would prefer england to playing in the french league forever .. but would it be a move he would be happy with or look to move on in a year or two

now those quotes are a year old , one of them is from marca and i have no idea about anything benzema
times change . his thinking might too..

who knows future .. only god knows .. wait and see .. i stay

He said he could play in England (on TV) too one day and at the end of the day there is nothing we can be certain of but it's a possibility.

To be honest, I'm surprised Villa doesn't want to leave Spain. Seeing as how he doesn't want to leave Valencia. If he stays he'll have to play against them, something I'd have thought he'd want to avoid.

He's not a Valenciano, so I am sure this wouldn't pose too much of a problem for him.

Manchester United To Break British Transfer Record For David Villa

Manchester United To Break British Transfer Record For Valencia's David Villa

The Red Devils are ready to compete with Barcelona and Real Madrid for the Spanish international by making a €52.8 million offer...

Manchester United are ready to smash the current British record for a transfer fee in order to land Valencia striker David Villa, according to British tabloid The Daily Mirror.

Apparently, the Red Devils are willing to offer €52.8 million (£45m) in exchange for the prolific goalscorer's services.

It was thought that 'El Guaje' (The Kid) was on his way to Real Madrid, seemingly ruling fellow Premier League giants Chelsea out of the race for his signature.

However, the Spanish press reported on Sunday that Los Che want €30 million plus Alvaro Negredo, while Los Blancos are only content to bid €25m plus the former Spain Under-21 forward.

Since then, Barcelona have claimed that they are in discussions to take the 5ft 9in striker to the Nou Camp this summer.

However, it is said that Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson is confident of snapping-up the 45-time capped Spain international, who has scored 29 goals for La Furia Roja.

The record fee for a player joining a British club at present is Robinho's €38.2m (£32.5m) switch from Real Madrid to Manchester City in September 2008.

I thought Villa said he'd never play in England against his best mate Torres /gaytard smilie/

He wants to stay in Spain, by all accounts. It's an awful lot of money to pay for a 27 year old, who, by the time we might want rid, will have little or no sell on value.

Not the way to spunk the better half of our war-chest, IMO, though I think he's a cracking player.

I'd definitely go for the cheaper option of Eto'o if given the choice.

We will end up with Fletcher playing in the middle full time and a second rate world class forward like Peter Crouch...:(:(:(

goal.com....

nuff said.

They are just churning out the same story as the telegraph were this morning. Just another wild stab in the dark.

Yesterday is was Torres, David Silva, Victor Valdes.

They day before it was Eto’o and Valencia.

Tmrw it will be Pele and Cruyff.

Fletcher proved he's up to the job last season.

And no, no we won't.

Well, Villa is a player who has always felt a loyalty to his club sides but has always moved on when he's needed to, to further his career and become a better player. He was Sporting Gijon's top scorer and considered their second best ever player when he was there. But they were relegated into Segunda division and the club needed to sell him to stay afloat financially. Thats when he moved to Zaragoza, but Gijon was still in his heart. To this day he still has sporting gijon embroided into his boots and when it came to scoring a penalty against them this season for Valencia, he visibly cried with his muted celebration. Didnt stop him scoring but it clearly meant something horrible to him as Gijon were once again looking at relegation, thanks in part to that penalty. But Valencia needed every point too. And luckily for Villa, Gijon saved themselves.

This should all prove evidence enough that while Villa is more loyal to his clubs than most, he has before and he will again move on if he feels its the right thing to do or the club need the money and he will play and score against his former clubs even if he does so with a heavy heart.

You could write a very sound biography for David Villa.

Didn't Villa say something about wanting to play for United in a final or against them in a final. I cant find the thread but it was something weird.

That is most probably the gayest post I have ever seen on the CAF.

More gay even than Spoony's post admitting to be a bender.

Probably. But he'll most likely be in Madrid next season and then I doubt I'd want to ;)

Also, cant see this transfer going through. As has been mentioned, we've been linked with a bunch of players based in spain recently and pretty much all of them seem like aimless guesswork. I'd love it if we signed him, but unless something concrete happens I'll take this all with a pinch of salt. Afterall, if he was really a player we were looking at surely we'd have been involved with him last summer. We werent. Supposedly we had a bid rejected for Silva, but Villa? Nope. Nothing. Even though we were clearly looking for and bought an expensive striker. Says to me that its very well known that David Villa wont be leaving La Liga.

Sour grapes on the part of Ferguson after losing Ronaldo?
