really good performance from the lad.

2 moments stood out as a sign of his potential;
-How quick he got across the goal for the Ramires shot
-when torres' bobbling shot came back off him, just how quick he got up and set for the next shot.

He is one agile man. He doesn't seem overly tall compared to other top goalkeepers (I'd say 6'2") so this quickness and agility will be important.

Edit: its also great to see him shouting at the defenders!

He has definitely put on a few pounds of his upper body muscles compared to when he first arrived after looking at the video.

i noticed that he only shouts "hey" if there is something that he doesnt like. But he doesnt go beyond that yet. Once he is full of confidence and speaks better english, he might be much more vocal and gives them a right bollocking so they wake up

So, what do we think about the prospect of him playing Stoke on the weekend, given their physical play, throw ins etc.?

That's true. We've done very well against Stoke away from home, especially when you consider how much other sides struggle there. But it's always a dangerous place to go to, we've always had some chaos in repelling their Delap throws, even with Van der Sar in goals. I think Bolton aren't in the same league as Stoke in terms of physical play, and the pressure they'd try to exert on the keeper, de Gea or otherwise. We were able to get away with it against Bolton because we played so well, and kept the ball, but I'm not sure we'll have such an easy game on Saturday.

Obviously I'd like him to play, and play a blinder to dispel this idea that he's a bit weak under the high ball, but I'd understand anybody calling for Lindegaard to play this one.

Play him. Either he's ready and up to it and shows it on the day, or he'll be troubled by it and learn from the experience ready for next time.

I cant see a positive for leaving him out.

Why? - How many know how Lindegaard will perform under an aerial barrage. Remember, he doesn't have much Premier League experience, and certainly not the Stoke-away kind.

De Gea will play, and personally I'm expecting a few ropey moments, but that's the only way he'll learn. We can't shelter him, and he's the present and future of the club.

Agree.

Heres another quite amazing David De Gea stat.

De Gea saves so far = 28
VDS saves made last season = 81

De Gea has made 35% of the total number of saves VDS made last season. We are playing a more open game.

Stats from Mondays edtion of Football Weekly.

From Zonal Marking.

United conceded 22 shots here [Chelsea], 22 at Bolton, 20 against Arsenal, 21 against Tottenham and 16 against West Brom. These are surprisingly high figures (they’ve allowed more shots than any other Premier League team) – the question is whether this is because of defensive slackness, or because opponents are overly-keen to test David De Gea.

What about number of shots on goal? Number of shots for me doesn't mean much. Look at the Spurs game Van Der Vaart pretty much shot whenever he got the ball from wherever he is. How many of those were actually a decent effort though?

Attack is often the best form of defense.

The "saves" stat is one of the most pointless stats IMO. Doesn't give context at all to how the player has performed. A weak 30 yard effort also counts as a "save".

I wonder if its just coincidence that this season(so far) we dont have Carrick screening the back 4 and cutting down on the number of shots opponents feel like they can take (compared to last season). Probably not the sole reason but I bet it does factor in.

People better prepare themselves for him to look a bit shaky during Stoke's throw ins. He's probably never seen anything like it before. I remember Vds being caught out a few times with them as well so lets not go overboard if that happens.

Hopefully this week in training it's been all about players running into him, bumping him, along with hundreds and hundreds of crosses, corners coming in.

This. It will be tough and it's going to be a serious learning curve for him. The best have struggled to cope with that Delap throw. We need to Rio in there to take the lead and clear the ball without him having to come for it. But when he comes, he needs to come with conviction and not be unsure. I expect a few nervy moments but it can only be good for him in the long run.

I've got complete faith in him. United will have him prepared for this game by showing him videos etc and telling him what to expect. We don't need to panic. Also withe the way we are playing at the moment, Stoke need to get the ball off us and get up the pitch which won't be easy for them.

Its a game that's made for Vidic. If Rio is fit I would include him and push Jones to right back as I beleive Smalling is still injured. I think De Gea will be fine lets not overplay Stokes threat.

any news of SAF dropping him for this game (Stoke)?
Why you ask these questions. You are just looking for stupid little things...

Do you think Ben Amos has given him a selection dilemma ahead of the Stoke match at the weekend?

Not at all. David de Gea will play on Saturday. That’s the understanding they had before the game and it doesn’t change.

I think he's joking around, because of the random rumors before the Bolton match....

And I think in my previous post were just (changed) quotes from that Kelly Cates' interview with Sir Alex...

I don't think he's strong enough, we should put Valencia in goal or something.
