David Villa | Monday 'defining day' for Spurs: Villa signs for Atletico Madrid

Spanish press is more than sure about Villa in Madrid.

We should hear confirmation in three days time.

Greasy bastards.

I fecking hope not.

That's silly money.

15 mill for Eto'o and that's about it.

15 million would pay Eto's wages for just over 1 season. He's asking for 11 million a year apparently. Thats why there's no new deal with Barcelona. City will pay it though.

SSN reporting that Barca have held talks with Villa. I'd rather he joined them than Madrid, tbqfh.

id rather he joined the circus that is madrid and become less effective than a football side like barcelona.

i'd rather see us not sign anyone in this market than overpay for players ..

valencia is OK .. just about ..
15m+ addons , if it is that . is ok.. he has some resale value if it doesnt work out

feck ribery for 50+m , feck villa for 45m

A person who doesn't want to come to United and dreams of Spain.

Fantastic.

Nope. The best young forward in Europe, who has said he loves English football, and watches and especially loves the 'Red Devils' but his 'first choice' is Spain. What's wrong with that? You think Torres is gonna stay at the dippers his whole career? Did Henry stay with the Arse?

So what if he is only here 4 or 5 years like Ronnie? We'll get a tonne of goals from him, a huge profit, and hopefully continue to keep young hungry squad and win trophies.

Just like you said... Fantastic.

If Eto'o is available for around 20million as some of the papers suggest, I would prefer to go for him rather than Villa at 45million.

However, even if we do bid 45million for Villa, I honestly can't see him picking us over either Barcelona or Real Madrid.

Valencia is not worth 15m as much as Villa is not worth 45 and Berbatov 30.

A tonne of goals? Well that is a dream!

PS when has he said that he loves the Red Devils? He could mean the Rugby League side

in an ideal world.. of course he is not
but even when players like bent and bentley were being sold for 16-17m , there werent any 50+m deals .

there is a threshold beyond which it gets silly
15m isnt it .. overpaying .. maybe .. he is very young and there might not be other players available who can slot right into the first team and cost less at the same time

tv money has gone up, sponsorship deals are worth more , the transfer fee will increase ..

but noone is worth 50m .. atleast not unless you are freakishly good .. which neither ribery or villa are

and yes we overpaid for berbatov .. by about 10m .. no need to make the same mistake again by overpaying for a player by 20m

That's the point, you must either overpay or else you'll end up not getting anyone.

but by how much

when you negotiate , you have to draw the line somewhere

right, i said i'd rather see us not sign anyone than overpay .. change it to
i'd rather see us not sign anyone than pay silly money ..

the british transfer record is 32.5m , the most we paid is 30.75m..
it would be stupid to go from that to 50m or anything like it

there is no way we should spend anywhere close to the entire 80m in the summer .. we dont need too many players and i dont want us to waste 80m on 2-3 players
messi wont come .. thats that .. noone else is worth over 50m

:wenger: Amazing how some convince themselves of false things

But he has been quoted as saying he would prefer to play in Spain, just as Villa has been quoted saying he wants to stay in Spain.

We won't get either of these players and I hope to feck we don't get Eto.

"In recent months my name has been linked to Barcelona, Real Madrid, Juventus and now Manchester United have appeared.

"That is high praise and I'm sure I'd be able to play in England. But I believe my style is perhaps better suited for Spain or Italy. I want to experience new tactics and systems. I don't want to play that direct game all the time.

Benzema, 20, told Spanish newspaper Marca that a move to Madrid is something that would interest him in the future. He said: "I like Real Madrid, but I think that I'm still too young to sign for a club like that. I think that I need to get more experience and I'd like to help Lyon be a European champion. Then, in the future, we'll see what happens."

not really a "i hate united"
but a clear i prefer spain and madrid

As for paying silly money - why not? If we don't spend it now it may not be available next year.

What's worse getting a slightly better then average player for 17m when his actual price is 7m or getting Benzema for 45m when his actual price is 30m?

In my opinion it depends on loads of factors

a) Age
b) Potential
c) financial value (how many shirts he will sell etc)
d) importance in the team.
e) nationality (Id rather see us sign a local lad then someone who will wet himself whenever Real Madrid is mentioned).

To conclude Id rather see us spend 45m on a 21 year old with great chances of becoming world class rather then 17m on a slightly better then average winger. On the other hand Id rather see us spend 17m on a slightly better then average winger rather then 50m on a 28 year old world class striker.

my original post was about ribery and the reported 63m bid and villa at 45m

benzema .. i havent seen enough of .dont get the french league here . i have no idea

i was really excited when we signed an 18 year old rooney for 27m (fergie said it was 23+addons)

5 years on and the euro getting stronger .. i can see how another top talent might cost around 40m .. but is he that good ?

i dont think villa and ribery are worth silly money.. have no idea about benzema

That's my point, how do you go from "I prefer to play in Spain" to "I don't wanna play in England" ?
Besides he praised the PL and United too before, not that it means anything special but clearly not a sign of negation from him
It's as if some caftards will never want to have players who don't put United as their unique goal in life. It' s just not gonna happen every time

I've used your argument to pinpoint what I believe. That doesn't mean that Im against what you have said.

when someone says that he doesnt like the 'direct game' of england and would prefer a move to spain or italy rather than england , it is pretty clear to me where the premier league is on his list of preferred destinations
of course i think he would prefer england to playing in the french league forever .. but would it be a move he would be happy with or look to move on in a year or two

now those quotes are a year old , one of them is from marca and i have no idea about anything benzema
times change . his thinking might too..

who knows future .. only god knows .. wait and see .. i stay

where will it disappear ?

The banks to whom interest payments are due perhaps? The point being that if we have it and have the green light to spend it, then perhaps we should as who knows what that money might be required for in a year's time.

To be honest, I'm surprised Villa doesn't want to leave Spain. Seeing as how he doesn't want to leave Valencia. If he stays he'll have to play against them, something I'd have thought he'd want to avoid.
