David Villa | Monday 'defining day' for Spurs: Villa signs for Atletico Madrid

feck sake

i wanted him at united

im hating madrid more and more every second

Hate instead the banks and government that fund the club. It is treated like the national team, actually no...no other club is funded for like Real Madrid. Not that I know of. It is not just the spending power in numbers, but the idea that they more or less can ignore budgets. That undermines the idea of...well, it just undermines everything the rest of world's struggles with financially.

What's worse is that they even took a big chuck of all-white turkey breast when it's already sitting nicely on OUR plate.

Uhm, meaning? We haven't yet been robbed by Real Madrid this summer. Ronaldo going there is hardly surprising, and as of yet they haven't snitched anyone we had a realistic shot at. Villa ending up here would be a complete surprise, and Riebery to a degree the same (albeit latter is more likely than the former). For the money they are paying for Ronaldo it's a shame we cannot sell them 10 Ronaldos. You can fund the world with money like that.

He's brilliant, but this isn't FIFA or Football Manager:

1. He's not going to come here cheap, and we're honestly not looking to add another top-class striker to our work force because he'd request to play every match, that's what he's been his entire career.

2. He's 27... now I don't know about you, but i'd much prefer a younger player like Benzema or Aguero, someone we can mould into a United star, than David Villa.

I'd love to see it, but it wont happen really.

I cannot understand the "young-of-agemold-into-United" thing concerning established foreign world class players. They move from club to club seeking gold and merits, many of them anyway. You rarely get for example a young and talented Portugese world class act to commit themselves to the club for the rest of their careers. If they are 17-20, fine. If they are 27 or 28 and have plenty of go left: fine too. You get like 5-7 years out of them, maximum. Either they leave for another and wealthier club, or they retire. In either case, they don't last like for example Giggs, Scholes, Neville, Fletcher and Ferdinand.

Even madrid could not offer Barca's cash + Kirkic + 1 other player deal, He's going to Barca, why risk coming to us, when he can sign for the other best team in the world, in his own country full of fellow spaniards. Definately COCK IN time.

Hes going to Liverpool according to my Pool friend.

well a collegue at work whos a Chelsea supporter told me last week that they've pretty much wrapped up Kaka, but then I said, what, didn't he just move to Madrid?

He was speechless.

Hes going to Liverpool according to my Pool friend.

I remeber him saying something like if he was ever going to England it would only be Pool. But the fat spanish waiter would have to sell either one of Alonso or Mascherano to fund this.

Good ol' Marca is reporting that Villa has said he only wants to play for Real Madrid. I would much prefer he sign for them rather than the dippers. I would be near suicidal if Liverpool managed to sign him.

Well SSN were on the line with Graham Hunter this morning and he believes that Villa as expressed a desire to move to Real Madrid, with a fee thought to be about the £40m mark.

He's usually fairly reliable too.

I'd be very surprised if he isn't lining up alongside Kaka and Ronaldo next season.

The same over here. Though I wont be surprised if it all started because some deluded twat on one of their forums had a (wet) dream about Villa..

"And then, having brought his soldiers to the brink of battle, He will enlist the man that all around want to sign. This man will come because of the goals and dreams of the Manager, this man will come to deal the final blow to the darkness that has covered the land. This man will be David Villa and he will chose to battle for Liverpool and one day, maybe this may - he will stand in front of the Kop, scarf wrapped around his arm and stand proud with his spanish brother - and they will proclaim - "TELL ME YOU NEVER DOUBTED US!"...."

I did make that up - but i bet there is something close to it on RAWK...

I tried to make it seem like it would be from there but I find it hard to get in character properly - delusion on that level is tough to get in to.

One of the lads here posted a link from RAWK a few weeks back, with a very similar piece, except that it was a lot longer. They/he must be the type who still believe in the magic little people and fairies down the end of the garden.

According to AS he s going to....

Surprise surprise....

You must have seen that quote from RAWK? It's pretty much the same.

Quotes from Perez today :

"He is an excellent player that we must fit into our project. Manuel Llorente [Valencia president] has to do what he has to do, as do I. The signing is just a matter of time," Marca quote him as saying.

"Everything is being done in a friendly and cooperative way, and we have good relations with Valencia...It is not a movie with a good and a bad side. It is a case of rival and historic clubs who are going to fight for the league title."

I wasnt aware Perez represented Liverpool.

I just don't get it. Why aren't players fighting it out to get a deal for United? It feels like we're a fackin' small club or something. Didn't we win the CL last year? Haven't we just won the championship 3 times in a row in the toughest league in European football?

It really is something when Liverpool are more likely to get big names than we are. Not that I wouldn't rather us sign some relatively unknown talent and turn him into a world-beater - but still, you're telling me Real looks like more of a winning prospect than us?

I hope this means Zidane will back off Ribery.. But you never know..

Do people here realize Ribery has played for 7 different clubs? 9 if you include his two youth clubs. Even if we do somehow manage to bend over again to deal with Bayern and get him, he'll be longing for Barca or Madrid within a year or two.

Sunny Spain, rainy Manchester. Technical flair league or physical tough league... For most latin type players its an easy choice and we arent it. Not if someone like Madrid or Barcelona are the alternative.

Ofc they are signing world class players like Kaká and Ronaldo...

Lately it seems like every player wants to play for Madrid, whats so special about them anyway?

I hope this means Zidane will back off Ribery.. But you never know..

Most likely not, since Madrid have been trying to get a money-saving deal for Villa to save money for the likes of Ribery. If Villa has made up his mind that he's going to Madrid, Valencia may need to accept a slightly less significant offer than they wanted. Leaving the money for Ribery.

I hope this means Zidane will back off Ribery.. But you never know..

Why?

I can honestly say I dont want Ribery anywhere near Old Trafford's home dressing room next season :nono:

sounds like Perez is bullying the poor Valencia president
