David de Gea | 2011-14 Performances

Should be given a run of games now, he was immense on Sunday. Commanded his box well and made some outstanding saves.

Lindegaard was dreadful against Reading and de Gea on the back of his recent performances deserves a run of matches.

All of our big victories this season (Liverpool, Newcastle, Chelsea, Arsenal, City) De Gea has played in.

The problem remains that Lindegaard has very little experience, in relative terms. So I think Fergie is going to continue to give him runs of games so that he's got enough experience when the time comes that he is needed.

It frustrates me, but I can (sort of) see the logic.

I said some months ago that De Gea is the best shot stopper in the league and probably the best in the world. The majority of people here didn't agree with me. Now it seems that this has changed and I have proven right.

It's going to end up being fashionable to appreciate what a good keeper he is and he'll end up undisputed as "World Class" whatever that means.

De Gea's mentality is top class. Not seen many youngsters with such a cool head. Rarely gets flustered. Always looking to improve and loves playing the game.

Winter time is here so it's time to see a return of David de Beard

De Gea is class. Still has some areas to work on but hes still very very young for a keeper with his kind of ability. Will be great for us in the coming years.

Hope Lindegaard can be content with being backup, as thats inevitably how it will end up between the two of them.

Seems clear to me that Fergie understands just as well as the caf that DDG is a better keeper than Anders. Giving Lindegaard the occasional run of games is just his way of managing De Gea as he develops. IMO De Gea's performances are already as good as any other keeper in the league, and better than most.

I don't think he has the mentality to be a back up. He's come out as saying he's aiming for starter keeper. Whether he has the ability to do so is another matter, but if he doesn't, I don't see him sticking around playing 10 games a season tops.

Hope reports about Begovic or another Keeper are bollocks.

I never saw your post, revan, but if I did, I would have agreed with you. But I'm going to see your post and raise you one...De Gea will become the best keeper any of us will ever see in our lifetimes. And yes, I am fully aware that some caftards saw Gordon Banks.

You're on drugs. Most people have said he's a fantastic shot stopper since day one.

Are you being serious here?

Fantastic and the best in the league though is not exactly the same. Most people said that he is great at shot stopping but still cannot be considered as the best in Europe (or world not sure which I said but it's almost the same thing when it comes to football). Ans I am a regular drug user so they don't influence my posts.

He is certainly the best distributor in world football. I've said that since he broke into Atletico's first team.

Yeah, I posted in this thread in July though I think that I mentioned that in other threads and in Newbies. The post from here:

About shot stopping that's nothing new for De Gea. IMO he's the best shot stopper in the world (probably about the same level as Neuer and better than the rest) but he has to improve in the air and in communication with defenders. When he becomes good in these 2 areas then he will become the best keeper in the world.

Anyway saying that he can become better than Banks is not serious though. I expect him to be the best in the world but Banks is one of the top 3-5 best keepers ever. I would be glad if De Gea become as good as Casillas.

If you watch the match again, he picked out some beauties to RVP and Young all game long. It's incredible having a keeper who can actually pinpoint players.

There was one occasion where he spotted RVP's run, pointed to him, then punted it right to his chest. RVP got the ball down, we attacked and got a corner. Class.

Well you're trying to play the "Look at me, I was right while everyone was wrong" despite most people talking up his shot stopping before we even signed him. Get better drugs that help your brain work, mate.

It really is a strong point of his game. It wasn't something I really noticed until I paid attention to Lindegaard kicking and realised how good DDG was.

His kicking really helps the team out, if he can pick out a player, or at least knock it up near one of our players to try and win the ball. Then we can win/maintain possession and deny the other team the ball easier.

It's a foregone conclusion that De Gea will eclipse Casillas. We'll see about Banks.

Check out 1:25 and 1:40. Absolute beauties.

Surely it's got to the point where De Gea is one of the better goal keepers in the league? If they were going to link us to someone, at least make it a keeper better than him so it sounds at least a little bit believable.

DDG is very good with the ball at his feet. But not as good as VDS. Unfair comparison but I only saw VDS feck up his kicks in his last season.

No matter what kind of back pass there was, VDS was so calm and smart with the ball.

He also beautifully slide tackled Anelka in the CL!

Newspapers seem quite short on rumours for us at the minute, between this and the Lewandowski talk - I'm sure I could find a couple of more likely targets.

So De Gea starts performing well and we're looking to replace him? Now that's a juicy rumor.

Can't see it being true but it's 2 'keepers in 7 days we've been linked with.

Makes you wonder.

"Starts performing well"???

De Gea has been "performing well" since he returned from his exile after the debacle v Blackburn last season...about 12 months ago.

Yep, apart from a hiccup or two along the way DDG has been excellent for the most part for a while now. He has improved in the last year though.

I acknowledge that. Be mindful this is how UK media view it. He's done well in a big game and it's only then do reputations start to change.

When will the commentator bias end and he start to get the credit he deserves?

From a corner he "struggled to direct it away from the goal." Since when is the ball nearly going out for a throwin not away from the goal!?

Wanker.

Exactly. Same old rubbish.

Tired of the poor commentary against him.

Any sensible football fan knows that De gea is not a liability, and in fact, a good keeper.
