Joan Laporta has revealed that Barcelona have made a bid of over €40 million for David Villa and would also like to make a move for Franck Ribery if Bayern Munich were willing to let him go.
The Blaugrana president stated that amid all the speculation surrounding the Catalan club that there had been some movement from them, but that nothing had been completed just yet.
Villa has openly admitted that he wants to go to Barcelona and now Laporta has explained that the club have approached Valencia with an official offer and are waiting for a reply.
"He's [Villa] a player we're interested in, and we made a good bid for him, closer to €40 million than €50 million," he told television programme 59 Segundos.
Barca with Villa and Ribery, feckin God spare us.
Does that mean Henry and Eto'oare goins spare?Barca with Villa and Ribery, feckin God spare us.
Manchester United have been following the situation very closely and they have told Villa`s representatives that, in the next day or so, they will make an offer for the player that will meet with the approval of both Valencia and the player. In order to satisfy Valencia, that would mean United are prepared to offer the Spanish club around €45 million, plus a salary package in the region of €8 million a year to the player.
David Villa has always insisted that he would like to remain in Spain and that he does not want to move abroad, that is, until now. However, for the second consecutive season, the player has seen his dream to move to one of the two top Spanish teams end in frustration, and it is plausible that his increasing frustration at his current situation could prompt him to abandon Spain and drive him toward the Premier League and into the hands of Manchester United.
Villa`s representatives have been told that Sir Alex Ferguson`s comments that United have ended their summer spending is nothing more than an attempt to avoid becoming distracted by a summer of speculation and is a strategy for dealing with an increasingly volatile transfer market - and that if the United manager is presented with an opportunity to sign a player of David Villa`s calibre, then he has both the resources and the desire to do so.
Funny that because I seen Villa's missus in Savill's the estate agents in Wilmslow.
Give us the ITK run down AdZz? Transfer fee?, wages?, window of time period when transfer will take place?
The Cafe is depending on you!
So now that Ballague is linking us with someone, he's suddenly worth listening to?
Good work my man! What would we (our penises) do without you?Hiya Devil, hope you're good pal.
Well, at the minute it's speculation on Ballbagues part - speculation I must say he gathered from my sources. There's lot's of rumours flying around at the minute, some of them very good if true. It's quite simple really, if we go for Villa we're also going to go for Robben - but not until we've enquired about Ribery availability again. SAF believes Ribery is reluctant to move to United simply because we don't seem as attractive as Madrid but if we aquire Villa we'll be quite simply as strong as ever.
So the actual transfer would cost upwards of £35 Million then Villa's wages would be around 145k a week, plus bonuses for trophies won. My 'Voice' at 'Camp C' believes anytime on monday between 11am and 2pm, the 'stretch'
Agent AdZz Out.

LEGEND. AU7>>>>>>>>>MO7>WR10>DB9>CR9? I think so!
Too bad he can't have the No. 7
I don't get this link, we have 3 strikers plus potentials in Obertan and Diouf. Just can't understand why they keep linking us to him unless Rooney is going out wide again.
SAF like's 4 experienced strikers in rotation. DV32.

Can't see us making any big name signings after a statement like this.Sir Alex Ferguson said:We weren't intending on signing anyone else after last week - we feel we have a full squad - but the situation accelerated to a point where other clubs started to make bids.
So we had to decide whether we acted or didn't. We decided to act and he'll be the last person we sign.
