Was superb tonight and made some very key saves for us again.

Loved his celebration when Young and Valencia scored, went absolutely mad.

Wish I could have seen that. Loved how much he was enjoying the post match celebration though. He is now becoming one of our most important players.

Wherever his confidence came from, it sure does make him a completely different prospect. Not only is he now as dependable as anyone in the league, he knows how to sell those saves to the cameras as well...

A so-called expert said during halftime that that save was a sign of De Gea's weakness as he claimed that Dave was out of position in the first place. Some people..

That's bullshit.he was out of position and running back across his line because he punched the throw in clear at his near post.
In that sense he deserves even more praise for his recovery.

He done that many times for Atletico and now he's saving our arses. He's reminding me of Edwin, with his flying style of goalkeeping.

So freakin lucky to have him in the team.

After the match when the fans were signing his name he seemed delighted. I think he is really loving it here at the moment.

Now go tell all your Spanish mates where it's at!

All we needed was faith, he was always going to have a shakey start given the nature of the job and the person he was replacing. I'm glad he's turned a corner in the last two or three months, our back five is solid with Evans and DDG looking like colossi. Really pleased for DDG and hopefully he can work on catching set pieces and being more physical with attackers over the summer.

I think when he came for the punch it wa Evans who actually headed it out. He moved back across his goals quickly but the best part of the save was he was confident enough to palm it over and not just get his gloves to it and push it back into play.

Well done to all the others that stood by this lad too during his rough patch. I'm loving the fact that so many journalists and supporters are having to eat humble pie now. When will people learn not to write off a young player that is starting out here?

I never criticized him, but I also didn't believe those who were adamant it would turn out like, well, this, especially in his first season. I thought for sure he'd be competing for the starting job with Lindegaard for at least this season and possibly the next. Turns out the injury to Anders was the best thing that could have happened to De Gea, and possibly the team

He looks happy here and the fans are starting to warm to him.

I don't want to be too optimistic but this could be the start of a great career.

Even making routine saves look flashy now

You guys listen to the daft commentators too much

Nothing easy at all about that save. He goes with his trailing hand cos that's his style, doesn't mean it's easy.

Agreed, a goalkeeper never does anything 'for the cameras' either. Nothing is easy when it comes to goalkeeping you should try it if you play football, he is making some very great saves.

The form De Gea has shown in the second half of this season.....wow. The biggest compliment I can pay him is that we are not missing the great Edwin Van de Saar.

This lad is only 21. He's having lasic surgery at the end of the season and will undoubtedly be hitting the gym to bulk up a little more in the off season. Nothing is a given in football but of all the keeps out there right now, I can't see a single one who has the potential to be better than him in 3 to 5 years. Heck, right now there isn't a keeper in the premier league in better form.

Fergie was bold to splash 18M on a 20 year old kid. But obviously there were no doubts from them about his talent. I think what has impressed me most, is that after a really, really difficult start, he has proved everyone wrong. Just think of the amount of abuse he got from his own fans on forums like these.

So talent and mental fortitude. He's what real Manchester United players are made of.

Didn't have much to do. What he did he did well ... a little needless flash but hey whatever. Pedants Corner: the missed punch (which led to one of the three saves he had to make), and the quickly taken goal-kick straight out.

Well done. Nothing really to see here. Next.

Bolded is pretty much what you need from a Man Utd goalkeeper.

Edit: just to point out that Phil Jones headed the ball away before De Gea got to it,. It wasn't his fault overall, you are just nitpicking

Now you are just being ridiculous. Had to pull off 3 fantastic saves to stop us from going behind. Then again you are probably being a prick just to get a rise of people - mission accomplished.

Do one. He had feck all to do for 85 minutes, and when it mattered he pulled out 3 great saves.
