Currently I'd say Casillas>Valdes>De Gea

Some years later hopefully becomes Casillas>De Gea>Valdes

Reina is better than Valdes. I would like to see the later play behind a weak defense and see how he copes. He just looks good making a couple of saves a night and having clean sheets due to Barca's domination of possession. Has he ever had a clean sheet playing against an English team in the Champions League?

Possibly he does seem to save an alarming number of shots with his legs than most keepers. Wouldn't surprise me if our coaches were working on specific techniques, feel like it has been to the detriment of his kicking. It's no longer as imperious as it was to begin with and there have been a few dodgy kicks from him albeit under pressure.
A keeper who will react instinctively, stick a leg out and parry with his legs is not necessarily a bad thing. I've seen a number of goals being scored due to the keeper trying to dive for balls near his feet. In fact, Joe Hart almost let one in against Arsenal yesterday when he dove down to parry it when sticking a leg out would've done the job.

This is a perfect example of when instinctively sticking a leg out would've done the job instead of diving for it..

Well, your opinion that he's in his prime doesn't make sense. He's only played 2 seasons of football and you've seen him less than 10 times in a competitive match for United. No way you can decipher from that, that he is in his prime.

Really??

Giggs-Beckham outsmarted, perhaps he should do a quick google check next time

What's the opinion based on?

My small minded misplaced observations clearly, get over it. I think De Gea has a way to go but Lindegaard looks more like the finished article, at least physically. I'm sure De Gea will become great, but CL final tomorrow I'd start Lindegaard.

Jesus, sorry for having the audacity to ask you to explain your opinion.

Amidst all the spastic reaction in the press post Basel defeat about how de Gea is rubbish one of the more measured reactions by someone on five live (possibly lee dixon) was that he's on his heels more than he should be for a keeper at this level.
Yeah, I've noticed he sometimes hasn't got himself set properly.

It was most noticeable early in the season when he let in a few soft goals. There were a couple of times where he was sort of jumping up and down slightly, getting ready to spring to either side to make a save. The problem was, he was in mid-air with one of those little bounces as the shot was coming in, leaving him late to react. The Dzeko shot in the Charity Shield was the most obvious one, but I noticed it a couple of other times as well (most of which didn't actually result in a goal).

He's certainly improved since then, and I have no doubt he'll continue to improve further. But occasionally he won't quite have his feet in the right positions and it'll make it hard for him to react properly.

My brother made a point after DJ Campbell missed that sitter that De Gea just kind of looked at Rio (who had lost his man) but seemed to bottle having a word with him. I do think Lindegaard seems to be more willing to have ago at his defenders, but he seems in general more of an extrovert and already knows the language so not surprising. De Gea will want to work on that though, I'd have thought. A United keeper needs to have a mouth on him!

Being 21 and Spanish might have something to do with it but I have noticed at times when we have conceded (City at home) De Gea looked furious with some of the defending. Can you blame him

Yeah like i said Lindegaard knows the language and has that self-confidence bordering on arrogance that makes him look more authoritative from the outside looking in, but De Gea is perhaps more of the kind who exudes a quiet intensity and calmness. Once he learns the language hopefully he'll speak up at least a little bit, I do think it's important for a keeper to do so.

His errors haven't cost his team any points in the league this season. How many other premiership goalkeepers can you say that about?

What has De Gea done wrong that there are 2 pages doubting him now? Yes, QPR had chances against us. So will any other team we'll play. Is he to blame for the chances the other team creates?

He looks great as far as I am concerned. I like Lindegaard too, and it's great to have 2 solid goalkeepers.

I think the real question is not handling, distribution or concentration but which of the two would make a better santa.

VDS wasnt really known for his outbursts either. I am sure De Gea will shout when he has to once he knows the language better and feels more settled.

It is just crazy that every single little thing has to be discussed under the microscope here

Cost us in Basel though with that bizarre effort with the first goal.

I like him, think he needs 3/4 years though. 20 at Utd is so young.

Right now, im more confident with Lindegaard in the big games.

Are you basing that on the fact that Lindegaard hasn't played a single big game for us yet?

Benfica away in the champions league? That was at the time, a tough game away from home in Europe infront of a big crowd.

He has more of a presence and I think gives off more confidence. De Gea will go on to be twice the keeper im sure. But right now, id play Lindegaard.
