We all know that a run of games makes goalkeepers' performances much better.

De Gea 5 –> Lindegaard 1 –> de Gea 1 –> Amos 1 –> de Gea 2 –> Lindegaard 1 –> de Gea 1 –> Lindegaard 1 –> de Gea 1 –> Amos 1 –> de Gea 2 –> Lindegaard 1 –> de Gea 3 –> Amos 1 –> Lindegaard 1 –> de Gea 3 –> Lindegaard 2 –> de Gea 1 –> Lindegaard 4 –> de Gea 1 -> Amos 1 -> de Gea 8.

I'm happier with today's performance than the one against Bilbao. Not that he didn't do brilliantly against Bilbao, but it's kind of an easy game for a young keeper - always in action, many chances to show his instincts. But we know the real test playing for United is handling not doing all that much during the match, a lot of simple clearing up jobs, but coming alive when you need a save here and there and handle the odd high ball. He did that exactly today.

Its not the bumping, more the over the top praise. People calling his performance flawless, brilliant, excellent etc. Just seemed like the sort of performance you'd expect from your GK. Didn't have much to do, when he was called upon, he made a few standard saves.

His every minor mistake was magnified. Might as well go the other extreme.

I suspect what would maybe make an even bigger difference is the CB pairings in some of those runs as well, it's been pretty consistent of late...that will have helped no end

Was delighted he got a clean-sheet today, and there was some other good signs, claimed a good cross late on if I remember correctly.

People complaining that threads for players actually have people discussing his performance in the latest match... :wenger:

I like how hes starting to have a go at some players and when his English is up to scratch, he will just continue to get better.

Nothing against Anders, but I dont see how he can come in now. This run is just what DDG needed. Glad hes starting to get some praise now as well.

Oozing confidence these days. I particularly liked the calm way he just plucked the ball out of the air after a powerful WBA shot.

played fantastic the last several matches. love the way he's taken a bit of a leadership roll with his criticism of the defense too. ballsy for such a young one.

I thought he was composed at the back, certainly his confidence is up. It bodes well for us as club to have him playing at his best and believing in himself.

Sir Alex sees you as United's keeper for the next 10 years - is that your goal?

Absolutely - let's hope that proves to be the case! Every day I feel more at home here so I can see myself spending my whole career at United. I am very relaxed in England and I like my football here.

You have great reflexes. Do you practise this or is it just a gift?

I certainly work hard at it, but I believe something like that is in-born. A singer is born with a great voice, a striker can naturally sniff out a chance and I think a goalkeeper's reflexes are the same.

Who do you get on with best at the club?

I get on with all the lads but I guess Chicharito and Antonio Valencia most of all. They were brilliant when I first arrived, translating for me and answering any questions I had. Javier is a real livewire off the field - he lifts every room he walks into and his enthusiasm is infectious.

What music do you enjoy?

I like metal and rock bands like Avenged Sevenfold and Metallica. When I put it on in the dressing room, everyone moans! Most of the other players are into hip-hop. I also love This Is The One [by the Stone Roses], the song we come out to at Old Trafford - it gives me a big lift for the game.

Nice one, De Beard.

Thinking about it, if he does go on to be our number 1 for 10-15 years, his appearance record will be through the roof!

It's really good to see him look so at home in goal now.

I always saw he had ability but must admit that I had doubts about him in our side in the short term.

Still don't think he's great on commanding his area and taking crosses - think that'll improve as he gets more stacked - but what has improved is his decision making. He's not getting caught under the ball or dropping it as much because he's staying on his line more often.

Top progress.

I hope the day will come when nobody will bother posting on this thread with every slight variation in performance, just the way it was with VDS. Then you'll know he's reached the level we are all hoping he would.

Holy feck... my levels of man love for this bloke are reaching unprecidented heights.

It must be fecking depressing being a rock music fan in the dressing room.

Also good to see a player not use the common "im happy here, but in the future who knows?" line about staying at the club

Wasn't the great Dane a metal-fan? I believe I read it somewhere.

Here's to more metalheads!

A lot of goal keepers seem to be be metal heads, Kasey Kelley is one and there is another American keeper, whose name I can't remember, that is into really extreme metal.

Marcus Hahnemann? I don't know whether he is or not... but he just seems the 'type'.

And by type... I mean bat-shit mental.

I think when we look back at this season his mental strength will be clear to see, he had some shaky moments early on but has rebounded and now looks like a confident #1.

Jääskelainen is a metalhead too, I believe... though I probably might as well say "Jussi's Finnish".

Not sure if it's been mentioned yet but his passing stats for the WBA game were 16/19. That's better than 6 of the West Brom players and 4/6 that reached or passed the half way line were met by a United player.
