Just an interest, not an official signing.. Hmm.. 20-year old De Gea to replace VDS? Was certainly hoping for somebody much more experienced.

I dont entirely agree, Bosnich was a fantastic keeper with great organisation but his composure was questionable. Howard was good at both but just prone to the occasional brain fart.

Barthez was just shit.
 
We can't sign De Gea because he's in one of those big European countries that the transfer window isn't open in, though.

Then explain to me why Reira 'although it never went through' able to almost sign for CSK in March last year? I thought the ruling was that you could sell to whoever was asking as long as it fell within their transfer window.

You can sign a player at any time of the year. It just won't be official until the transfer windows open, when they submit the paperwork.
 
Well we shouldn't lose any sleep over it, if he doesn't want to come here.

I am sure Fergie will get it right cause he knows a top quality keeper is our priority.

There are no transfer windows for signing out of contract players.

You can sign a memorandum of understanding outside of the transfer window but cannot actually register a player with relevant authorities until the transfer window officially opens.
 
So have we signed him or not .Maybe the thread should go back in the transfer forum.

The English window opens next week doesn't it? We can sign him when the English window opens, we don't have to wait for the spanish one to open.

We can't have him registered and all that. But there's nothing preventing clubs and players from agreeing and announcing official deals.

Why would SAF make such an announcement? To take some of the heat off Giggs? Notice how for a day all attention went to de Gea?

If De Gea is our first choice replacement that would risk jeopardising the transfer, though.

It is probably both, IMO. The deal is done, and the timing took some of the sting out of the Giggs shite.

I know full well what SAF said, yet I didn't get me weiner out did I? Nothing is cast in stone until their is pen laid to paper by both clubs and the player. Seen too many transfers go wrong. There could be a plethora of reasons why SAF said what he said. But one thing is clear, HE NEVER SAID we signed the gay dude.

And what I inferred from what SAF said is what I said in my initial posts. That he's one of our targets, the one we want and the we are very close to sealing the deal but we havn't quite done it yet. Why would he do that? Well many have given some very plausible reason as yet...

Either way, if we do sign him I'd be excited but we havn't yet.
