Reports suggest that the English FA has already charged him for horrifying the poor children and showing his finger directly in the camera , in anticipation of his move to Manchester United.

Whatever he means! Something U-21 related.

We've pulled out since Neuer isn't going to Bayern anymore... ...I wish this was the case anyway. (I heard they've declined a 22m bid for him from Bayern, which probably isn't even true like most muppet stories.)

Like has already been said, very carefully worded. It's probably already been agreed but not signed. We were told to expect the announcement this coming Monday but everybody is skipping ahead so they're probably just being careful.

The Neuer move has hit a stumbling block indeed, that's all down to Putin (It's a very long story) meaning it's Bayern or nowhere.

Real Madrid’s Iker Casillas insists Manchester United-bound David de Gea will be pushing for Spain No.1 spot soon. Despite playing for the rivals of the goalkeeper’s current club, the World Cup winner praises the youngster and expects a challenge with him for his national team shirt

Edwin van der Sar will be passing on Manchester United's No.1 shirt to a worthy candidate in Atletico Madrid's David de Gea, according to Real Madrid and Spain captain Iker Casillas.

Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed that the Atletico Madrid keeper is set to join United this summer as a replacement for the retiring Van der Sar, despite the La Liga club claiming nothing is yet in place, and Casillas expects to quickly be put under pressure for his international place by the 20-year-old.

"He will soon be fighting for my place. He's a great keeper,” Casillas told The Sun.

"We have to take care of him because he is the future. He is 20 years old. He will pension us all off.

"I hope he does great things for his club and the Spanish national team."

De Gea rose to prominence with Atletico in the Spanish capital at the age of 18 and quickly cemented his place in the first-team, something Casillas also had to do at Real Madrid.

"He will learn a lot from the fact he has started so young. I had it as well,” added the Spain international.

"The people of Atletico Madrid have to be so proud that such a great keeper has come out of their academy.

"Everyone has seen what he's been doing and praising his performances. Watching him reminds me a lot of when I started 12 years ago.

"Between us all, we have to look after him. He has a long road in front of him and when he least expects it he will get a call-up to the national team.

"I'm not suddenly discovering De Gea now everyone has seen what he is capable of doing. He's a good professional and a great person and that for me is very important."

Meanwhile, De Gea has hailed Casillas as the best goalkeeper in the world, saying: "I think not just for me but for many keepers, he's a point of reference and an example to follow.

"He has incredible qualities and right now he's the best keeper in the world."

"My feeling is that it will go to United, bet Gil Marin, Atletico explaining that he has made a renewal offer that would multiply his current salary for six, but the player has not answered. "Mi sensación es que se irá al United", apostó Gil Marín, que explicó que el Atlético le ha hecho una oferta de renovación que multiplicaría por seis su sueldo actual, pero que el jugador no ha contestado.

Atletico leader said he has spoken "with De Gea and her mother, but it seems it will not accept." The Committee accepted the possibility that the squad go to one of the best teams in the world. "The club is not a prison and, as in the case of Sergio, we do not want no one who does not want to be," he said. "El club no es una cárcel y, como en el caso de Sergio, no queremos a ninguno que no quiera estar", sentenció.

De gea is coming to theatre of dreams.

He cant say its done because otherwise his current agent will demand money from the deal something Ballague made a point of saying on Tuesday night, the fact is Sir alex has and would never comment on a player the way he did if the deal wasnt complete.

Stop panicking hes ours.

I recently heard Ballague reiterate this point, we have our reason.

I'm reading all that with a Jeremy Clarkson type of voice in my head. And yes, it makes little to no sense.

I'm excited and nervous in equal measures about this signing.

It's definitely a high-risk strategy. He's very very young to be a number one at a club as big as United. Especially when he has to settle down in a foreign country. In any other area of the pitch I'd have absolute faith in Fergie's judgement but in nets...

:nervous:

Reassure me, gimps.

He looks exceptionally talented, we've just got to be aware he is going to make mistakes and hopefully they don't effect his confidence because if he they don't he's got all the tools to be one of the very best in the world for a long time.

I think this guy's gonna be the business for us. Been watching him pretty much since he broke into the Atlético team at 18. All the journalists and pundits alike wouldn't rave about someone if he wasn't worth the praise. He's done a fantastic job with an awful defense in front of him. He can only get better, and one day i do think young David will be the best in the world. Great faith shown by Fergie here. Let's trust his judgement lads.

Diego Forlan has told David de Gea to join Manchester United | The Sun |Sport|Football

DIEGO FORLAN has told David de Gea to join Manchester United, insisting: "You'll be working for a legend."

Despite a disappointing four-year spell at Old Trafford under boss Alex Ferguson, hitman Forlan raved about the Scot when Atletico Madrid team-mate De Gea asked for advice.

The Uruguay star said: "David is a very good keeper with a bright future. He asked my advice about moving to United and we talked about it a lot.

"It is a great place to experience as a player.

"The manager is a legend, the staff are all really good and the fans were always very supportive of me, even when I wasn't scoring."

DIEGO, Woahhh OOoo!

I fecking love that man, a fecking travesty that he was booed from athletico fans all year.

Atlético.

Didn't he make some very, errm, ill thought of words in the press that made the fans react like that?

The "United We Stand" podcast had a very good guest in Sid Lowe this week. I think he said something along the lines of "De Gea has extremely high raw potential, but he would've liked to have seen him be Van Der Sar's understudy for a few years rather than his replacement"

The first time you see him you'll be very impressed with his comfortability with is feet, his capability in the air and his assertive distribution, but above all you'll love his composure/calmness/air of solidity...he'll do all the work for you.

Atletico Madrid have admitted that they full expect David De Gea to finalise a move to Manchester United.

Sir Alex Ferguson has already confirmed the club are closing in on De Gea as a replacement for the retiring Edwin van der Sar.

The player himself insisted he had not agreed anything, but Atletico's chief executive Miguel Angel Gil Marin admits he is Old Trafford-bound.

"My feeling is that he will go to United," Gil Marin confirmed to Radio Marca.

"We made him an offer for six years to multiply his salary, but we have heard nothing.

"With De Gea and his mother, it seems they will not accept."

Looking forward to watching him in the U21 Championship

Sorry, just seen those quotes are posted above. Oh well, the muppet must be released and cannot be tamed

face saving exercise, for Athletico,

Can someone make a list of the big howlers he's made the last two seasons?
I seem to recall him making quite a few, or at least too many, but that might jut be my memory exaggerating.

Last season he was epic. This season he has had a 'second season' and made some mistakes. He is young and it will happen. the talent is there, but consistency and experience are not. It is the risk with the lad to be honest. He can, genuinely, go on to become one of the best keepers in the world, but he will need a little time and patience - which fans and fergie are not famed for with keepers.

Will he go straight in at number one, or will there be a consistant rotation between him and Lindegaard while they both get experience?

He'll be number 1. He's more experienced than Lindegaard even through he's seven years younger.

If he comes, fans need to get their expectations right. He will need a lot of time and patience. The fans will need to get over mistakes and his lack of experience (alhtough he has pretty much for such a young keeper).

About the other keepers taht we had, they were much older than him and the expectations higher (Barthez, but also Foster, Howard)

It's the one position I'm not sure you can afford time and patience.

When you have such a strong setup outfeild, the difference between them realising their potential and winning nothing can be from a couple of silly mistakes here and there by a goalkeeper.
