David De Gea

And so it begins.

Still think that the wise thing is to instantly turn down their offer, unless De Gea pushes for a move. If he does so, we should insist for a world record transfer fee (90m pounds).

If Madrid did indeed bid for Dave, I'd swear the Spanish press would have been first would be all over it?

Well done Woodward. RM so used to unsettling players and making them force moves and DDG seems wise enough to wait in the background.

No doubt he will go but might as well get some haggling going!

United may have gone public hoping ddg puts a transfer request in .
(That's if they want rid)

WR money for keeper I would say is a very good offer

I would have agreed with you if Ederson didn't transfer for City with such a fee. David is one of the best keepers in the world, arguably the second best after Neur so his value should be double that of a keeper with no name as Ederson.

Make them 90m or they can feck off. We don't need the money.

I just can't see that being true

Why insist for anything? Its only 48 hrs since these same sources claimed David didn't want to move and looked forward to playing with us in the CL next season.
Madrid finally got serious over this when it's too late imo.

Not unless we leaked it. It's more likely rubbish though. I mean "Sky sources"? This isn't 2014, they know feck all.

Wonder if De Gea really wants to leave? If so, then this season is probably the season to sell him.
If the bid is true, then rejecting a 60m offer is a big statement that we want at least 80m+ and if he wants to leave, it's near a world record for a player, let along a gk.

Wether we keep De Gea or not, I just hope we aim higher that the rumours of Keane etc.

As I said, if he pushes for a move, we should insist for a world record. Otherwise, we should keep De Gea regardless of what they offer (unless there is something outrageous like Kroos + Bale/Isco which will never happen, obviously).

Seems likely. We were clearly behind the leaks yesterday.
So today's reports make it seem like we are certain that we aren't selling.

If they bid 70 sell him, you could buy some serious quality in defence and midfield if we added say 50m of that to our already huge war chest.
I'm not sure any keeper is worth 70mil

Why would you bid for a GK 3 days your current GK plays in a CL final?
That's what I have been thinking. What a way to destroy the morale of your goalkeeper.
It's a decent opening bid I must say I am worried now as it seems Real Madrid want him.

The timing of this alleged bid makes me doubt it has actually been made. Madrid may be obnoxious but surely aren't stupid enough to bid for a goalkeeper a matter of days before their current one plays in a CL final. It wouldn't be difficult to just hold out for a few more days.

Point well made, if he wants to go. I think we will deal at £75m and for a keeper that would be fantastic money

I'd sell for £70m+. That would get us another world class attacking player, which imo would benefit us more than keeping De Gea.

Completely agree. Also I agree with your previous post that the Spanish press would have been all over it. Surely?

I hope we take the line that he's simply not for sale, he's the best goalkeeper in the world and has 10 years at the top left.

With the money we have there no money would tempt me to sell him, he should stay and become a legend here, we have no need to be real's b*tches anymore

That would make sense if we were strapped for cash.
We don't need to sell Dave to buy anybody.

If we go in market for oblak we;ll have to pay atleast 50 m plus

Ed woodward should be the new daniel levy
He's getting better at the whole selling thing, he's a little quick on the trigger when buying. Signed Pogba amazing, signed fellaini for 7m more than needed not so good. Kept De Gea, gave lingard 100k a week, swings and round abouts ha

£75m and a transfer request gets the job done.
This is the thing. I'm not sure DDG wants it that bad to chuck in a transfer request though. I always get the feeling that he'd like Real (Madrid) but he isn't desperate for it. He's happy picking up a fantastic wage at a big club that he enjoys playing for.

We will have to start challenging for the title and in Europe soon though.

Then don't, we can bring in a solid keeper or bring Romero through, i wasn't a fan of his when we signed him but he's been real classy in Europe, tighten the defence and midfield and we can play without a keeper

No keeper is worth that much but even in the current climate. But again no midfielder is worth as much as what we paid for Pogba. From a purely pragmatic point, we should sell for that amount as it is good business but we do risk to compromise our status and ego as a club if we lose a player we want to keep. We cannot claim we are on equal footing if we sell players we want to keep regardless of what's on offer.

Not sure what to make of this tbh, in reality not a lot has changed assuming the reports that he's happy to stay and we obviously want him to are correct however Madrid putting a bid in this early means it's hard to believe they won't return between now and September

Of course that bid could have been months ago already

I don't think it will get done without a transfer request. Lets United say "we only want players who want to be here" rather than agreeing to sell their best player if he didn't want to go.

Thats a firm offer to be 100% honest! At what point do we consider? £800 million for me.
