France disagrees.

Having on on each side isn't enough. DDG is Spain's 4th or 5th goalkeeper. Busquets isn't a starter. Llorente is finally getting starts and Martinez might make the squad this time and actually play. When was the last time Spain didn't have a great goalkeeper or striker or central midfielder?
France have had great full backs in recent years but their strength has been longevity. Thuram and Lizarazu and then Sagnol and Abidal. Now there's no Abidal, Evra has gone downhill and what is left is Clichy. On the other side they have Sagna, who's 29, and Debuchy who has barely played for France. In the WC 2006 they had Silvestre, Givet and Chimbonda in the squad. That was their full back cover. Spain has fine full backs as well, just not much cover.

Long-rage shots, really? Haven't heard that myth for a while.

I laughed a couple of weeks ago when some journos (I think it was on Sunday Supplement?) were criticising him for his dealing with crosses but saying oh yeah well you know he does all the flashy stuff like long range shot saving fine like its second nature.

Bit of revisionism going on.

Casillas and Valdes also both have a lot left in them. When they go out some kid who's 12-14 now will replace them. Spain keep producing this talent. They produce everything but full backs but then again no nation besides Brazil really does.

Valdes is so overrated.

You said Brazil was the only country that produces wing backs...

Yet in their squad Alves, Maicon, and Andre Santos are the only ones with over 10 international caps. "Having one on each side isn't enough"?

That's because others aren't getting games due to brilliance of Alves and Maicon. You have someone like Marcelo not playing regularly because of those two, then you have Rafael who doesn't play at all and possibly a few more. Also, when you look into the past you can't ignore Carlos and Cafu.

Has Paddy Barclay - the cnut - ever apologised for his knee-jerk, ludicrous statements about de Gea made early in the season?

Easy for a no mark hack to kick a struggling player in a new league, less so to be humble enough to admit he was wrong.

"... Heurelho Gomes without the shot-stopping," was one such bollocks claim. And he mocked Ferguson's judgement as well if I recall.

I'm pretty sure clueless feckers like Barclay never even watched him play before he joined us, alongwith most of the knee jerk reactions in this thread.

Of course he won't admit he was wrong. He still insists that England were wrong to sack McClaren. A cretin of the highest order.

The Scousers hate him more than us

Barclays a twat, the only journalist that was right about him was Balague “People doubting David de Gea? Seriously? It will be a feast of eaten words at the end of the season,”

It's the one time balague has actually got it spot on. I would say there has not been a better keeper since Christmas in the entire league.

Wouldn't surprise me if we keep a clean sheet until the end of the season, well it would, but wouldn't shock me.

I think Barclay is an absolute twat but I think I do remember him saying he may have got it wrong on De Gea

Was it Balague who said torres will join us?
he also said de gea will join us too and he was right

One Sun reporter said that we shouldn't bother to learn pronouncing his name as he'll be gone soon.

Balague said this, Jake? Interesting. An excellent line. I may use it as my own.

Is this what you meant?

IF anyone has ordered a replica Manchester United goalkeeper’s shirt with David De Gea ’s name on the back, I’d advise ringing up and cancelling it.

If the shirt was going to have David De Gea's full name on, the shop staff probably haven’t finished sticking the letters on yet anyway.

He’s called David de Gea Quintana. But don’t bother learning all those names. There will be another chap along soon. There has to be.

Mick Dennis :lol::lol::lol:

He's something else. What's the best football podcast?

I can never tell his height. Is he standing on something in this picture or he is this tall?
I thought Pogba was 6-1 -6-2? Or is he still growing?

There is some crazy perspective shit going on in that photo, they look photoshopped in ffs.

Definitely standing on something - look at the other side of the room.

Rene Meuelensteen is almost as tall as DDG, who are both towering above pogba.

There is no way in hell they are both that tall

this photo was taken during pre-season, right? So he's getting smaller and smaller!

Nope, only a few weeks ago when we went on a training camp trip to Scotland.

Also Park looks as cool as feck, and Phil Jones with the trademark.......erm.......dodgy face.

:EDIT: and Rooney looks like the grin meme.

The photo has a lens curve going on, DeGea also looks thicker set in that photo.

And look at his polo.

He's the only person in that photo with black and grey polo. Panic!

Saf has labelled him the outcast! like a poor black sheep.

Berbas face has crying and anguish written all over it.

The one between Evans and Rene looks like Matt James.
