David Villa | Monday 'defining day' for Spurs: Villa signs for Atletico Madrid

i bet even guardiola was rolling down the pitch

Terrible news really... hope he recovers well and in time for next years Euro's.

He'll be a massive loss to Spain if he's not back... Llorente, Soldado and (current form) Torres are all good/great... but not in Villa's league I would say.

Bad news for Villa, shame.

About time Barca had to cope with some injuries though, they magically never get any yet barely change team.

They rarely get any long-term injuries. The club did have a spate of hamstring pulls earlier in the season, probably a result of too much travelling and fecking about in pre-season.

I'm sure it must be something to do with living in Spain. It must make you healthier in general.

That's how one usually reacts when one knows there is a serious injury - refs in every other Barca-game, take note.

Anyone with a broken leg or another serious injury won't ever roll around the pitch 20 times, Pedro/Busquets/Alves-style.

^ the same could be applied with many other teams tbh

Of course.

Barca are amongst the worst though. Systemathic stuff. Other teams usually have one or two, I've seen Barca deploy it as an evident tactic. (Roll around without contact, the rest of the team immediately swarms the ref demanding a red card - what happened against Real in the CL last season, time and time again)

Feel horrible for Villa. One of my favourite non United players. It's hard to see him getting fit for the Euros :(

It's not been a good season for Villa, shame as he's been one of my favourite strikers of the last ten years. I wonder if Barca will try to take Torres on loan.

Firstly best of luck to him, he's a top pro and the Euros will be at a loss if he doesn't make it.

Secondly:

They're saying he's out for 6 months. That would mean he returns around mid June which means he'll miss 2 games atleast? I don't see him playing at all :(

I can see Barcelona moving for Tevez in January, either on loan or in a cut price transfer.

Barca to Swansea, what a huge drop down.

Would be a hell of a signing for Swansea though. Even if it's just a loan deal.

Isn't this just another one of those "odds shortening on Ribery to Liverpool" type stories?

I wouldn't be surprised to see him leave Barca, but I'd be very surprised if Swansea could afford his wages.

He won't be short of interested parties if he's ever made available on loan.

No chance. Barcelona need his goals (he's got 5 in 6 starts plus 5 subs which is a lot from left wing). More chance of Alexis Sanchez being shipped out imo.

Chatter in Spain Barcelona are interested in Chicharito as a replacement. Perhaps its just agent talk..?

The Swansea move went from 40/1 to 8/1 which is still long enough to suggest it was a small handful of bets that shortened the odds. Since then everybody else has got in on the act - the alleged inside information - and bookies have reacted accordingly.

Seems unlikely to me. Villa's goal threat is invaluable for Barcelona on the rare occasion Messi goes off the boil.

No way he's going to Swansea IMO. First, Barcelona need him. Second, if they let him go there are many far better clubs who would love to have him..

Not even. The same rumours that have been around about Villa since he signed for Barcelona.

People dont seem to realise we're talking about Spain's best ever goalscorer and who despite his long injury is still one of Barcelona's top scorers despite limited involvement. Now I'm sure theres a small chance of a loan out in order to get him to 100% sharpness and form but it'll be to a Spanish club. Moving country and seeing if he'll adapt is a gamble not worth taking and when he was available he didnt want to leave Spain. So why would he now?

After all those reasons theres also the fact that the top teams would take him if he was available on loan, not Swansea. I mean Chelsea would be wanking themselves silly if they had the chance to get him on loan. Liverpool would be twice the team they currently are.

Then lets move on to another reason. David Villa is a left winger for Barcelona. Any replacement would almost certainly be a wide player and Hernandez isnt one. A more likely replacement would be if they are bringing Neymar over but I'll say again I think its more likely they'd get rid of Alexis Sanchez than Villa.
