David De Gea

I always thought anyone who played for AM hate Real and vice versa, has anyone ever moved between the clubs before ?
DDG is in a bit of a different boat, he wasn't really treated in the best way by atletico, we weren't the only club that atletico tried to sell ddg to, we just were the one who signed him. They tried to offload ddg to other clubs a few times before his eventual sale, can't see ddg loving that nor can one expect much loyalty towards a club that does that to you.

Thanks for the info BC, hopefully he stays though.

Raul came through the youth setup at AM and ended up playing for RM. They do happen. Torres is the only one with the undying patriotism towards AM

This DDG saga keeps going on and on every season. He should just sign an extension or just part ways with us already. This is annoying and very reminiscent of the Ronaldo saga

How many CL titles as he missed out on since the fax machine fiasco? He must be kicking himself.

I did say top 5, he isn't top 2 and i have not said he is top 2 either.

If you are 442 then top 4 so we are not far away. Just the term world class is a bit open to conjecture. For me Kane is not world class.

Pogba is a fair way from even being the best midfielder in the Prem, let alone the world. The price you were suckered into paying for him is irrelevant.

True. When you have 30m bargains like sissoko, pogba is way overpriced

You're talking rubbish. 2 Cups and he scored in one of the finals. He will be here for about 10 years. It's an investment.
He's going to be here for ten years and he scored a goal therefore he's world class. :wenger:
Very low threshold mate. Is Jamie Vardy world class then?
You can't call someone world class on what they may or may not achieve in the future, that's ridiculously presumptuous.

Real keeper made one goodish save last night, otherwise he wasn't called upon. Fact is we need De Gea more than Real do. So fight to keep him, or execute a trade that genuinely benefits us. Watching last night though, who would want to leave RM right now? We'd end up with a James rather than a Kroos.

Hope Woody clinches his cheeks and repel Madrid's offers with everything he's got. As the great man said, we shouldn't sell them a virus, let alone our best players. The way they always try to get out best players and unload on us their overpaid rejects is disgusting.
We did eventually sell ronaldo to him, every player has a price and he must just get the best deal if de gea wants to leave. Get a new younger excellent keeper in. Let romero and new keeper rotate, we cant have this saga running every summer and if a player doesnt rate united let him feck off no matter who. SAF would have done the same.

I'd do a De Gea for Morata plus £20m from RM in a heartbeat. That money will go towards a nice goalie replacement.

Yeah, give away arguably the best GK in the world, who is also one of the best players in the world, for £20m and a serial bench player who is 24 and has never scored 20 league goals in his career. The way we under value our own players on this forum is crazy at times. Which goalkeeper will you sign for £20m who is of the right quality for United?

I'd agree that De Gea is an exceptional case, and the circumstances you've mentioned in addition to others, guarantee he'll go for a lot of money. However, a large sum is different for a goalkeeper compared to an outfield player, or more specifically an attacking midfielder or attacker. The latter are the 'players of that level' with a ~£60m+ going rate.

Even in these rare and exceptional cases, I can't see goalkeepers going for more than between that 30-50 range for a good while.

I know where you're coming, hence the "it's 2017" remark. It really doesn't matter whether he's a right back or goal keeper, it's an inflated market and he's one of the best players in the world, if Everton could sell John Stones fo £50m and Benfica got £35m for Ederson, then De Gea should go for nothing less than £100m.

I don't know man. Morata is a very good player imo.

Plus, like others have said, if de Gea wants to go, then the club's opinion becomes secondary. If the player wants to leave, it's better he leaves.

The one possible downside of this deal is whether Morata wants to be at United. It seems that he'd rather stay and get a fair chance at Madrid but is being forced out. Which, after di Maria, should be considered a red flag.

We should just get as much money out of it as we can and spend it on players who want to come here.

Make them pay through the fecking roof like every other club does to us. £66 million is very generous to Madrid.

Actually I agree with this but giving De Gea away for Morata & 20m is not a good deal, Morata might be a good player but he's nowhere near established, De Gea is world class, one of the best players in the world, if he leaves, we'll be stupid not to take demand a premium.

This is all I'm saying. It's crazy that a lot of our fans seem to be ok with this idea £66m for De Gea.

This would be another incredibly underwhelming one, the guy doesn't even want to leave RM.

We gave them Ronaldo and he helped them make new history, and now we will give them DDG one of the best GK in the world football then we complain and say we want to be European force again like Madrid is! then we should stop selling them our best players ffs. fecking simple. say no or ask for hilarious money.

The flaw in the logic is that both players were bought by the same club is evidence of the transfer policy of said club and less telling of the general market.

Bit of both, IMO. Any player linked with a top club seems to have their value multiplied. £60m for Virgil Van Dijk, for example. Good player, but £60m? Madness. Ivan Perisic was sold to Inter for £10m by Wolfsburg 3 years ago. United reportedly show interest, and now he's a £35m player.

The market is ridiculous, and top clubs will spend silly money to get the player they want, because clubs slap on big price tags to either deter bids, or to be adequately compensated.

Either way, something has to give in the next few years. Such spending seems reckless, but there is no end in sight.

This is true in theory. In practice, the top earners at those clubs are on far higher wages than anyone in the PL. Kroos and Ramos makes as much as Zlatan, the highest paid player in PL history. They don't even crack the top 5 in Spain...
I agree what you stated is a fact. The point I am making is, United pay Zlatan that wage and not other players because they are not on his level. Had we had players who are of even higher quality than current Zlatan like Kroos/Ramos/Bale/Ronaldo etc for their position, those 3 clubs incl United will pay the same astronomical wages paid by Real/Barca instead of losing them down to money power. Previously they wont but now they will pay whatever the best could get in other clubs as the stakes are pretty high now.

MARCA are mouthpiece of Real and maybe Florentino has briefed them of the same. Looks like it will be be #davestays again :)

Said it before.Real don't need DDG. Navas while not on Dave's level, is a very good keeper. His form at the he start of the season was due to returning form injury. Florentino Pérez is just obsessed with DDG because of how badly he embarrassed himself with the fax machine fiasco.
By all accounts Zidane is very happy with Navas and I assume that at this particular moment, his wishes are rather important in this matter.

What's the point of getting morata? If he does become world class (I doubt it) then surely he will be moaning to go back to Spain soon as any interest rises?

There's a thread on how we got robbed for Ronaldo, getting morata for de gea is worse to the point of being funny. You do realise this is a guy who has predominantly been linked with Milan?

Either Madrid break or play close to the world record & if they can't - then add Bale to a deal- who is a player who will improve our game significantly in all fronts from the PL to the CL. There maybe doubts about his fitness & how well he settles in but Morata is no where near good enough of a player to guarantee you goals in this league even if he is less injury prone than gareth.

Any deal that would involve De Gea for Morata would be criminal.

If we want to re-establish ourselves as a force in Europe, we simply cannot be selling off our best players, especially to our rivals.

David stays.

Club says he is happy and looking forward to playing in the champions league. That'll do me!

I really should of posted this before.

Like I said before, I told David De gea to stay AND Ed Woodward. Didnt catch it on video but uploaded a photo of him seconds after I told him to make sure De gea stays and he gave me thumbs up.

I was so drunk so I wrote "David gill":lol:

Is this for real?? :confused::confused:
Yes, look at the photo im going to send. I didnt record when I told him that but I took a photo.
 Promote this lad! You will go down as a caf legend. All we need now is DDG to come and say the reason he is staying is because of a fan begging him to stay after the EL final ;)

Haha, Im telling you! His smile said it all. Go on and promote me someone! Or send some + to me So i can finally upload the photos and videos I had from that day.

Marca and Sky Sports Italia already reporting that Madrid is on to Donarumma. I told you he's staying lads.

Straight swap for Morata and Rodriguez.

Accept nothing less!
It depends on who is more desperate! And its certainly us. They don't really need De Gea. He will only be an addition to their already star-studded team. But we definitely have to sign a striker. De Gea + 30m euros for them both would be fair.

Even herenandez an welbeck or Vardy combined will offer same amount of goals or more Than morata.
