Doesn't matter how he plays, the reputation will stick. Just like Rafael's rashness and how he can't defend.

Nah, they still say the same about Nani don't they? He's apparently had an awful season, which is quite difficult when he isn't actually playing. De Gea has been solid for pretty much the whole year, yet the same annoying cliches are used against him every game.

Will take about 18 months of top performances for them to lay off him like with Nani

It will also take 1 bad performance for them to give him a knock, just like Nani.

I hate the journo scum. Hart has been absolutely horrific (and far far worse than either de gea or Linde) in many matches this season yet no one gives him a hard time.

American commentary said de Gea made a meal of that double save.

fecking hell.

He has really improved his punching.

The commentators are all cnuts.

Yeah British commentary team on Fox Soccer. Scottish commentator is the one who has a thing against de gea.

Made some good saves in the second half and dealt with crosses very well again. Unfortunately, the shit defending denied him a deserved clean sheet.

Shit defending has cost him lots of clean sheets. He was one of our busiest players in the 2nd half because we were all over the place.

I dont know about the rest of you lot but he is now inspiring massive confidence in me! The blokes playing ahead of him however...

The commentary today was embarrassing.

'He looked all over the place' apparently when he made that save with his legs in the second half

Superb today, dealt with whatever Sunderland threw at him. No rotation bollocks over the Christmas period please!

Is it impossible for commentators to praise him? Ever?

They do praise him, but then come out with the same nonsense during the game whenever he doesn't do what a big English lad would try and do. He prefers to punch, so what? If he's comfortable in doing it, and gets the ball out of the danger area then well done to him. Twice today he punched it well and that is totally fine. Why should he have to catch it just because of the differing styles from different countries? He likes to save with his legs too which is another attribute that goes against him with the media here. Complete nonsense really. He had a really good game today, no doubt about it. Those apparent "shaky" moments were non existent.

Casillas has never held on to a ball in the box in his career, yet DDG is the one who gets the stick for punching the ball? Hart is no better in the box than DDG either - most goalies today suck in the box compared to the giants of Schmechel and VDS! DDG being no worse and no better than most in that compartment.

Excellent performance again today. Looks much more assertive and confident in the air these days. Seems to be much more successful at punching the ball away.

Made some really good saves and deserved a clean sheet if not for the defensive lapse where sunderland were allowed too much time to cross the ball in.

Commentators also managed to blame our defensive problems on him too, apparently he's not communicating enough to his defenders

It's borderline insanity. He's done everything well and somehow there's something he's doing wrong. How thick can you be?

Shit defending has cost him lots of clean sheets. He was one of our busiest players in the 2nd half because we were all over the place.

Probably why he's so upset when we do concede. Poor lad. Been let down by stupidity.

Just coming back from the game, I thought De Gea was excellent today.... Did well at corners. He has a big future ahead of him can only get better.

Buffon also prefers to punch despite being much bigger built than Casillas. He rarely tries to catch in swinging crosses from corners or set pieces. I'm sure there's a reason for that. Probably that you're more likely to get to the ball that way and less likely to feck up, thus not resulting in a goal.

He was awesome today. That donk who was on here last week saying Lindergaard is a much better keeper can feck off. I found myself willing the Sunderland players through at times just so I could see a bit more of De Gea.

People are too much obssesed with English commentators, and their rating of players performances. We are talking about people who are giving Gerrard MOTM in games where liverpool is losing, and who say Glen Johnson is best fullback in the league.

As for De Gea, he was excellent today.

Because it's fecking annoying.

I know it is, but you all are also becoming quite annoying mentioning it in every thread.

You don't think the fact he gets criticised even when doing something well is a talking point?

Fair enough. Most disagree.
