I don't agree, Rooney came on and was pulling the strings for Everton and got them back in the game with 2 assists if I'm not mistaken.

Came on and totally killed Brown and the RB at that time as Rooney was playing a bit on the left but his pace and trickery was immense that day when he came on... Never in the world did I think that this was a 17 yr old at that time. Played with the composure of a 25 yr old.

Yeah that didnt happen, at least not in his first game against us in the first team. He burst onto the scene with his goal against Arsenal not with 2 assists against us. I do believe that he was brilliant against one of our youth teams though

You're right IIRC, he had some good cameo moments in his first PL game but we went on to win it quite handily, Scholes scoring another cracker.
He did make our defence look a bit stupid but that was the measure of the lad and I'm sure it convinced SAF to make a move for him after the Euros

Guillem Balague has just stated on the live Spanish game that De Gea is a done deal between the clubs with a fee and all other things having been decided.

It is just down to a personal choice by himself and if he wants to move to us or not.

That's what everyone's been saying for 2 weeks. I'm sure this guy just follows FreddieBoswell7 on twitter and copies everything he says

I apologised for reposting something that has undoubtedly been said in the last few pages of this thread but I did not want to read all the way through to find it.

Interesting if true, although I would like to know an accurate price for him

Of twitter - Martin Ferguson is in the stands at the Espanyol vs. Atlético Madrid game tonight.

Don't need to apologise if you thought I was having a go at you too! Was directed at Guillem!

Does Martin Ferguson negotiate on behalf of Utd or is he just a scout? Don't think he would be there just to see De Gea, maybe he's there for Forlan?

Another striker? No chance.

He's wasting his time then isn't he based on the fact that he isn't playing.

I very much doubt he does the negotiating but I would be surprised if he was not involved in starting negotiations. He will probably be relied on to sow any seeds of interest and try and gauge likelihood of players being sold

Forlan's not playing so there wouldn't be much point in that! He's a scout.

Another striker? No chance.

Why not?

I agree that Forlan is highly unlikely but I wouldn't be surprised to see us being linked with, and possibly buying another striker.

I don't think Ferguson trusts Berbatov enough in the biggest of games and in games like yesterday, I think he would like to have all of his strikers that he can trust in any game

My cock's out, that's all that matters.

Not watching the game so didn't know Forlan's not playing, paper linked us to Forlan this morning so that's why I thought of that.

Didn't have a chance with the goal tbh, took a deflection and flew past him. I intended to watch the match properly to see how he looked and dealt with crosses etc but I've had my eyes on the caf most of the time

Hows De Gea done today? Could have done better for the goal?

Couldn't have done anything about the goal, think of Inzaghi's second in the 1999 semi. Came off a defenders foot and looped over him.

I'm sure someone will try and blame him for Espanyol's second - but sometimes the forward deserves the goal

2-2 - brilliant header, nothing keeper can do about that.

Just conceded another, but he didnt have much chance of saving that either. He hasnt had that much to do, came and collected a couple of crosses, punched away a difficult one when jumping with espanyol's striker. Cant really remember espanyol having that many shots on target.

Probably compiling reports. Why else would he be there?

Fergie usually sends his brother to do a final check on a player he is considering signing.

The last 20 mins were boring. I kept urging Espanyol to attack so I could see De Gea in action but he had absolutely nothing to do except kick the ball 4 times

Is he still thinking about if he wants to join us or not? If so, then maybe we shoud look elsewhere. I remember the time when every player wanted to join us at the first possible chance.

United have not bid for him. What exactly do you expect him to do?

Well, it depends on who you believe, but it seem that you know we have not bid for him? If we have and it's accepted it should be a no brainer for him joining us.

I know of no firm evidence that we have bid for him. You have no evidence for it either. But you're the one moaning that the player himself has not made any move.

That has never been the case here, nor at any club(yes even Barca and Real). How many Spanish players have you heard clamouring for a move to sunny old Manchester. There are more factors than just the quality of the football team to consider when seeking a transfer which a lot of fans don't seem to take into consideration.
