He is not to blame for it, but every shot is savable.

Are you saying every shot on goal is saveable? Some Ronaldo rockets disagree wtih you.

And as a guy who played in goal.. You are plain wrong.

If you are in the right place, then it is savable. If you are in the wrong place it becomes harder.

Only with the benefit of hindsight and if Evra had somehow turned himself invisible before the shot came in.

The only way De Gea could have saved that is if he'd positioned himself to leave an open net on the other side of the goal. The way the ball dipped after it got past Evra was Federer-like. The 'keeper was completely unsighted.

Like I said, he is not to blame. It was a very difficult shot to stop. But what I am saying it was savable. If he had been standing 6 inches to his left and did the same dive, then he would have reached and saved the ball. Every shot can be potentially saved. is all I am saying and not apportioning any blame.

What is the right position when facing a Ronaldo free kick from the center where you have no clue what the ball may do?

I'm not saying it's easy to find the correct spot. But there is always is a correct spot, whether you find it by skill or good luck. There will always be a place to stand and reach a ball. There is no such thing as an unsaveable shot, hard, even extremely difficult yes! But unsaveable no. Every shot is potentially saveable.

I think you just need to stop now. Just go to sleep.

If he'd positioned himself 6 inches to the left Modric would have had an even easier shot at the opposite corner.

That's not what I am getting at. Every shot is potentially saveable. And that shot in particular was saveable if De Gea was stood to the left by 6 inches or so. It was just bad luck he was 6 inches short on the dive. It's quite easy to understand what I'm trying to say.

You're trying to say that every lottery is winnable if you pick the right numbers, which is a pretty facile way to look at things.

I agree, he played very well. But what's this move on shit?

Why is this thread even active? There's hundreds of posters running around in the football forum screaming bloody murder about last night, and de Gea is still attracting attention. de Gea and his performance was probably one of the few things that wasn't actually a talking point from the game, other than a couple of smart saves we've come to expect.

You're talking nonsense brother. A goalkeeper positions themselves so they are best suited whether the ball goes either side. The shot would have been a piece of piss to save if he'd been stood on that post but that's not how football works.

Have I blamed him for anything?

I agree, but if he was stood 6 inches to the left by some quirk, then he would have saved it. My point again. Is that every shot is potentially saveable.

But then Modric would have probably shot to the other side? It's not really a point.

I still stand by it though. Good night.

Yes I agree. Like for example, if he had diarrhoea and left the pitch by that post to relieve himself in front of all the fans, and then came back onto the pitch as the shot was taken he could have been there to catch the ball with his shorts around his ankles, ergo the shot was savable.

You're just being silly now....Aren't you??

Every shot? Might want to rethink your point

Trust me when I say he wont. He will stick with and argue about it till the end of days.

To serve what purpose. It's an idiotic stance. All you have to do is show a video of a goal that is basically unsaveable and his point is void? Basically he has to do more work to prove his point than we do.

You're preaching to the choir. You dont think I had debates with the lad before? No matter how sound your argument, he wont budge. He is just taking the piss me thinks because no one can be that stupid.

Yeah but his point is if the keeper was stood closer to where the unsavable shot ended up then he'd save it. It's like he's right but so wrong.

No. You are quite simply wrong. Have you ever played goalkeeper?
