I don't know who the bigger mugs are.

PSG for selling at a massive loss after just a couple of seasons or Chelsea for buying back a notoriously unreliable defender after managing to feck him off for a record fee?

Massive loss? They signed him for 40 Million pounds and selling him for 30-35 Million pounds. Not much of a loss.

Would you be happy to get him back?

My first choice would be to promote one of our youngsters to compete with Zouma, Terry and Cahill but that's seemingly not going to happen.

We're short in that position, he knows the club and is very well liked by the players who were there when he was. I'd rather Luiz than take a chance on some random big money signing who has never played in the Prem before.

He might make a monumental brain fart every 20 games but for the other 19, he's great.

Horrible defender that should stay away from big leagues, pleased he's going to Chelsea.
Yes other defenders sometimes make mistakes but the great ones make them less often, he is always going to give you a chance. They'd be better off with wes morgan

He was the worst player on the pitch against Monaco two days ago and was awarded a 2/10 rating by l'equipe. What a disastrous signing

On his day he can be the best defender you've ever seen. Unfortunately he can also be the worst. He keeps life exciting, and he's also brilliant fun. :D

I've never seen anything to suggest he's the best defender I've ever seen

Technically, theyve got him back and made £20m.

Think he has the ideal manager now to bring him to a higher level of CB

Flogging him for £50m was easily in the top 3 best sales ever in football.

Now they get him back for £32m ffs

This is ridiculous, Chelsea should be alarmed that PSG are willing to sell him back for nearly half the price they spent on him. :wenger:

I'm fairly certain it was £50 million.

They signed him for £50m.
Apparently it was the English media who inflated the fee and reported £50m. In reality, I remember reading more reliable sources say it was around £40m.

Anyways, I wonder who he replaces in the first XI? No way we spend £30m on a 29 year old to sit on the bench. Will JT be an undisputed starter all season again, I wonder. Cahill and Luiz would be a "close your eyes and pray" partnership.

Would give Conte the option to play 3 at the back.

You haven't watched that much David Luiz then. When he concentrates (which is far less often than a normal human would) he is composed, has amazing passing range, outstanding tackling and is just generally class personified. Oh and then occasionally he'll run up field and belt in a goal from 40 yards just for kicks. The reason PSG paid so much for him is that Good David Luiz is someone every team in the world would want. If they could just find a way to get rid of Bad David Luiz.

We don't need the money, Conte thinks that we do need the player.

You don't need this player. You need a defender. An actual defender.

Given the number of defenders Chelsea have been linked with, Luiz would appear to be the man at the bottom of the shortlist. If he was even on it to begin with.

I dont think so the fee was widely reported as a world record (for a CB) £50m fee.
I couldnt believe that PSG paid £50m for Luiz, that is a Carroll-esque level of madness.

Yes, and good Nani was up there with Ronaldo. And good Balotelli was as good as any striker. But there's no point buying a Porsche if it breaks down 4/10 times.

They are desperate. Garay and Abdennour were the last 2 defenders linked. They cant get better quality in so late.

He really doesn't feck up as much as people think he does, but when he does its usually really dramatic and memorable.

That's your opinion. It seems Conte might not agree.

The idea that he's not a good defender is hilarious, we won the fecking Champions League with this guy in our defense!

I'd imagine there'll be a fair bit of swapping around, but JT-Luiz isn't a bad match, so JT can give him a kick up the arse when his mind goes walkabout.

Buying old players back is a pathetic idea, nobody should ever do it. Once a player has left the club he shouldn't come back, it's for the best.

kidding

Still don't think we'd have the personnel to play with 3 at the back. Who would the 3 be? What would happen to Azpi?

Losing £15m after 2 years isn't really a massive loss. His value was going to go down due to age and 2 years less on contract

He really isn't.

Bizarre move - if you were going to go for anyone it should have been Mustafi

Luiz / Zouma / Terry would be a pretty decent 3. Azpi can play wing back, but his output will be a bit low maybe.

I think it might actually really suit him, he's pretty good going forward when he's actually allowed off the leash.

And Cahill, but he's shite I've heard.
