Bobback
And how would you possibly know that? No, he sold him because he fancied Cahill and JT as a partnership (which was justified as they were the best CB partnership in the league that season) and because PSG offered a ridiculous amount that we couldn't possibly turn down.
What you said didn't really need addressing did it? That we've left it late is a statement of fact. I was just pointing out that we didn't simply "let him go", we sold him for a world record fee.
What do you mean? That's exactly what happened. And how would you possibly know that?
Horrible.Courtious
Cahill - Terry - Luiz
Azpi - Kante - Matic - Alonso
Willian - Costa - Hazard
At a guess
Oh and lest we forget, he also does things like this..
And how would you possibly know that?
How so? Think we'll have a squad good enough to make the top 4 which is the only real aim this season amongst realistic Chelsea fans. No one thinks we're winning the title.Horrible.
Yeah, I can imagine how gutting it would be to lose him. Some of my personal favourite moments in football have come from Luiz, from the comforting of Rodriguez after Columbia got knocked out of the world cup to the drunk interview after the CL final (I think) he seems a top bloke. If he can get past those lapses in concentration he'll do very well as he's proven he can do. Would love him at United just for his personality. With Luiz you either laugh or have a mental breakdown. He very quickly became one of the fans favourite players ever though more for his personality than anything strictly football related. He's genuinely lovely, silly, frustrating and wonderful all at the same time. He'll give the team absolutely everything, and have his heart on his sleeve the whole time. I wanted him as our captain after JT, regardless of his occasionally inexplicable lapses of concentration. Despite the money we got for him, I was genuinely gutted when we sold him.
If they'd field these players in this formation, I think they'd have switched Matic and Kantes positions.Still don't think we'll go for a back 3.
My guess is: 4-3-3
It'll be funny to see him and Costa outcunt each other.
Never rated him. Ball playing centerbacks are great, but their ball playing ability is a plus. Being able to actually defend is probably a prerequisite. He also seems like the least conte centerback ive ever seen.
Ah, so you agree that.... 'this is a deal reflective of Chelsea's increasing urgency for a defensive signing.'
And that, 'Chelsea have been searching for centre backs all summer, only to find themselves re-signing a player they let go, with only a few hours left.'
So, but for circumstance (no time, offers rejected, lack of options etc), Luiz would not be returning.
Never understood why English fans seem to think this guy is rubbish and yet rave on about the likes of Stones, Smalling, etc.
I'll agree that we've left it late, I'll agree that if we signed someone else, we would not be signing Luiz. Just because he's not the first choice, does not mean he's a bad choice.
But for circumstances, every transfer ever might not have happened.
If you said to me a couple of months ago we'd end up with the transfers in we have (if Luiz does sign), I'd have bitten your hand off. Would I prefer to have signed Bonucci than Luiz? Sure but you don't always get what you want.

£50m
PSG basically handing Chelsea the money to buy a couple of world class players in exchange for a player Mourinho hardly rates. If this happens Jose will be laughing himself to sleep all summer.
It's the Daily Mail, though so pinch of salt.
He's a very good footballer, just a terrible defender. May not matter much in France, though.
We did. Jose did.
We did. Jose did.
Jose wanted to stay at Chelsea but he couldn't do that so had to settle elsewhere.

The key word there was 'always'. I seem to remember a few windows where there was a gaping space where your new midfield should have been.
Is Luiz a fan favourite again?
That specific team he posted is horrible. 7 primarily defensive minded players, with Willian, Costa and Hazard left to do the damage. How so? He was always very popular with the fans. Loud-mouthed extroverts like him always go down well with home fans but rub oppo fans the wrong way.
I know, I couldn't help myself. We're just revelling in the fact that we have no business to do today.
You didn't seem to think that a few years ago in the thread when he was sold.
