David Moyes Unemployed | European Champion

West Ham are 9th. Where do their fans expect them to be, based on the talent in their team?

If they don't like the way Moyes plays football, then fair enough, he won't get you playing champagne football. They can do better on that front, but I don't think they have enough talent to jump into the next tier where Villa currently are.

I mean they finished 6th and 7th only two years ago. Based on their squad and new young signings, they should not be regressing.

Pushing for top 6 each season given the size of the fanbase, stadium, location etc. Moyes has done a good job but they have the resources to push on and play better football.

Didnt he say Klopp is up there with Sir Alex? Needless to say he is dead to me now. From an underdog to an overdog and now back an underdog.

Jarrod bowen is class. West Ham are where they are because of Jarrod bowen. He has a top drawer player in his team.

If United had properly planned for Sir Alex leaving and instead of hiring a direct replacement, they’d have also hired the Sports Director, Technical Director and split the responsibilities as they plan to now.. do you think Moyes would have stood half a chance here?

He obviously failed big time with what he had, but was also failed himself by that dreadful summer window

Would have him at United.

So would I. Would have signed Watkins and Bowen straight out of the championship but our fanbase demands names like Sancho and Antony etc. hopefully we get better with this stuff under INEOS

I don't think so. After all he lacked the charisma to impose himself on the team, he had too much respect for them ("you show me how to win") to be accepted as their leader. I think no structure around him would have solved that issue. That might have softened some of the issues, but at the core he lacked the confidence to manage United.

Even now with the campaign Bowen has had, fans will still be underwhelmed with us signing him. Says it all.

My god no. He got rid of the succession plan and brought his Everton pals in and tried to bring in his Everton players and showed our players Everton videos to learn from. He’s his own problem. He’s not very good and his ego is massive.

Some guff about how we should be signing better players than them

He has 157 PL appearances, and 73 goal contributions.

what we need to do is find a Brazilian winger with 12 goal contributions for the team that won arguably the most non competitive league in europe and spend 90 million on them

Harsh on Eredivisie tbh.

There's a clear bias against British players and managers on here

Not just British. We had posters turning their noses up at Mane because he played for Southampton. "What does he know about playing for a big club" etc etc.

not really. Its PSV, Ajax and Feyenoord and then the numbers are made up by pub teams. Since the year 1956, those 3 teams have won 61 of 67 available league titles. Its a pretty dogshit league. The entire country has 4 football stadiums with a capacity over 30k.

I give you competitive thing, but that dogshit league has recently surprassed French league so its not exactly dogshit. Also dont know what the stadium part has to do with the whole thing. Smaller population compared to the likes of England, Spain, Germany and Italy, hence smaller stadiums.

What next for him? If Dyche wasn't doing well I could've imagined Moyes coming back to Everton after all these years. He'll probably wait for another PL job opening, don't see him going abroad.

And we also had posters thinking Schneiderlin would be some sort of last piece of the puzzle.

It's very easy to pick out the players who went onto become superb, and ignore all the ones who were shimmering mediocrities.

Palace or Fulham if those jobs become available in the future.

Maybe Scotland manager if Clarke steps down in next two years.

My guess is he'll be back at some point next season at an underperforming mid-table side flirting with relegation but not in any real danger of going down - Palace is a good shout, Wolves I could see as well (though both appear to have good managers in place as things stand).

If Leeds come-up then they'd be a option as well - can't see Farke lasting the season, though Moyes probably isn't the man for a genuine relegation scrap but the name of the club could interest him.

I doubt he'll be out-of-work that long anything.

Yes very true.

I don't get it, he's been performing about as you would expect, 45% odd win rate and even won the conference league. Nothing about Lopetegui suggest he'll be any better.

No thanks. Just don't think it would end well. If Dyche fails we should go in a different direction.

Thought the same thing, they have always floated around 10th-12th place, they’re just a bang average side, won’t get relegated but probably won’t break into Europa either.

Struggling to get my head around this.

West Ham are never ever going to be a top club without a serious Man City-esque investment of capital. That is the basic reality that everyone outside of their demented fanbase can see.

Even despite this run they've been on (in which they got a respectable draw vs Liverpool) they're in the top half of the table, sitting 9th, which is probably where you'd expect them to be. Yes, it does look like they're going to miss out on a European place, but they're six points off a club that has spent 100s of millions.

It's incomprehensible that they're severing ties with a manager who barely 12 months ago won them a European trophy. Why on earth would they do that? The new manager is going to encounter the same problems that Moyes had, namely a lack of funding. What West Ham need is a change of ownership, not a new coach with a fancy name.

Towards the end of season, players get tired and it's harder to arrest a slump in form. It's no reason to sack David Moyes who's won you something and helped the likes of Jarrod Bowen develop into good players.

This is up there with Birmingham City sacking John Eustace as one of the most insane sackings of the season.

When clubs have nothing to play for at the end of the season, a slump in form does tend to happen. It's no reason to sack a successful manager.
Theyre bored of his football, it happens every time with Moyes and that group of old British managers he’s part of

Would be a good move for them. Not so much him.

They have the type of team that he usually excels with. Gritty midfield and defence, a hard working forward and pacy wingers.

I don't see any top half sides taking a punt anytime soon on him so Forest would be a good move for him to solidify them as a PL and mid table side.

Technically they're not sacking him, his contract is expiring. Same thing that happened last time he left West Ham.
