David De Gea (SAF confirmed signing!)

I thought when Fergie said a few weeks ago that VDS should "retire at the top", that he'd already lined up a deal elsewhere. I think of VDS had decided to stay another year earlier he would have but obviously now it's too late.

Seems inevitable that De Gea is on his way - if there was any doubt, VDS would have been persuaded to stay.

I'm guessing it will be confirmed pretty soon. Reports from Spain + What Fergie and Gill say make me think it's not really a case of 'thinking my future and deciding on June 30'.
 
The fact that Ballague reports it probably makes it less credible than it already is.

Casillas could last another 5-10 years, Valdez is young. Oh and De Gea was brought up as an athletico fan, he won't join Real

Aguero is Argentinian. De Gea is Atheltico born and bred. What part of that don't you understand?

i believe it is easier for outfield players to change clubs. If the young player become world class. He has a very good chance that Madrid or Barca will come and get him, even if they have already have an ALL STAR in his position.
 
Okay, the most important point is Casillas is a god like figure for Madrid and he's still a world class goalkeeper, and Barca have a young keeper who is very good. Add the Atletico factor to it and it's very, very unlikely.

Raul was god like figure and he was sent away to Shalke. I agree it is most unlikely. But in de gea place i would wait and see for 2-3 years if madrid or barca shows any interest.

Raul and Casillas is not comparable. Casillas has a few years left in him and goalkeepers can play to a high level for much longer. And if you are talking of potential replacements if I was Madrid/Barca I would look at Pepe Reina rather than De Gea who is unlikely to join.

Loyalty is gone. Players have a scapegoat now, as they can just brush it off as "oh but the club accepted the bid so it's not my fault". Money and cup competitions talk.

It's still unlikely, he grew up as an athletico fan, he is not Sanchez or Aguero. It's like asking if you would join Liverpool.
 
Casilas will play on into his late 30's like most keepers do. I'm not worried about Barca or Madrid coming after The Gay.

Exactly. Even more i found it laughable to even suggest that a young spanish kid would dare to turn down Real Madrid. :lol:
