Wonderful keeper, so young could be at United for years and years great signing.

Central midfielder (Modric) left, then we are done for the summer. So happy with De Gea, Young and Jones.

Has anyone started a "he failed his medical" rumour on Twatter yet?

Why does age matter? If he has the talent (and he does), he will succeed.

I am so excited by this signing.

Some goalies like Buffon and Casillas were great even as teenagers. I'm hoping De Gea turns out to be in that class, although it might be asking for a bit much.

Can guarantee the cnut behind me will be slating him after his first mistake. No chance he'll be able to pronounce his name either, he still hasn't managed to get Chicharito right. Hope he hasn't renewed / died in a fire.

As long as Fergie is patient, it doesnt matter if some caftards can forgive some mistakes or not

on the plus side...Hart for a young lad has done well so far.

Hart is 24 though, 4 years older than De Gea. When he was De Gea's age he was on loan at tranmere.

I can't wait for next season now, more so than the last 3-4 years.

Look at the length of his fingers in this photo. Im taking this as a good sign for us. Gloves must be specially made for him. You know what they say with people with long fingers.................? I'll leave the space for your comments for that :D

fergie will be commenting soon on how de gea is more magnificent than dion dublin. :D:D

Lindegaard has been saying he will fight for the No 1 spot.

Hope to see more of him in Pre-Season.

Either of these lads should be better than PIG.

To be honest, my cat has more positional sense than PIG, mate. :D

It's very exciting that we're putting so much faith in a young keeper. But if everything we've seen and heard from him is true, he will be here for a long time. Wrap up the signing quickly.

Then we just need that midfielder.

Not for the first time. I think Gary Bailey was 20 when he made his debut and he turned out pretty well.

This signing has been one of the worst kept secrets in football for 6 months, but I'm still very excited by it. I admit I would have loved Neuer after that first leg where he single-handedly kept Schalke in the game, but he was always going to Bayern. I've no concerns with having a young keeper - we must think he is good enough already, and we have had great success with young players at this club. He may be under more pressure not to make mistakes than a young winger or striker, but he has the best defence in the world in front of him to protect him. I'm confident he'll do well next season, and hopefully the press won't jump all over him when he does make the odd , inevitable mistake.

Lots of positive comments about De Gea and you'd expect that on a United forum but truth is he's still young, very inexperienced and will be fresh to our league. I hope he does well but if he makes mistakes the press will eat him alive, like they did Bebe or more relevantly, Massimo Tiabi.

At least we know he is comfortable with his feet at least. Time will really tell on the rest. Good luck to him.

next, get alcantara and mata....since we can't get spanish first team lads, let's raid thei u21's.

Yes, must admit being English and supporting and English football club it would be brilliant to see our team full of Spanish players.........:( We did alright in the past and we will do alright now. I'd prefer we develop our own!!

In terms of raw talent and potential, I see no reason why he can't be named in that group. Let's just hope his career can follow a similar path.
