This could be a once in a lifetime opportunity for him. The goalkeeper position of the best team in the world will be vacant in the summer. De Gea knows the Spanish liga, the weather in Spain is usually nice, rich culture as well. He will be closer to his family, friends and relatives. No need to learn the language. No doubt he will be handsomely paid by Barca.

I'm not sure if there will be less pressure in Spain. He will still play for Barcelona.

Now there are quotes by his gf, who's living in Spain at the moment and not in England. feck, I'm a bit worried now.

But we can hire Porto's president to make the dealing and he will manage to get 60M from Barca.

Seriously speaking, if Fergie trust him I don't think that Barca can do that much. He is under a long contract at United and we are financially good. So we can either say Barca to feck up or to ask for a ridiculous amount of money which will make them to don't pursue the offer.

FFS, calm down.

The issue is with yourself if you're gonna get all into a panic over a poor translation of some bird's quote supposedly from Spanish TV. If de Gea was desperate to live in Spain he wouldn't have moved to Manchester United.

Barcelona can feck off. Disgusting club.

I'd sell him to Madrid just to spite Barca if I had to. Just for shits and giggles.

He's under contract at United. Even if he wants a move to Barcelona, they're not just free to take him at their leisure.

Of course not. But how often do clubs keep players against their will for any longer than a token period? This summer he will have three years left on his deal, I think. Even if another club wanted him and he did want out the summer after that, he'd be down to the last two years of his deal which, if you knew he wasn't going to sign another, is close enough to the point you'd be looking at getting some value back on him., I would have thought.

Obviously we might go the other way and force him to see out his deal, but that seems to be rare thing nowadays.

But as I said, I think Valdes will stay and this won't become an issue.

gonna be hilarious if he leaves us for Barcelona and then inevitably does well..

Our media will then revel in how much of a mistake it was to sell him.

Yea losing one of the best young keepers in the world to one our biggest rivals for European titles and having him go on to be amazing for them for 15 years would be hilarious.

Yeah, but if we keep him fir 2-3 years Barca would have replaced Valdes till then.

Even though I expect him to return to Spain at some point, Barcelona can feck off.

Should he leave, he'll be an instant success at Barcelona (similar to Pique) and the same journalists who are hating on him now will be quick to label him the best in Europe.

That bird isn't some bird. She's his girlfriend. Just hope those quotes aren't genuine.

He obviously saw United as a big step up, after Van der Sar's retirement he was going to be a starter. No shit from the British media at that time as well. All was well, however, the British media are like hyenas looking for a weak prey. The moment De Gea let the ball from Dzeko go in the back of the net, the British media have decided to label him a dodgy goalkeeper. The British media are scum, they just want bad things to happen in the footballing world. De Gea possibly didn't predict the shitstorm he's getting, I didn't even predicted that.

Also, who would have predicted Valdes wanted out? A goalkeeper who could have hold on to the no. 1 goalkeeper position for years to come. It's not like he's not good enough for Barca, he decided he wants to see other cultures. Life is unpredictable.

If Barcelona really want him, I don't think De Gea will brush their interest aside instantly. Barcelona, after all, aren't a wee club.

It's already starting to feel like the Ronaldo Saga :(

He's a young player of unquestionable potential, who is currently the media's favourite young United player to knock and question Ferguson over.

Once he realises his potential and starts playing near a world class level.... he'll push for a move to Spain.

How long until they come to our ground, take a picture of him and then a few of theirs take a pic with it?

If they're fake quotes I'll let her off. This time.

She'd best be more careful in future, though.

They can both feck off. Both of them think that they only have to click they're fingers and every top player in world football will beg to join them. I hate them both with a passion.

It's about time we stop letting Madrid bully us. Hopefully we start by beating them over two legs.

She is beautiful and talented:cool:

Anyway, she said the following on her twitter;

which google translate says means...

https://twitter.com/Edurnity/with_replies

Maybe referring to those quotes?

Must be, though if the quotes did originate from some TV show (link I found said "Arucity" of "8TV", and Edurne's twitter retweeted something from Arucity today so it does look like the interview did happen), maybe one of the Spanish posters on here could find it and say more about it?

Would be a mistake to let him go IMO
Has the talent and temperament to make it here and become one of the best in the world

He's going no where you runts. He hasn't even had a full season as undisputed #1 yet.

Has anyone checked on Ruud10?

I'm here. Offline most of the day yesterday and part of the day today. Baffled a bit by some of the De Gea talk here and in the media, but I doubt it's having any effect on the man himself.

Fergie's opinion is the only that matters, as is usually the case. But that's not to say that the criticisms against De Gea don't have a grain of truth in them. But only a grain of truth. De Gea had two, or maybe three, balls that he parried away that were caught by opposing forwards who were quicker to the ball than our defenders. And De Gea had the one punch/clearance that we all wish had gone over Lennon's head rather than to his feet. That's really about it that anyone can point to since the calamitous blunder against Blackburn last season.

Meanwhile, Reina and Hart have been jizzing on themselves all season and no one in the media says boo.

For the record, there's no way I'd do a straight swap deal between De Gea and Valdes. Casillas might be of interest, but only if he brings Ronaldo with him!

If I was De Gea, I'd move. Probably still all bollocks as usual at this point, mind.

I don't think this looks good for United at a time when the 2 biggest clubs in Spain lose their #1 goalkeeper.

Dunno mate, hope he returns soon.

Just saying that all these rumours and the press trying to unsettle de Gea don't come at the best time with Valdes not wanting to resign and Casillas breaking his hand in the space of a week, that's all.

Its ok Vato. If he goes to Madrid, we will make sure you are banned.

Knew all this nonsense will crop up after Valdes made than announcement.

Barca want a ball playing Goal Keeper, who can play as a sweeper. Still not sure how good De Gea's ability in that sense is.

Well this is a load of hot air about nothing. You can pull any football fan off the street and ask them whether they would think moving from United to Barcelona is a step up and they'd probably say yes, it's a fact and nothing more. She also has a vested interest in that she'd probably want to see him more, which means again of course she'd prefer to both live in the sam country. That doesn't mean it actually means anything.
