David Villa | Monday 'defining day' for Spurs: Villa signs for Atletico Madrid

sounds like Perez is bullying the poor Valencia president

Think he's saying that Valencia's president has to ask for as much money as possible and allow as many teams as possible to make their bids and have their talks, so that Valencia get the right deal out of this. While Madrid have to try and pay as little as possible whilst still getting the player. I dont think he said it in the spirit of "Valencia's president has to sell the player to us".

Villa deal collapsed yesterday after Llorente said to sell to any team but not to Real Madrid.

:lol::lol: Well done Llorente.

Tomorrow you will have Blatter telling you you have slaves.

With the property market crashing I would've thought the price on Spanish Villas was a little lower, perhaps Solvista can inform us here?

Breaking news:

Valencia have decided not to sell Villa!

Was always a more likely option than most would have you believe. If he stays, more power to him and the club - it must mean they've worked themselves out as they have said they arent selling Silva either. It looked like at least one, possibly both of them would be sold at the start of the transfer window and now it seems neither will.

Tottenham also didn't want to sell Berbatov last summer. However, Berbatov wanted to leave London and move to Manchester, so he wasn't training properly. Spurs understood it's better to sell him than pay about £60,000 per week.

Valencia will understand, too.

Real have shot them selves at the foot paying such huge sums for Ronaldo and Kaka because now every club will demand huge fees for their players, not that I feel sorry for Real, they can rot in hell.

Villa will not do a Berbatov and is likely to be equally happy staying in Valencia.

we should throw in a bid of 35m.
Chelsea offered more money than Madrid, but Villa doesn't want to play in London. Our offer wouldn't change anything. Valencia may agree, but Villa wants to stay in Spain.

But he probably wants to win trophies and it's easier to achieve it in Madrid than Valencia.

It's finished.

Valdano said Valencia won't sell Villa.

Madrid prepare offer for another striker. I guess it's Ibrahimovic (Inter want €68).

Jorge Valdano admits Real Madrid have turned their focus elsewhere after Valencia declared their intentions not to sell David Villa.

Madrid had seemed in pole position to sign Villa with cash-strapped Valencia looking resigned to selling the prize asset, but the long-running saga took a big twist on Friday when Los Che announced they had taken the player off the market.

"The situation with Villa is 100% finished. There was a call from president to president in which they told us that Villa was not for sale," Valdano told Radio Nacional de Espana (RNE).

"We understand that we need to go for an alternative, which we are working on."

Among the players who Madrid are being linked to as possible additions up front next season are Inter Milan hitman Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Lyon's Karim Benzema and Diego Forlan, who was La Liga's leading scorer last season with Atletico Madrid.

Valdano was keeping his cards close to his chest though, saying: "Forlan, Ibrahimovic and Benzema are three greats of world football. But this does not mean Madrid are working towards signing one of them.

Xavi Hernandez believes that David Villa would be worth the same €60 million fee that Real Madrid paid for Kaka and wants to see the striker join Barcelona.

The Catalan midfielder is currently on international duty with the Valencia star while speculation rages about whether he will leave Mestalla and if he does where to.

Barcelona are said to be vying with Madrid for Villa and Xavi thinks that he would be worth a huge outlay because goals could be guaranteed and that makes him worth the millions.

"Yes, without doubt. David Villa has goals in his blood and he worth that kind of money. What I want is for him to go where he will be happy, although I would like that to be Barça," he told AS.

Asked how much he would be worth in today's market after his man-of-the-match displays in the European Championships final and the Champions League final, Xavi gave a definite answer.

"I do not have a price because Barça do not want to sell me and I do not want to go. It is my home and my club," he explained.

Barça will not be resting on their laurels and will be aiming to win six trophies next season in a season that Xavi thinks will be more exciting due to Madrid's summer spending.

"Along with [Ronaldo and Kaka] and with Barça it will be the best league in the world. It is good for all of us," he continued.

"The competition will be stronger and the fans will enjoy it more and the press too. Next season will be exciting.

"I side with Iniesta and Messi as the best, but Cristiano and Kaka are not bad either.

"We will continue to win trophies. Because we have won the treble this season, next season we have three more to go for with the Interncontinental Cup as well as the Spanish and European Super Cups.

"We will go out to win all six because if you only aim for five or less then you could up with nothing."

Gerard Pique has revealed that if he could sign anyone for Barcelona this summer it would be his Spanish team-mate David Villa.

The striker has been linked with a move away from Valencia during the transfer window but recent developments mean he could now stay at the Mestalla.

Nevertheless, in an interview with RAC-1, Pique left no doubt that Villa would be the man he would bring in if he was in charge.

"I would sign him [Villa] right now. It is clear that he has had a great season with Valencia and he would fit in perfectly at Barcelona," he declared.

Pique is currently away with Villa and the rest of the Spanish squad at the Confederations Cup but he admitted he has not spoken to 'El Guaje' about his future.

"Each person decides where they should go, so it is not a talking point and I prefer not to ask him because in cases like this many things can happen," he mused.

With regards to the rest of the moves this summer, Pique explained that "we see it along with Xavi and Puyi [Carles Puyol] on the internet, although it is slow here".

Speaking about the spending made by Real Madrid and in particular the impending deal for Cristiano Ronaldo, Pique said if they meet again, "my display will be the same as in Rome. We have to trust ourselves".

"After the year they had it was clear they had to reinforce to win titles, but we do not think there is pressure on us to sign," he said.

Finally, Pique was asked about his own future, and assured the fans that it is not away from the Camp Nou.

"I have already told my agent that I do not want to hear any offers because I am very comfortable and happy at Barca," he concluded.

Might be a bit late to get him now. But the player seem to know who they want.

Villa rules out Prem switch
Spanish hit-man has no desire to play in England

Valencia striker David Villa has ruled out the possibility of moving to England this summer.

The Spain international has become the subject of intense transfer speculation of late, with a host of clubs rumoured to be in the running to land his signature.

Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona were believed to be leading that chase, with Manchester United and Chelsea providing Premier League interest.

A switch to Real appeared to a formality at one stage, only for cash-strapped Valencia to then claim that they had no intention of selling the striker to any of his potential suitors.

That has done little to prevent rumours from circulating, though, with Villa still regarded as one of Europe's hottest properties.

The player himself is keen to see an end to the distracting episode, and has promised to make an announcement on his future shortly, but he has confirmed that whatever happens he wants to remain in his homeland.

"A week ago my future was clear, and now it's not," Villa told Cuatro.

"I've been through some tough moments, which are partly my own fault, but I decided to put it all aside and I've not thought about it in the last five days."

Villa recently claimed that he had already decided where he intended to play next season, and on that subject he added: "When I said I had taken a decision it was true, and this decision is that next season I will play in Spain because it is the league that is best for me, I will not go abroad."

Well, I guess that's it....shame really, he'd be an excellent signing, and Valencia are definitely going to sell, considering they are in negotiations with Nikola Kalinic (those who play FM know him:D)....

Well in that case they should definitely sign Marquinhos !

So, Benzema to Madrid and Villa to Barca. Everyones happy.

Manchester United are preparing a mammoth bid to land David Villa, despite the striker's insistence that he does not want to leave Spain.

According to AS, United are ready to offer €47 million for the player, a bid surely too good for Valencia to refuse. Should they accept, that would allow United to try and change Villa's mind.

Indeed, Sir Alex Ferguson has instructed the board not to spare any expense in trying to sign Villa, indicating that even higher bids could be on their way.

Having received €94m from Real Madrid for Cristiano Ronaldo, Man United are desperate to land a forward to replace both the Portuguese and Carlos Tevez.

Villa is still rumoured to be on the verge of signing for Barcelona, but they do not have the cash to match this bid. Meanwhile, United are also pursuing Karim Benzema with intent.

Does anyone else remember David Villa saying this in an interview?

“I would sign right now for a final against Manchester United. They’re the team playing the best football in Europe.

I didn't understand what he meant back then (the part that is in bold) and I dont understand it now.

In spite of the extreme unlikelihood and potential problems that would inevitably emerge with it, a strikeforce of Rooney, Benzema, Villa and Berbatov is a quite exciting prospect.

David Villa's Page Hacked By Alleged Barca Fan

Some of Barcelona's fans appear to be just a little too eager to have David Villa at Camp Nou...

An alleged Barcelona fan hacked Valencia star David Villa's personal page this afternoon.

The hacker, who called himself Nemesis, claimed to be a supporter of the Spanish champions and questioned Villa about the reason he has not signed for Barcelona already.

"For the love of God Villa, what is a player of your class waiting for to come to the best team in the world?" the hacker wrote on the player's official page.

"We are waiting for you ace :) I am a simple supporter of F.C. Barcelona, fan of Villa."

On the hacked page, you could also see Linux's official mascot, Tux, dressed in a Barcelona shirt.

Fan power.

This move to Barcelona is dragging it's feet and Madrid are now surely out of the equation.... Of all the names mentioned so far he is the one i'd have had but he's also the one i would have said we have the littlest chance of getting.

Its either Barcelona or Valencia for him I suppose.. It all balances on the Eto'o affair (Which BTW I think we could be involved with now)

However if somehow SAF can convince him to join us I would be over the moon with it.. He is the best in his category the world over.. But reality is that we have almost no chance of signing him.. He has stated on numerous occasions that he will remain in Spain..

He's bit of a nut job.

We should definitely take a look at Villa, he's one of the best strikers in the world. Plus he'd probably go for less than the other top players due to Valencia's financial situation.

Getting him would probably depend on the eto'o situation. If he were to stay at barca and they got villa as well then i wouldn't mind United getting henry.

I do not see him staying at Valencia though.

Have we signed him yet? I'm getting impatient

For times of desperation.

I don't know why, but all this transfer bollocks is really starting to annoy me. I shouldn't give a shit whether or not we sign some gimp from Spain, but for some reason I do. It's like we lose out on one (I'm aware we didn't 'lose' anything with Benzema - but it still left me a tad disappointed after reading on here last night that he was about to sign for us), so now we NEED another one to chase (even though we don't at all).

It's bollocks. The way these sagas rumble on doesn't help matters.

So what you are saying is, you want to be a transfer muppet?

I like this

Its like muppet survival instinct. Your main chance of a mate has fecked off with some alpha male, so you start to think about the next best (or most muppet-condusive) option.
