I dont think we should change it. But it is a constant concern.

The likes of Stoke and West Ham away could become even trickier than they normally are.

And they will target him. (As they should)

This is going to happen, the only way he'll learn to deal with it is by playing. The longer we "protect" him by leaving him out for these games, the longer the problem will persist. Simple as that.

He is pussy, and that's it. Awfull performance, and iif Fergie continues rotating, he shouldn't be between the post in next three of four games.

Get the feck out.

SAF: 'he's done well. I'm pleased with him'.

Good, now stop rotating.

He is actually very brave. Goes into situations he shouldnt. Thats part of the problem.

He is not a pussy.

I was a bit surprised of how much he struggled with high balls. He seemed to get better in the second half of last season, but it was almost as if he pressed restart to August 2011. It'll come, you can't learn in a year what you didn't for years and years. Just have to be patient.

It was one of the worst games I've seen from him in a while. Not a lot to do really, other than what he sort of created himself. Should definetely stay on the line more. If that was Lindegaard I think posters on here would be a lot more negative as well.

It's worth pointing out that we kept a clean sheet today... our first in any away game this season.

He was a bit suspect on crosses, but ultimately we didn't concede. His distribution was fine, and that save (admitidly from his own mistake) was actually fan-fecking-tastic. Not enough has been made of it with this over/on the line debate, but yeah, great save.

If not for the initial error save should go down as best of the season.

But there was an error and a big one at that.

Honestly. This is the problem with a team like United, you get bandwagoners like this guy.

In those 3 out of 4 situations any premiership keeper would go for the ball. First situation was clear as day, he came for the ball, but didn't have guts to go into the challenge, he just wanted to catch the ball without making collision with newcastle player, so that means he is not brave enough. And anyone who thinks this wasn't awfull performance is probably deluded.

Game time, experience, confidence. In that order.

What of know-how, physical presence and judgement? Minutes on the pitch isn't going to cure all of those.

Are we really going to play him against Stoke in a fortnight if he's in this sort of form?

Amar could've worded it a bit wisely.

Dave shows next to no confidence in coming for the aerial balls in to the box.

I'm bandwagoner because I'm attacking the keeper who made 4 goalscoring chance for opposite team, kill me.

Whoever defends him after todays perfomance is probably top red in your eyes.

He played very well against stoke last season and ensured we got the point with some fantastic saves. No reason why he can't do it again.

His judgment making is better than what he showed today, he still struggles on crosses but I think he has gotten better than what he displayed today and will get better only if he is exposed to those situations and allowed to improve. It can't help his confidence that he keeps getting rotated, let him play a run of games and he'll be more assured like he was at the end of last season.

He had a bad game, no doubt about it. Could have easily cost us a goal on another day. Problem is you can't drop/rotate him after one bad game. He did well against Cluj. Like everyone's said, he's only going to learn if he's playing regularly.

Judgement and know-how is down to experience, is it not? Physical presence, again, will come with time. You can't expect a scrawny young lad who has never played in a league that is much more physically demanding till about a season before to have that physical presence in a year or so.

And sure, we can put on Anders in selected games (although I would still rather let DDG start) till DDG has all those aspects completely nailed. But my point was that he should be our #1 and should be starting most of our games. Put it this way, second half of last season, with an assured place in the side, he looked a completely different player to the one we saw in the first half of the season.

Yes, but I like to use word "pussy". :D

You're a bandwagoner because you're being a twat and getting on the back of a keeper who is 21 years of age, still adapting and for the first time in weeks helped us keep a clean sheet.

You calling him a "pussy" isn't constructive criticism and it's not a post worthy of a United fan.

It's not all his responsibility of course, the coaching staff could be doing more. Carrying another stone or so wouldn't do him any harm., How about we get some lads in from Sale Sharks and park them in the penalty box during training.

The positives far outweigh the negatives for me in De gea's case,Feel more comfortable with Him behind the sticks for some reason.
Maybe It's His calmness on the ball and ability to pull of wonder saves that make me feel this. His comanding of crosses is a worry though can't we train Him with the youth team or reserves and just pump balls into the box all day :D

I know it isn't constructive criticism, but It's best word to describe his today's performance. I don't care if he is 21, I'm 21 too, and when someo tells me I'm pussy because of something I did, I know that maens something.

Yeah, but you're not playing for Manchester United and adapting to an entirely different culture. de Gea is a long term project, he has shown signs of his class but it could be another few years till he is truly world class.

yes it is. That is a terrible opinion for me. A player has to take full responsibility.

Coming for crosses is his only fault, and sadly it's a big one...but he can learn. Everything else, he is superb at.

On a positive note his kicking today was excellent, there was a moment when he pinged it to Rafael perfectly on the right hand side, he did a one two with Welbeck and Rafael was suddenly through on goal.

I'd say "pussy" is the worst way to describe his performance. Had he been a pussy, he'd just stay on his line and bank on the defenders dealing with everything thus not getting himself on the line where he can make a mistake. I'd call his performance bad but brave.

Like I said earlier, Gary Neville doesn't half stick the boot in does he? The one when Demba Ba cleared him out was a mistake according to him.

good observation on his kicking.

remember him setting up someone for a goal with one of his kicks.
