It's still unlikely, he grew up as an athletico fan, he is not Sanchez or Aguero. It's like asking if you would join Liverpool.

But mate. in England you have a choice. Liverpool, United, Arsenal, Chelsea... now City. Spurs.

In Spain if you are really good u can choose Barca or Madrid. thats it. If Barca aint coming for you. you got no choice left.

Or go to Italy/Germany/England if you must move?

Some players may prefer to stay in their home nation, or atleast where they learned their trade and are used to the lifestyle. If the club accepts a bid from Real or Barca, a player would more than likely move there. Who doesnt want to win thier respective nations league and compete in the CL every season??

Players may not push for a move to Real or Barca, but when they knocking on the door it will be hard for anyone to turn down, espeically at a club that is not really doing well.

So you would honestly believe a kid would turn down the best possible move to his career. He would turn down a chance to stay in a city he grew up. and he would accept a move to foreign country with a unfamiliar culture to play for inferior team. Just out of loyalty to your former club? What about the loyalties to his family? His friends?

Are United inferior to Real???

who are these people? i need to be following them instead of rio

Try @theinsider9 for a start, or @intheknow99. In the last few months I've known either to be wrong. Amongst all the bollocks there are one or two who genuinely have contacts. I'd be very surprised if we didn't announce the signing of de gea in the next two weeks.

Both of them are United fans actually and yes they get it spot on most of the times.

Raul was god like figure and he was sent away to Shalke. I agree it is most unlikely. But in de gea place i would wait and see for 2-3 years if madrid or barca shows any interest.

Well fortunately you aren't de gea being offered the chance to join one of the big three in world football. Also, maybe he thinks he can go to real or barca in the future.

So do Barcelona, would you call them inferior to Real?

In the last 6-7 years Barcelona had a better team. But Real historic status is much superior. For that reason i would find UCL final United - Real more special that United - Barcelona.

Yes they are. One is a journalist and the other used to work in player agency. If they don't know they say so, if it's just a rumour they say so.

Didn't knew about that. I'm guessing that Insider9 guy is a journalist and intheknow99 works in player agency?

Silly argument. Surely it depends on who is the better team/bigger club just now. By that logic Real are inferior to Benfica.

I dont wanna go into this argument. I think United is by far the biggest club in UK. But in whole europe IMO noone can compare to Madrid. for example i would never expect a player that both Real and United would go after to even consider picking United instead of Madrid even if it would put his career at risk knowing how Madrid treat some of their players.

The de gea signing was confirmed by a couple of reliable itk's on twitter yesterday, deal to be announced shortly after the cl final.

Shall we assume that someone will be sitting with a camera trying to spot him at Wembley

who the feck is valentino?

Well, he can move to United and then force a move to Spain if he wanted, by question is - why the hell would he want to play for Real Madrid so much when he has been raised as an Atletico fan and he began his career there?

Because Valentino want to wind you up.

For god sake i dont want to wind up anyone.

Yes i understand he is Atletico fan, but IMO this overrated. How may players were 'fans' and left the club when they got a chance for a team that they sweared never to join? Yes you say he is not argentinian but to me its just looking for excuses.

We cant now what De gea really thinks. We are guessing. And i dont think it is possible to be so loyal to your team. That the loyalty would outweigh the correct career path. They are professionals firstly not fans.

If madrid wouldnt want him when fair enough. But if he can pick on of two. United or Madrid. Lets say two equally great clubs. Tell please do you really believe that United + showing loyalty to atletico - foreign country, shit food, terrible weather, would outweigh same city he grow up to, family and friends close minus loyalty to former club?

It's absurd to think that he would turn down a legitimate offer from United now, solely based on the hope that one day, several years from now, an offer would come from Real or Barca.

The problem is mate, De Gea was NEVER linked with Madrid what so ever, also, Athletico hardly ever sells players to RM because they are arch enemies just like Utd - City, Utd - Liverpool ( Don't ever mention Tevez because we loaned him and City had every right to sign him ).

I'm confused how you made up the De Gea love for Madrid... He's only clear path if he were to move forward in Spain would be Barca.

Not that Barca have the greatest GK, but if we have made a move like most of the reports have claimed, then I don't think De Gea has much of a choice if we can match his wage demand and give his beloved club the money that he is worth...

From Twitter (yeah yeah where else)

espanafutbol Now being reported in Spain via Cadena SER radio, that #Atleti's David de Gea will be confirmed as a #MUFC player on Monday.

Yes, I honestly believe that between having a chance to join United, a huge club with great history, a club that has won plenty of trophies recently and will likely keep winning them, and MAYBE having an opportunity to play for Real Madrid in six, seven or eight years IF they decide to move for him of all the goalkeepers, he would choose United right now. It's daft to suggest he would hold on until Real Madrid, a team he probably hates, makes a move.

Agreed. Also, goalkeepers do not necessarily need to go to Madrid to get the feeling they've made it. The two biggest goalies in the last ten years have never played for a Spanish club.

(Sorry for any grammar mistakes, I'm a bit tired).
