He always looks calm and composed, that's what I love about him. Even against big teams or when he concedes.

Lindegaard on the other hand shows nerves.

Has got to be number 1 from now on, I don't know how is constant droppings are justified.

He's not a Schmeichel will take anyone out type of GK. Smalling was wrong in wanting his GK to come out. So many times when the GK comes out with a defender and attacker bearing down on him it ends up in disaster.

The shoulder save was brilliant because he stood up and forced Silva to shoot high.

Good game but why on earth did he change his mind about coming for that one ball in behind which put Smalling in a spot of bother? He could easily have gotten there first.

Made some good saves..althought not sure whether he knew about a few of them. Very assertive in his punching and aerial goalkeeping today. Surprised me alot how easily he dealt with citeh's size.

Yeah, that was the one thing he did wrong during the game. Pretty odd too. He's usually very confident about coming for the ball in situations like that.

I think we know who are our No.1 keeper is. From everything I've seen so far, De Gea is looking most like the keeper we need in goal. His weaknesses were aerial threats and being outmuscled but it's something he's clearly been working on. He's become visibly stronger and is coming to claim virtually everything they send his way. It was only a matter of time until he adjusted to English football.

I hope his critics stop talking as if he has some fatal flaw now.

Fantastic performance today, looked very assertive when he came for crosses.

Should have a run in the team, really.

Faultless today. Even when dealing with crosses ZOMG  etc etc etc

How did he play? I couldn't watch that match. Hoping to get a replay sometime soon.

He set the marker earlier with Citys corner. He came out and punched clear with authority and that made City think twice imo. His distribution remains top notch, his reflexes and point blank saves never been a problem. And he just keeps improving. And hes sooo young lol.

What do you think, will SAF drop him for the next match? I don't see any reason to do it, but who knows what will happen.

He's worked on coming out for crosses. Great allround performance today, he's a much better keeper than Anders, and our no. 2 isn't a bad keeper himself.

Some fantastic work from him today, I thought that was a top notch performance. Couldn't do anything with the goals. Unlucky that Touré scored after his great double save.

Looked a more physical GK loved how he just shoved the players out the way at the corners. I think this possible set back with crosses is going to actually help him be a better gk in the long run. As he looked very assured and commanding today. More than can be said about Hart this season.

Just caught the highlights, those saves he did. That shoulder save.:drool::drool:

think Sky are been very unfair with that shoulder save as they keep saying he knew nothing about it, fact is he kept himself big and seems to move his shoulder into the ball. Top save IMO.

Harte had a save that hit his face against Dortmund and Sky were raving about it

Agree with you mate about Harts save vs Dortmund. The fact Hart actually moves his shoulder and his celebration afterwards showed he meant it. Yes he got a bit luck but he did try to save it.

So proud of my boy today. Brilliant performance and the one thing we've been dying to see him do, he did today and did it well.
I don't need to see AL until the Capital One Cup next year.
We've got a potential world no.1 at the club and he'll be that if SAF shows faith.
Time do ditch the chopping and changing.

superb today

I just hope he gets a run of games and makes the keeper spot his own

he looked much better and more confident on crosses

Just seen that double save again. feck me its even better then I thought. On first viewing I thought Silva had just hit the second shot more at De Gea, rather then De Gea making the move to save it, but its De Gea's reaction that saves it. Outstanding goalkeeping.

Is it safe to say, finally, that all De Gea doubters on the caf have had the doubts erased?

If not, please do make yourself known and give an account of your thinking. Thanks!

No way. The human being can be a fickle creature and admitting you're wrong is not a trait that everyone possesses sadly.

There's still MaroonPondlife, though he did say de Gea was one of the positives a couple of months ago.

He is our best goalkeeper already, and while it's going to be a bumpy ride and there will be errors - big, experienced keepers do them as well - there's nothing to be gained by dropping De Gea other than appeasing Lindegaard. Every time De Gea has lost his place in the last year and a half, he has regained it and made it his own. If it's about toughening him up, I've got no problems with it. But this kid is already tough.
